I love this historic hotel”
I come to Bangkok for work at least twice a year and I always stay at the Montien near Silom. It is well located for my needs close to both MTR metro and BTS Skytrain stations, close to the major shopping areas of Bangkok and to Chulalonghorn University. This was the first hotel in Bangkok designed in the modernism style. It's now a bit faded compared to the new luxury hotels of Bangkok but I love it precisely because of its former grandeur - it has loads of atmosphere and above all I find it a really comfortable ‘home away from home’ sort of place. The hotel staff are wonderful and have got to know me, so I’m warmly welcomed. Rooms are a decent size and nicely appointed. Good swimming pool. My only criticism is the high cost of wifi - it's a relatively fast connection but not cheap.

Affordable comfortable and centrally located hotel”
We like Montien in Surawong very very much. It is a big hotel and yet very cosy and comfortable. The Chinese restaurant is very good and the morning breakfast delicious. The lounge is very inviting and very enjoyable to sit there and watch the world go by. The hotel is centrally located and a walking distance to all the attractions in Surowong and Silom. The staff very friendly and helpful.
Perfect location, good hotel”
Good! We were already many times in Montien Hotel. When we are in Bangkok, we always stay there bacause of perfect location, close to PatPong, nightlife, close to Silom Road for night market, and close to public transport, skytrain and metro. And hotel is very good, nice and clean rooms, helpfull friendly staff, good facsilities.
Grand old hotel still going strong”
The Montien is one of the 'grand' modern hotels of Bangkok opened in the late 1960s. It still has its charms as a 'grand dame' having not been excessively modernised. The location in Silom perfectly suited my agenda. Close to BTS and MTR stations. Although the WiFi is quite expensive it's very fast. As a swimmer I appreciate a good-sized pool. Breakfasts are sumptuous. I ate in late each night after work (9.30pm) and was soon known by the restaurant staff - the glass of red wine arriving almost as soon as I sat down. Good Thai food. Didn't try the international menu.
My one day stay”
The location of the hotel is very central with easy access (barring Bangkok traffic jams if travelling on the road) to the heart of Bangkok city. Patpong, if you like shopping and bargaining is just across the road. MBK and World Trade centre is just minutes away by car or tuk tuk. A visit to China town is also very convenient from the Montien. The Hotel staff were very courteous and spoke good English and were always eager to help. My stay at the Montien Surawongse Hotel was pleasant and I would go back there again.
Very good location for this comfortable hotel”
I have known the Montien Hotel for a very long time. The location of this hotel is very good, for people who are into shopping, for those interested in BKK's nightlife also. The area is very lively and if you stay at the Montien you are really in the heart of Bangkok ! In the hotel itself, the quality of the service is very high, the staff is helpful and efficient. Everything there is done to make your stay a nice experience. I can only recommend this place, it is a good value for your money.
My oasis, always”
Always like The Montien. I like to try other hotels around Bangkok, and they're usually great, but when I had a bad experience once I checked out and came straight back to The Montien as my old trusted sanctuary. Why do I like it? Location: You can get anywhere in Bangkok very easily from here, it's a short (and entertaining!) walk to the BTS skytrain, and the hotel has an old-fashioned "grandness" about it that makes it a comfy oasis to come back to after a long day in the heat.
Decent Hotel With Great Location”
Montien Hotel is a decent hotel right in the heart of Silom. Situated directly opposite to main patong night market and 10 minutes walking distance to BTS Sala-Deung Station. It is also surrounded by ample massage parlours where you will be spoiled for choice. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The only downside is that they still use physical key to enter the room, thus you need to do key drop at the reception every time when you are out of the hotel.
Central silom location, handy to everything”
We got this hotel on a flash deal(if there are two of you staying make sure you select the correct option in the room rates for the number of occupants or you will be charged a hefty surcharge . The hote is central to silom, across te road from the patpong night markets, and is close t the skytrain and MTS (train). The room was large and clean and the beds very comfortable. While the bathroom could use a freshen up, it was clean. The room service food was quite nice. And the hotel was service was very good as well. The Montien people obviously understand customer service, and they do this well.
Grand old hotel still going strong”
As I stay often I'll just repeat my earlier description. The Montien is one of the 'grand' modern hotels of Bangkok opened in the late 1960s. It still has its charms as a 'grand dame' having not been excessively modernised. The location in Silom perfectly suited my agenda. Close to BTS and MTR stations. My Home in Bangkok”
Montien Hotel is the perfect place for me to stay whenever I visit Bangkok. It is near to the Commercial Area, Business District, Shopping Belt and ight Life. Contemporary Room with lots of space offering guests with a good night's rest. Not to mention the prompt and efficient staff. Only complain the hotel only allows 2 devices to be connected to the free wifi.
Lovely hotel and service with a smile”
we love the hotel and the location. we enjoyed it very much and 30+ days on the trip and the last two days in bangkok was wonderful. we think that the hotel should provide all customers with free wifi in the room, we got it at malaysia, loas, singapore and event in phuket. montien is a classy hotel but they are willing to charge their valuable customers a fee for wifi and have to use it at the lobby which the noise may interrupt their customers. we got free soda, bottle water and one can of beer in sand hotel in singapore and burasari in phuket. the service was great with a big smile.
Good Value and Great Location”
The property is 50 years old, but very well-maintained. It is ideally located on Soi Surawong directly opposite the Patpong nightlife area. Majority of the staff are very pleasant. Not a wide TV selection. Beds are quite comfortable. Bathrooms are bright and well-equipped. Hotel still uses brass keys instead of a key-card which requires dropping off and collecting the key for every outing. My only complaint was when I hung the Do Not Disturb sign on the door while I was napping during the day and housekeeping disregarded the sign and knocked on the door. I ignored the knock so the TWO housekeepers both began banging ever more aggressively on the door while shouting "Housekeeping." I was compelled to awaken from my nap, get dressed and respond to the door to inform them that I did NOT require my room to be made up. The value for the price paid is very good considering the location and the quality of the hotel.
We really enjoyed our stay at The Montien Hotel. The room was very large with very comfortable bed. The only thing i found was that the plumbing seems to have a problem and when another guest was using the shower there was a terrible sound of air trapped in the pipes. This was especially annoying when someone took a shower early morning or late at night. The hotel is in a great central location close to the night clubs, street market and the city railway. There is a station about 10 minutes walk from hotel and the railway is fast, cheap. and easy to use. We would recommend this hotel and happy to stay there again in the future!!
Stay right in the heart of fun and floric”
The check in was very professionally and efficiently done and the staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel is centrally located and we can walk to practically anywhere we wish to go - shopping, tasty Thai food, shopping Mall, massage shops, coffee shops etc etc. The room is adequately big, clean and stocked with many amenities. The coffee shop is open 24 hours. The surrounding is very safe given that we were in Bangkok during a political crisis. Taxis are available any time and the staff always ready to help. One feels at home in Montien.
great central location and good value hotel”
Montien Hotel is centrally located about 1 min from Patpong Markets, restaurants and nightlife. Walking distance to MRT and skytrain. Lovely swimming pool, clean and quiet when we visited. Friendly staff esp the door man who gave advice in whatever language you were from and always with such much enthusiasm. The rooms are adequate and average size, bathrooms with shower over the bath and adequate. Plenty of storage and lots of mirrows and shelf space with desk and 2 chairs. No free Wifi would be the only minus but opposite at Tom N Tom coffee shop open 24 hours has free Wifi. For the price the Montien is great value and in Bangkok too much to see and do and shop and eat and drink so always find not much time spent in the room. Liked in particular the Thai styled large reception area, lots of flowers and ornaments and sweeping staircase, staying here you know you are in Bangkok rather than in a sqeaking clean and boring hotel where you could be in any city. Definately would go back to this hotel and recommend it to family and friends.
This Hotel looks like old hotel but still very noce with good maintenance ”
This my 1st stay at Montien Hotel Bangkok i have upgrade the room the staff very friendly, but English staff need improvement for better future. Hotel room is very huge and also the air conditioning is very cold, but is not big problem. I like this hotel and will be back again
Amazing old retro hotel”
Montien is a old fashioned classy hotel. It was built in the mid 60`s. Even if you can see it`s pretty old you will feel a lovely atmosphere with a high class. The staff is just amazingly polite and helpfull at all times. At this hotel you have everything you need for pool, restaurants to a small french bakery. PatPong, thailands first redlight district is just across the road and The BTS a hundred meters from the door. Perfect location to get around. 25 minutes from the airport (outside rush hour). I realy recomend this hotel. Budget prices with an excluisive experience. Pool bar and mini bar is rather expencive, so bring your own drinks. Wifi is not included but can be purchased at the hotel. expensive.
good value hotel centrally located in Bangkok”
I have stayed at the Montien hotel many times over the past 30 plus years, it is a good value hotel in a good location. Ihave also stayed at many other hotels in Bangkok, but inevitably always return back to the Montien Hotel.
