A Hidden Gem”
from the moment i emailed the hotel about transfers to the moment we returned to the airport, montra hotel and staff looked after us like vip's!! it is with trepidation that i recommend this hotel so highly because i want to make sure i can still get a room when i return to samui!!! i was worried that i might have booked somewhere too far away from the beaches and hustle and bustle of samui but in effect, we booked ourselves into a little place of heaven, a stress free bubble where you could take a cooling dip, a relaxing massage, an afternoon snooze or indulge in their thai delights from the kitchen! nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff, every question was answered and every request delivered with a smile. if you want an intimate break away, are confident enough to hire a jeep to get you around the island, get yourself off the beaten track and book into the delightful montra hotel, just make sure you leave a room available on my return!!!
Amazing - totally met our expectations”
having travelled around japan and se asia for the past month, my gf and i treated ourselves by spending our last night together in style. montra was the only one in our price range in koh samui and looked amazing and had great reviews. it didn't disappoint at all. the room was much bigger than i was expecting, the entry room with couch and tv was bigger than some private rm hostels we'd stayed at (including the bathroom!) the staff were so friendly and accomodating, especially su. we had an early flight the next day and had booked a taxi at 7:30am, as the restaurant for breakfast only opened at 7am she organised for us to order breakfast that day so that it was ready to be served when we sat down in the morning (and it was delicious!) the pool is also beautifully set between all the villas so everyone has pool access right near the room. we ate lunch, dinner and breakfast at the hotel since we were there for less than 24hours and wanted to relax, the food was very tasty. would highly recommend and hope to stay there again for longer to try their cooking course and massages!
Delightful - lovely surroundings; charming staff”
We stayed and the Montra for 4 nights and wished that we had booked for longer. What a delightful hotel! The staff are superb - keen to help; provide an excellent service; good humoured and charming. And the hotel itself is lovely. It is blissfully quiet, almost serene, and very beautiful. We ate at the hotel each night - there seemed to be no point in going anywhere else, when the food is great and the surroundings so lovely at the hotel. We booked our trip to the Ang Thong Marine Park through the hotel - really good. It was well organised; the boat was clean, fast and comfortable; and the staff on the boat were helpful and efficient. The hotel used Petcherat Marina - a very good choice. Overall, we felt that the Montra provided truly outstanding value for money. We'd certainly stay there again, were we to return to Koh Samui.
Relaxing hotel with nice and big rooms!”
Stayed 3 nights att Montra in january 2013! Su and the staff was helpful and very serviceminded! Montra is a relaxing and quiet hotel with luxury rooms. The garden and pool area is really nice. Montra is situated in the forest 5 minutes walk in to Lamai. Bike is a good choice to travel around a you can rent it from the hotel. If you are looking for a relaxing place and like big, nice rooms book Montra! Thank you Su and Montra for a pleasant stay!
Fantastic hotel for a quiet get-away”
We had a wonderful stay at Montra hotel. The suites are a great size, and well equipped. It is a quiet and well kept place and over our stay we felt we came to know the staff, who were all excellent. The manager and Su in particular gave us so many helpful tips and advice on everything from where to eat, the best beaches, good day trips, and where to shop. We hope to go back and visit Montra again soon, I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
Beautiful hotel with very friendly staff”
We stayed in the Montra after a 2 year stay in Thailand for the last few nights before we left. It was really beautiful, really quiet and a great place to relax away from Lamai. The staff were really friendly and we couldn't ask for more. The only problem we had was with the internet - unless you know how to configure your laptops DNS settings you may have similar problems. Apart from that everything was perfect and I would definitely stay there again.
beautiful hotel and good service.”
I just went there last month. I picked this hotel because when i saw the photos, I liked the swimmimg pool and the rooms. When we got there, this hotel didn't disappointed us. I and my boyfriend love this hotel. it's beautiful place. there are nice rooms, nice swimming pool. the swimming pool is not to big but it's nice because it is connect to everywhere. the staffs are friendly, they always say hello when they see us, and they are good service too. it's is small hotel, not too many people here. so it is the quiet place. it is good for relaxing. but something they should have but they don't is telephone in the room, and when i come back to the hotel late night, i can't see the way to go to my room because they didn't turn on the lights. maybe they want to save money because it was low-seoson, anyway, they supposed to turn on the lights. anyway, i think i will use this hotel again when i go to Koh Samui.
Montra is a place to feel Tranquil and Serene”
Montra is the place to be if you really qant some peace and quiet after partying too hard. It's tranquil and really peaceful. The rooms are huge and spacious and the service is suberb. There is a free shuttle (book 1 hr in advance) to fetch you to Lamai beach if you so choose but otherwise, it's good enough just to zen out in the room.
Great atmosphere and superb service.”
A warm welcome upon checking in set the standard for the stay. All of the staff were incredibly helpful, polite and knowledgeable. The accomodation was exquisite with the suite opening out onto the pool. Incredibly quiet atmosphere makes Montra an ideal place to relax and the cooking lesson was a unexpected extra and a nice touch.
Secluded, gorgeous and tranquil ”
This hotel is just beautiful. My partner and I felt as though we were the only 2 people staying here for all 3 nights in our villa. The pool is the best that I have seen in any hotel - it's just stunning and you can swim at all hours of the night and day. The service is fabulous. However, this hotel is a 20 minute walk from the main Lamai beach area and the free shuttle from the hotel appears to work only 1 way and only between 11 and 5. If you are looking for a beach holiday this is not the place for you as it is situated more in a hilly jungle area.
Montra is a small resort with 9 villas. Each of them is linked by the swimming pool of the resort. The staffs are friendly. The villa room is clean with clean bedsheets. Overall, it was a good stay for us. We will be back if we have the chance again.
Boutique hotel far isolated from the beach noice”
We spent 6 nights at Montra, everything was wonderful. Staff was very helpful at organizing any type of activity at logistics. From Montra you can get easy access to anywhere in the Island.
A wonderful retreat”
My wife and I stayed here for a week in August. It was without doubt one of the finest places we have ever stayed. Nestled a little further back from the beach, it offers privacy and relaxation. The grounds of the hotel are simply exquisite, including a lush and beautiful garden, and an amazing pool, even featuring a small walking bridge over the top! The villas themselves are beautiful, including lovely furnishings, and a stone bath well and truly big enough for two. For the most part, the food was outstanding. The lack of any additional charges for room service was an added perk. My wife and I also tried the cooking class offered by the hotel and we had a great time. The staff of the hotel are simply delightful. They were always happy to provide information and other services, including free trips into town during the day. They also arranged cheap vehicle hire for us (900 Baht/day, including insurance) - I highly recommend getting a jeep to explore the island, just be careful because Thai motorists are mostly insane. I also recommend using Montra's airport transportation (500 Baht) rather than getting a taxi (700 Baht). Keep in mind that the hotel is a little further from the shore than many of the resorts, but it is a perfectly walkable distance. If you're looking for a laid back holiday to just indulge yourself, I can't imagine a better place to stay.
Time To Chill”
Ive stayed here twice now, the latter since its undergone a refurbishment. That said it was absolute class before the refurb. 8 Very spacisou and highly appojnted Villas around an extremely lush and well tended tropicl garden whcih flanks a heated pool which allows you to swim 24/7 to any other villa. his is truely a place to relax and let time slip by. Location is cool, but you will need a car, that said if you go to Samui you need a car anyway. Theres a couple of great Gyms, banks, even a tesco metro. Lamia nightlife is a short driv and its about 15 mins to the crazy nightlife in Chaweng. The Beach is also great, no hassle and a couple of great places to eat. That said I got a fantastic discount from Agoda which made this plac a steal
friendly staff and cozy room”
Before coming to the hotel, I did not expect much about this hotel. However, this was one of the best hotel in my life. Although this is far from city centre, they provide us nice big guest room (living room and bed room). Direct access to swimming pool. breakfast is not buffet but you can choose various menu. Also staff is very friendly and helpful. I am sure I will come back to this hotel next time, too.
great hotel, off beat location...”
nice hotel, remote location...looking back i would have stayed in chawang beach instead. the hotel did not pick us up from the peir, but that was the only downside. we did rent a motor bike from a company they work with. the bike was ok until the brake failed us going downhill!! luckily we were fine and no one got hurt. when we returned to the hotel, we explained what happened and that we would like a new bike. the hotel brought over the owner of the shop explaining that the bike mishap was our fault cause we tested it by going downhill. i was very upset with the remark and the handling of the situation. the hotel only works with that company for bikes, so please make sure that you do not rent bike from them!!! they have old used up bikes and are not willing to admit it. we were not refunded.
very tranquil,lovely villas”
We stayed 5 nights at the Montra.Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome. The owner was extremely helpful and full of useful information. The villas are lovely, surrounded by a unusual swimming pool. They are kept very clean and the bed and bedding amongst the best I have experienced anywhere in Thailand.Breakfast was good although we ventured out in the evening so cannot comment on evening meals. To get to the bars and restaurants takes 10 to 15 minutes walking time.We also hired a scooter from the hotel to get around the island - this was not expensive.
Decent Hotel, Beautiful Grounds and Pool”
The room was big but had a slightly strange layout with a small living room with a smallish TV and a big bed area. Bathroom was big. Hot water was good but water pressure was average. Room has a unique look and a few oddities. Two sinks but one of the taps were a bit off and water constantly spills out. Staff was pretty helpful. Island is very touristy and is a bit expensive compared to Bangkok and Chiang Mai. The hotel does not offer a good deal on transportation but provide it. The grounds are very nice and the pool is fantastic.
Great hotel with excellent restaurant. ”
Very enjoyable. This hotel is great value if you don't mind being away from the beach, up on hillside. They have staff driver available to take you anywhere. The restaurant is underutilized but has great food with many menu options. The pool is amazing as it winds around many of the rooms.
This hotel has it all. The villas are really nice, big, nicely decorated, fresh, just by the pool and equipped with all you need. The staff is lovely, everyone was very professional and friendly from the driver, to cleaners and restaurant staff Good food, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also a really nice place to chill over a drink after dinner.
