A different side to Samed”
Mooban Talay is not the usual place we stay when visiting Koh Samed. We usually go to the busier beaches further south, but had family visiting so decided to spend a little bit more to get a more relaxing atmosphere. Mooban Talay were very helpful with the free boat transfer and very welcoming upon arrival. The rooms are in a really amazing setting, we had booked the cheaper rooms without sea view, but the set up is so nice that the garden rooms are just as good. The rooms were quirky with a bed platform and open rain shower, but could do with a bit of paint as they are beginning to get a little bit musty. The food in the restaurant is a little bit pricey, but is similar to that of all the more expensive places on Samed. There are a range of other resorts within walking distance where the food may or may not be cheaper. We hired scooters and went down to the cheaper end of the island for our second night of our 2 night stay, it is about a 10-15 minute ride to the busier touristy areas. All in all it was exactly what we needed it to be, quiet, relaxing and away from the crowds without being too isolated.

Divine -- the perfect place to end our trip”
We were completing a 50-day tour of Southeast Asia and wanted a nice, quiet place to relax and rest before returning home to the U.S. Mooban Talay Resort couldn't have been more perfect. It's away from town and noisy nightlife; has a gorgeous beach and gentle, warm water; the food and service were excellent in a lovely setting; and our bungalow was charming and comfortable. Our three nights at Mooban were truly divine!

Tranquil, Peaceful, Beautiful!”
We were returning to MooBan Talay as we liked it so much the last time. It is a tranquil resort, where you go to relax, the accomadation is beach bungalows, well fitted out with all the basics you need. It is the furthest north resort on the island, has its own beach, clear water. The food is really good here, but we tended to go out most noights down to the main beach where there are many restaurants and bars on the beach. The island is also well worth exploring if you hire a motor bike or quad bike. The island has one reasonably good small road going from the north to the main beach and then everything else is tracks. We will go back again!!

tranquil and beautiful!”
Mooban Talay was a fantastic resort. We wanted a weekend of total relaxation and that is exactly what we got! The resort is really well looked after and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful (the manager remembered our names the whole time we were there). The only downside to staying at Mooban Talay is that it is situated on a very quiet beach. If you want some night life this is not the resort for you! After 10pm everything is shut!

Relaxing stay.”
Mooban Talay Resort Hotel is a great place to stay if you want to have a relaxing stay. Particularly if you have children, the hotel is perfect. It is no cars around the hotel area and no other people than those that stay at the hotel. There where less things to do around the hotel in the evenings, but you could walk or take a taxi to the beach area with bars and restaurants. In my view it seemed like the best place to stay in Koh Samet.

Jewel of Samed Island”
This is my 2nd stay at Mooban Talay and altho there were some rainy days this trip, I still love it. Their rooms are comfy. The rain shower may be scary to some, as it's out in the open-air but i think it's very unique. Private beach still beautiful and the restaurant still serves amazing food. Staff was helpful and all in all, I'd recommend it to anyone coming to Samed Island for holiday.

The perfect quiet getaway ”
If you're not looking for wild nightlife, Mooban Talay offers a wonderful white, private beach on which to sunbathe, read and take dips in the sea. The fare at the restaurant is well-presented and reasonably priced and dinner takes place at romantically lit tables on the beach. Our bungalow was pleasantly traditional with its outside shower, but had mod cons such as hairdryer and minibar. Thought had been given to little extras like the rechargeable torch. Beds were changed daily and the room beautifully cleaned. Towels were provided for us at the pool and on the beach beds. The gardens were beautiful and relaxing with plenty of water around. One wonderful extra was the resort boat which fetched us from Nuanthip Pier at no charge and took us back when we left. We found every member of staff to be friendly, smiling and helpful and anxious that we should enjoy our break with them. We will definitely return.

Lovely spot, shame for the sand flies.”
The Mooban Talay was a pleasant suprise. As a last minute booking I was not sure of what we would find, but on arrival we all thought it was a small paradise. Secluded private beach and beautifully designed accommodation it had all that we could ask for our short break from Bangkok. The white sand and the clear blue sea and water made a beautiful setting. Breakfast was good too. The only problem were the sand flies bites: lots of them and quite painful. Still carrying the marks and the itch, a week later. Bring lots of repellent and make sure to apply it, day and night!

Wonderful place”
We have visited Mooban twice both times in August slow season. What a beautiful place ! The garden is gorgeous and the general atmosphere is so relaxed. Staff is very polite, rooms clean, nice swimming pool and private whitesand beach. Restaurant has a wide menu with western + thai food. We can highly recommend this place. It is a sanctuary. Mooban is perfect for those who are mainly looking for relaxition. Sai Kaew is about 2 km away so its easy to visit shops or bars if you need more action.

quite resort”
overall it was a very nice stay. the hotel is on a very quite part of the island and we basically had the beach to ourselves. the pool is nice and clean but small, but sufficient. most of the time we were the only one using it. our bungalow was toward the back of the resort in a garden with a lotus pond. very pretty. not much sunshine reaching our bungalow which made it hard to dry towels and swimwear. loved the jar of water to rinse feet before entering the room. loved the outdoor shower as well. the room large and lovely decorated. the restaurant had good food but kind of expensive. i think fried rice was 160 baht. a shake was 90 baht. several other hotels in walking distance, we ate at one where the prices was about halt the price for food. the spa was also expensive, 800 baht for 1 hour massage. the free shuttle boat worked well and the staff was very friendly. we rented a motorbike for 300 thb a day just outside the gate of the resort. we drove into "town" where the beach was packed with people, sports activities and restaurants with cheaper food. so we were happy we stayed at this resort even thug hight food prices because we like to feel of being the only people there.

Away from the crowds”
Mooban talay is a nice escape from bangkok- away from the hustle and bustle of the eastern Coast of koh samet. They will pick you up for free at nanthip pier at 1 or 4 pm and take you back to return to bkk at 12. Resort itself is clean with lovely garden setting and at the end of the road- important if you value tranquility, the other resorts on this strip have the main road running through them. Food is ok- nothing special but there isn't a great culinary scene on the island overall. Breakfast is basic eggs and toast or some asian rice dishes. Easy to rent a motorbike to see the whole island from just outside the resort. Note that they are renovating some of the beachfront rooms so there's intermittent noise through the day.

Great Location, Resort not looked after”
Between us we booked 4 Bungalows, our opinion is that the resort has lacked maintenance and care since it was built 15 years ago. Two of us complained about our bungalows as they were not clean, sheets and pillow cases with marks on them, brown marks on the bathroom walls. The staff are very nice the location is great with your own private beach and a swimming pool (needs cleaning) and a lovely open restaurant to relax and eat at. Mooban Talay is great to come back to after a day of being at the main beach with thousands of other people, the big plus to the resort is it is so quite. The beach should be cleaned each day as there is a lot of plastic washed up on to the beach. I do like this resort but they need to Improve, it needs some love and taking care of. Would I go back an stay again? No is the answer, there are better resorts on the Island and cheaper.

Private Location”
The last resort on the beach or the northern stretch of sand on Koh Samet. Private bungalow with beach front access. The restaurant was good but be sure to rent a motor bike as there is limited access to the main town.

Bit dated but nice”
The stay at mooban talay was a quiet relaxing short break. if you like to eat sleep swim and sunbathe then this place is ideal. there is however no tv (my wife is thai and cant live without) Also there is no tea coffee kettle etc which i cant live without. you can get hot water but this is no good for tea. I eat thai usualy but tried their roast chicken in mushroom sauce which was realy nice. we had a trip out but the road is not good and the beach we visited was packed so we dident stay long All in all a pleasent stay .freindly staff and clean rooms..

Beautiful Tranquil Resort - Will Come Again!”
The resort is in a great location at the very beginning of the island of Koh Samed. Beautiful beach location, clean sand, nice villas, good food, friendly and attentive staff. The resort is quiet and good for rejuvenation, yet has plenty of activities and resources to have fun. I hope to come back soon!

beautiful beach with rustic arhitecture and great staff! ”
Love the rustic nature of the mid- scale resort, outdoor shower water could be better but Did remind us of how limited the resources are on this island. Beach wih fine sand and gentle waves throughout the day. Most of all the staffs were very helpful in meeting our needs of booking a birthday cake off the island, and helped our friends who arent staying in this resport paid boat services. My luggage handle broke along the way to the resort and they did find ways to fix it. Once again, this small resort privides quality serivces and food with acceptable prices. The only less perfect aspect is that it faces the main land and there can be some noice pollution during thr afternoon with many boats and also the view of the ocean isn't infinity... and at night there seems to be these low buzzing frenquency noice from near by properties or hotels... Overall this is one of the better beach experience!

a peaceful and good service hotel”
The resort located at the end of the road at Noi Na beach there are many bungalows here ( may be 20-23 bungalows),the owner is Taiwanese and look like they love and like very much natural ,Bungalow were built in the jungle some big tree are closed to the house without cutting. very peaceful and quiet place good for a real holiday but if you want to touch a night life just 2 or 3 km. from here to Sai Kaew beach that possible by walking or we can take taxi 200bht. for one way. The bed room and bath room are simple but fine and no TV that was not a problem for me. Breakfast was great and faster than we thought

Very good”
We have stayed at Mooban many times over the years, dating back to 2005. We saw evidence of some renovation on this trip and better food options at the restaurant. It is a quiet place on Samet and we enjoyed our trip here, once again, despite having basically no waterview from a "waterview bungalow".
