Prime View, Private and great location”
The place is on the hill facing the ocean, clean, spacious and private. The room has big terrace and hammock, wide view and sea breeze, spacious bathroom with shower, there is a Wifi Router in the room, so Signal and speed always strong, i was having a conference all on the terrace with no problem, only background noise from wind and birds. we love the privacy of this bungalow, away from other room and it located at the end of the road, we can park our motorbike just in front of the entry, the only negative is the mosquito in evening but they gone later at night and the lights were a bit too dim at night Staff is friendly, family kind of business, there is one dog, if you feed him he will follow and stay in your bungalow and a talking bird that will say Good Morning to you when you pass him Food is ok, price is high due to its on the remote side of island, the breakfast and reception area has a breathe taking view, good for sipping cocktail before sunset Overall we have the best experience and the price is worth the value and will be our first choice of stay on our return to this island If you are a pet lover, bring some pet snack and you will a best company and guard during your stay

Escape from the madness”
The location of the hotel is amazing, high up in the cliffs with an amazing view. Be sure to ring the hotel for them to pick you up from the pier as a taxi is really expensive. Bring mosquito spray as they are everywhere but it’s no problem. Food is quite expensive at the restaurant but there is no where else to eat. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again.

Different and unusual concept of a hotel”
It was a nice stay, perfect location, beautiful views, nice sunrise through your balcony. Even though we had a great experience since this hotel is on the wild side, meaning no hot water, mosquitoes while you shower since the bathroom is outside, there are minor things that this place could fix in the future, like broken sink, mosquitoe net above the bed had loads of holes as well as keeping the environment more precise :) Anyway, great experience if you want something different

Amazing view!”
Overall, I love it Pros. View, Atmosphere, Hammock, Mosquito net, Helpful Staff Cons. a lot of climbing, no hot shower, no soap/shampoo, squirrel stole my rambutans! Recommendation: more steps on the ladder would help Tips: Prepare your legs and spare some time to relax here, there's motorbike rental available (steep and winding road), there is 1-way free taxi from or to the pier

Beautiful remote location”
We had a pretty hectic diving schedule and stayed at Moondance to make sure we saw some of the other side of the island too. Koh Tao is pretty small — so even being on the opposite side of the island, it only takes 10 mins on a scooter to reach everything. Beautiful, rustic place. Wish we had spent some more time here during the day.

Remote and awesome view”
The location is unique and quite remote. You have beautiful sunrises and a good snorkelling spot. We couldn’t snorkel for one day due to dirty water ( cesspool most likely ). Other than that friendly staff and simple but chilled bungalows. The food is not bad but double the amount as usual (Pad Thai 100 Baht). It’s perfect for 2 days.

One of a kind experience if you like some authentic nature living”
Located right on top of the mountain over looking the ocean in a bamboo hunt, no air condition, outdoor shower but don't expect even 3 stars setting. It is as basic as you can get to experience a stay in the nature.

Snorkelling Paradise, Breathtaking Views.”
We wish we could have stayed at Moondance Magicview for longer. The location was a bit far off from the main strip (Sairee) of Koh Tao and the ride was a bumpy adventure on a pick up truck. But the location of the resort made up for those tiny inconveniences. There is a reason Moondance Magicview Bungalow has such an eccentric name; and it lives up to its quirky name by having bungalows that were completely made of bamboo, complete with hammocks and a wooden deck for relaxing. It was a very very relaxing place and the food was reasonably priced and quality. We spent the majority of our time there swimming at the warm ocean full of coral and fish. Most diving boats actually stop at the spot outside this resort since it has one of the best bays of Koh Tao

wonderful getaway in the magical smufland”
My friends and I spent a wonderful short holiday at the Moondance Magicview Bungalow. The hotel is located on a remote location on Koh Tao, it can't be a more perfect place for ppl who want to get away from the urban stress. All hotel rooms are made in bamboo with nature lights penetrating into the room in the morning, fan, aircon and all other modern appliances are totally no use here, this is a place where you can totally relax, meditate and absorbing energy from the mother nature. Each room has a very unique designed garden bathroom where you can truly have an amazing shower experience in nature. The hotel owner is a very nice lady; she cooks delicious food in no time. staffs are friendly and helpful. Although the hotel is not next to the beach, but the hotel has built a nice deck on top of the rocks next to the coastline. Swim and snorkeling are possible by the coastline on a calm day. I will definitely go back there again and try to stay longer next time.

Unfrogettable experience”
This is my last night at the Moondance Magicview hotel. It could hardly be quieter, with only the sound of the waters of the crystal clear bay below. Darkness has fallen and, as I look due east over the Gulf of Thailand, where you can see spectacular sunrises, the only lights are those of the squid fishing boats on the horizon. I booked four days here, with fingers crossed. I have stayed eight. I live in a bamboo hut that barely emerges from cliff-top jungle canopy to the truly beautiful view over the water. The hut has a fan but the ocean breeze has proved sufficient for me. The bed is good and has a mosquito net. A couple of nights, I have slept on the balcony’s bamboo hammock beneath constellations I have never seen before. I have a private, open air bathroom and cold shower. It is all a joy to use (although, like much of the island, drains are not as robust as you might be used to in a western city and you should ask for instructions before you do something everyone regrets). In the afternoon, the water has heated naturally and in fact becomes quite hot. The focus of the hotel is an open-air lobby from which a small Thai family runs everything. You could not ask for friendlier hosts. Next to this a small restaurant is sculpted out of petrified wood and the edge of the cliff. ‘Awesome’ would be an entirely accurate description. This is as close to being in a Roger Dean landscape as you will find. There are fourteen bungalows here, so they might be busy or you might have to wait a while but you are never forgotten and you are treated to warm smiles every time. The Moondance Magicview hotel is like no other. Here you will find a truly authentic Thai experience. If you come looking for something close to a hotel experience you have had before, this is not the place. You have to be prepared to tune into something quite rustic but unique. This place is different and special because of it. It is quiet, secluded and just a once in a lifetime experience.

Awesome!”
my girlfriend and i stayed at moondance this may for 9 nights and it was the best thing we could have done! having been to koh tao before and travelled around the island we wanted somewhere that was relaxed and removed from the crowds. i booked our time on agoda before we left based simply on the stunning views in the photos. i was a bit apprehensive about how to get there regarding some earlier reviews that said taxi drivers would refuse to drive there. as it turns out this was completely untrue!! yes the road is rough, but it is actually exciting and quick!! the trip from the ferry port at ao mae haad was 15 minutes and we had a taxi within 2 minutes! for the whole trip no taxi refused the drive there and more importantly moondance has its own taxi that will drop you off and pick you up (at an arranged time) for 100 baht per person per trip. as for the place itself monndance has the most spectacular views east across the horizon from both the bungalows and the restaurant/reception area. beautiful! food was cooked by the owner (as this is a family run show) and she is a total weapon in the kitchen with every dish being awesome. especially so because they were cheap as well! we ate 80% of our meals there. from the reception area it is a safe 5 minute walk down the cliffs (bamboo paths and ladders) to get to the water's edge. although there is no beach the water is easily accessible and had the best snorkeling (gear is provided free) we had seen on koh tao. dive boats for of scuba divers come to this spot daily, showing the quality of the water. speaking of quality the water here was super clean, much cleaner than sairee beach or anything on the west side. the bungalows are simple but have big outdoor bathrooms. a shower under the stars is always nice! while the bed was firm we had no problem sleeping. sheets and towels were very clean and could be changed at your request. basically i couldn't wipe the smile off my face! simple but f

Most spectacular views and atmosphere”
the seaview bungalows were fantastic!!! the view was unbeatable and the breeze over the clifftop made the lack of a/c totally liveable. i loved the outdoor shower and toilet - it was private enough and had a nice back-to-nature kind of a feel to it. all the pictures on the moondance magicview bungalow website were totally true to life. the restaurant was perched on a clifftop and was beautiful with really quaint driftwood tables and chairs. the food was excellent and the service at the hotel was great. the place is pretty remote and could only be reached by a very harrowing "taxi" ride, which was us and our luggage in the back of an open bed 4x4 pickup truck going way too fast along ridiculously bumpy dirt roads. once we got up there we basically never left the hotel grounds, except to hike down the short trail to the water's edge for some nice swimming and snorkeling.

Remote, peaceful, and friendly”
The remote, peaceful atmosphere of Moondance was a welcome change after the bustling commotion of Koh Phi Phi. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves to go camping, as you will find yourself surrounded by wildlife and feeling at one with nature. Unlike most hotels, the grounds and lodging at Moondance are designed to enhance its natural surroundings…everything is built with stunning open-air views and rustic minimalism, but the extravagance of your surroundings will make your stay feel luxurious and comfortable. the English-speaking guest liaison, is a warm, inviting, hard-working fellow whose friendliness and humor only enhanced the charm of this paradise. Be prepared for a bumpy 4x4 trip to the bungalows from the pier, but it’s nothing any adventurer would cringe over and the hotel’s personal taxi service is well-skilled and their taxis are 4x4 trucks. The beach provides some excellent snorkeling, and the access to the beach felt like something out of Swiss Family Robinson…ropes, tunnels, plank bridges…so fun! Anyone complaining that anything about this place is dangerous or difficult obviously didn’t come to Thailand for adventure. The hike to the beach is like any sort of mountain hike…maybe you could slip on some pebbles and scrape your knee, but that’s not going to stop you from hiking a trail to a beautiful locale. This place was made for those with an adventurous spirit looking to enjoy nature with the people around you. Added bonus: the owner has two awesome and lovable dogs that join the guests now and then in the common area…I particularly fell in love with one (a sort of black lab mix) who melted my heart when he ran all the way down the road after us when we had to check out and leave the island.

back to nature”
The most amazing thing about this resort is the way it is perched in and around a boulder strewn hilltop overlooking the sea. All the bungalows seem to have a great view (although ours was especially amazing and included a view of rocks which look just like a man and woman standing behind their child). The bungalows have a wonderfully natural feel, are solidly built from bamboo (including bamboo locks) and include an open air bathroom. This pebble-filled bathroom was a bit rough on bare feet at times but there is something amazing about having a shower under the stars. The snorkeling here is truly amazing - it is possibly one of the best sites on Koh Tao. There are usually boat loads of scuba divers coming by but I'm not sure if they get much more benefit from being able to go lower since there seems to be lots to see near the surface. One caveat - getting into and out of the water is tricky and we cut our hands several times on the sharp, shell-covered rocks. The staff are great and soon made us feel like one of the family. The restaurant food is just fine and we never felt the need to go elsewhere. If we go again to Koh Tao - this is where we'll be going back to stay.

Great view and friendly staff”
our stay in moondance has been a great experience! the road to moondance was a bbit scary but once you got here, you dont need to worry about getting on the bumpy road everyday coz the bungalow has everything you need! our bungalow located right on the cliff and enjoys the best sea view. the balcony of our bungalow and the bar on the cliff had been our best chill-out place during our stay. food and drink are good there, and there are free goggle and fins for rent. the bay near moondance is one of the best spot for snorkeling on the island and there are quite a few snorkeling tour boat stop by everyday. overall we had a great experience in moon dance!
