          Escape from the madness”

The location of the hotel is amazing, high up in the cliffs with an amazing view. Be sure to ring the hotel for them to pick you up from the pier as a taxi is really expensive. Bring mosquito spray as they are everywhere but it’s no problem. Food is quite expensive at the restaurant but there is no where else to eat. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely go again.

Absolutely stunning setting! Away from the centre of action, a peaceful retreat with amazing sea views, beautify bungalows! Lots of steps so maybe not suitable for older travellers. Beautiful decked beach area for great snorkelling. The accommodation is really nice. I loved the cheaper bamboo hit option. I also stayed in the more expensive rooms which were really really nice but in my opinion they over charge for them. Would love to come back to this magical place

most awesome bungalows in koh tao”

winderful bungalows, stunning bar and restaurant, views, paceful, snorkel

in the begining we booked only for 1 night to arrive to koh tao and later check another places in chalok. but after arrive and see how wonderful was that, we stay for 5 days more. and the stay was totally amazing and relaxed. is very difficult to arrive there (only with 4x4) or if you are a super-super good driver. and the beach is not close by. you can not go walking, so you should arrange a vehicle. if you arrive to the island by ferry, send them an email telling the time and you will have someone to pick up you (in another way could be difficult arrive there). this spot is more for people who likes be in the middel of the nature, ocean and adventure. not recommended for people who only wants to stay layed at the beach and get tanned. the bungalows with hamok are made totally in bamboo making the stay very special. the bathroom is simply fantastic, outside integrated with the nature. is an experience have a shower there. the breakfast is include and is very cute. wifi available. cool dogs and a puppet around to play with. only one bar/restaurant of stone and wood just in top of the rocks. you see koh phanghan and koh samui from there. the best coconut lassi in the island made with love. the food is made by the family and is like be in home. at night for dinner is amazing be there. if you go down of the rocks (great way made with wood too) you arrive to one of the best spots to do snorkel and diving. in the bar you can borrow the equipment for snorkelling. and the best of these bungalows is the thai guy who is managing the place: tom. so kind, helpful, friendly and simply amazing guy. we will come again to visit him, for sure

wonderful getaway in the magical smufland”

beautiful bamboo bungalows with garden bathroom, look over amazing sea view from your own private balcony

My friends and I spent a wonderful short holiday at the Moondance Magicview Bungalow. The hotel is located on a remote location on Koh Tao, it can't be a more perfect place for ppl who want to get away from the urban stress. All hotel rooms are made in bamboo with nature lights penetrating into the room in the morning, fan, aircon and all other modern appliances are totally no use here, this is a place where you can totally relax, meditate and absorbing energy from the mother nature. Each room has a very unique designed garden bathroom where you can truly have an amazing shower experience in nature. The hotel owner is a very nice lady; she cooks delicious food in no time. staffs are friendly and helpful. Although the hotel is not next to the beach, but the hotel has built a nice deck on top of the rocks next to the coastline. Swim and snorkeling are possible by the coastline on a calm day. I will definitely go back there again and try to stay longer next time.

The location is unique and quite remote. You have beautiful sunrises and a good snorkelling spot. We couldn’t snorkel for one day due to dirty water ( cesspool most likely ). Other than that friendly staff and simple but chilled bungalows. The food is not bad but double the amount as usual (Pad Thai 100 Baht). It’s perfect for 2 days.

beautiful, peaceful spot, basic bungalows with great views”

lovely, helpful staff, view from the cliffs is lovely. free snorkeling equipment available for good snorkeling at base of cliff (accessible from the restaurant). bungalows are bamboo and basic, but the views are lovely. food okay and more expensive than for what you'd get in town. new, reliable bikes are available for hire (~250 baht for 24 hours) with helmets so you can go explore. no access to the beach. they are also next to impossible to contact, so bear that in mind. The taxi off the boat will rip you off (exploitative collective of taxi drivers makes it almost impossible to barter) but their own taxi service will get you back for half the price. lovely place, would stay again.

upon arriving we knew we would like it here because it was true to it's photographs and the room we stayed in was just perfect. We love the people that work here, we were able to arrange snorkeling for the day direct through reception, sadlt it rained amd we didn't go and cancelling was not an issue. We dinned on the terrace and the pad thai was amazing and flavourful. We extended our stay and recommend to do also. We will definately come back if ever we plan another trip to thailand.

          Amazing cliff top location ”

The view from our room was incredible- tropical flowers, butterflies and then beautiful ocean below! The room is basic but all that you needed. I would say the kitchen is what really lets this place down - the food is very average. We really wanted it to be good (even half good would have been ok) as the view is so amazing, we wouldn’t have left the resort at all! Also - (of course no fault of the resort), we weren’t able to snorkel off the rocks at all as it was too windy for the 2 days we were there so too dangerous. Maybe something to keep in mind if you can be a little flexible with your travel dates and check weather report.

Relaxed days in a wonderful natural place.”

I love it totally. It was my secound time here and i am sure i will come again. It is everything very simple ... the bamboo huts in a big beautiful garden area, the including breakfast and the bathroom .... but everything is very good and nice. For me its perfect. And for all people who loves the nature and can stay without any luxury. I hope the family will keep this place in the way it is now and dont change to much. Electric and Internet work very well, but if you need television or frigerator better dont go there. The only thing i miss here is a sunset... but this is not to change and thats good. So one more time ... keep this place like it is : MAGIC

          Excellent view”

The location is secluded. It's quiet and peaceful here but it would be hard to walk anywhere. The bungalows are made entirely of bamboo, even the floor. There are no TVs or air conditioners here. Bugs could get in from anywhere and the bathroom is outside. The restaurant served good food but there are no walls, just a roof. The scenery is amazing and there is a great place to go snorkeling at the hotel, but you have to climb down some sharp rocks to get into the water. There is no beach. Look at the photos and a map carefully before you decide to stay here, and bring some bug spray. I thought this place was awesome, but it was a little bit like camping.

Authentic, quiet, natural beauty, back to basics”

I came to catch my breath, literally, and looked for a place away from the buzz and found exactly that: simple baboe huts, with a bed and mozzie net, a hammock on it's porch and an outdoor bathroom with cold water shower, a sink and a toilet. Great views over the sea, lovely restaurant spots with caring and helpful people. It is a bit of climb down towards the sea (not recommendable for people with young children or if you have any leg of knee issues) or else they are always willing to take you to one of the nice bays for a reasonable taxi fee. Loved it.

          Bamboo Bungalows on a Cliff”

Its exactly as it sounds. Rustic, picturesque and all about the experience. this is not a fancy hotel, but the food is fantastic, and the views are unbeatable. Everything is bamboo, so the bug nets on the bed are a must. the fans don't do much, so the sleep can feel a bit warm in nice weather. the outdoor washrooms add an element of exposure as the walls are not nearly tall enough, but the rooms are fairly secluded so this can be managed. Again this is an experience.

The bungalows were simple which gave plenty of opportunity to enjoy the sea view from the cliffs. The lounge and restaurant areas were equally beautiful and relaxed. The transport in/out of the resort is a little pricey, but considering the steep roads, is better than motorbiking. Highly recommend staying here!

incredible sunrise, peaceful sea, extremely nice staffs, unbelievable skyfall

Everyday my GF and I were woken up by soft sea breeze and animals's songs, and we go to the tranquil restaurant & bar to enjoy our first hot chow and just enjoy the magnificent sea view, the staffs are so warm and nice, they arrange us a great stays and help us book snorkeling trip and sightseeing tour. Although the equipts and facilities are a little crude yet it's a good chance to enjoy the natural beauty. Last but not least, the sky and stars are breathtaking in the night when they turn off the light, we enjoy that magic moment on the platform which is just built upon the cliff. it's just so great that you could spend time with the girl you like in that beautiful place. Highly recommend without doubt

Peaceful. Felt like you were living in nature. Full privacy

If you want luxury, go elsewhere. If you want a tree house type vibe, one step up from camping, this is the place. Super isolated, means peace and quiet, great for relaxing and reading. Also means all food and drink must come from their restaurant. Fortunately San and co are great cooks (except breakfast) and prices are reasonable. We had nonstop rain and rough seas so couldn't take full advantage of outdoor areas and snorkeling. Would recommend if you want peace and quiet and are happy to entertain yourself. Use their taxi service instead of external guys as it's half the price.

          Awesome experience ”

The norkeling, the view and the bungalows

We really enjoyed our stay. Traveling through Thailand, this was definitely the most memorable (in a good way). The private bungalows are very cool, as they are located on the cliff side with and amazing view over the sea. The "bathroom" is outside and you might feel a little exposed in the beginning, but it was a great part of the whole experience. The hotel has private swimming/snorkeling which was really awesome. It should be noted that people with walking problems will have a hard time getting there, as you have to walk down the steep cliffside to reach it. As it is located at a very remote place, you have to use their restaurant. The food was ok, but I highly recommend to stick to the Thai dishes, as we tried some very bad western dishes. The two hotel dogs are very cool and friendly! I would definitely recommend it, if you want a different experience. For the ones worried about animals getting inside the bungalow, there is a big mosquito net surrounding the bed.

Good for privacy but cleanness is a must.”

Location for privacy, Scenery and Seabreeze

I insist that the hotel is supposed to improve about cleanness. The room I stayed in, including all stuffs inside are quite dirty (the fan was full of dust, mattress and blanket were itchy when I slept). The only one good thing of this hotel for me is the privacy (for anyone who wants to requires privacy) because it is located quite far from the pier and business areas of Koh Tao. Going from the hotel to the pier and business areas is required a car indeed because the road to the hotel is still mud and rocks in some distances. Anyway, a very good scenery around the hotel is so wonderful.

          Lovely but far from everything”

Architecture of the bungalows, stunning view on the ocean, adventurous gardens

Despite of the road that comes to the hostel, which is pretty dangerous, and almost unfindable on a map, the hostel is lovely! Very isolated, it is a quiet place if there is no wind or rain. Unfortunately there was some during our trip, so our sleep was disturbed, because the bamboo-braided walls are thin. The architecture of the bungalow is unique and amazing, and so is the view. this is lovely for couples. The staff was lovely and very helpful. Tony helped us booking our way back to Bangkok, made us custom-made cocktails and advised us on what to do on the island. One night at Moondance magicview is sufficient if comfort is a big deal for you, but if you stay longer, I recommend to rent a bike (you need some driving skills, though) Otherwise you have to take the cab, with a driver who leaves the hostel at 8am, then 11am and 2pm; so you're not free, and it costs you extra money.
