excellent building great stay.
convenient. reasonably priced. lots going on.
I stayed here the week before easter for 3 nights. My stay was through the week. On arrival you could tell it had been a busy weekend. However during my whole stay I had the hotel to myself. I booked the budget room that had no fridge nowhere to hang your stuff but was clean and comfortable. No wiFi in room but the community lounge was pretty good reception. There was a huge settee for sitting in front of tv. There was also the use of microwave kettle and tea and coffee. Everything was really clean. The wash room was a bit off putting as it's all unisex. As I was the only one there though it was not a problem. Plus I'm used to camping and it was just like that. They have just had ever thing updated so it was a really old building with lots of polished floors and decent paint. Downstairs was the restaurant and bar and I had a great time in both with activities on most nights. The staff were great and really friendly. They do specials most night on the food and I would say it was cheap and cheerful. Try the parmi. The beer was only 8 bucks a pint wich is cheap for freo. The food 15 bucks again dead cheap. Moondynes is a 130 year old building full of character big ceilings bigger doors. But hey its not the ritz. However for 70 bucks a night for 2 people it's definitely better than a back pack place. Go have fun and see freo. It's only ten mins walk to the centre of a beautiful town.

friendly staff, good value food, good location close to city.
We had a wonderful stay, the staff were very helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent value for money. We would definitely stay again. Sue & Richard from England.

Perfect value for money
Price, cleanliness and location
Great except it cost me $230 to repair the hire car window which got smashed in whilst in the hotel car park. If I had stayed at a more expensive hotel with secure parking I would saved money

Never again!
When we arrived at 2 o'clock (standard check in time) no one could find the manager who was the only one who handled accommodation, and we're told to wait at the restaurant door. When he did show up, he informed us that the room was not ready. At 2.20 we left to find somewhere to wait as my partner was not willing to wait in the sports bar with the seedy locals. At 3.30 we received a call to say our room was now available, having only an hour left to get ready for the event we were attending we barely had time to use the rooms facilities! The next day we needed to vacate early and once again, no manager! The only person I could find was a cleaner who informed me that there would be no one around until 9 o'clock. I had to leave the keys in the room and call when we arrived home. If people aren't prepared to make themselves available, maybe they shouldn't advertise themselves as capable of providing accommodation!

Not what we expected
Location and it was clean.
There is no internet. The one bathroom is unisex (toilets and showers all in the same bathroom). Power point in bathroom does not work. The wash basin is a laundry sink (only one to share with all the rooms in the hotel).

Clean, accomodating, cheapest I could find
They were ok about me turning up very late (with previous notification that I would do so); bathrooms were shared, but I hardly ever bumped into anyone else in there and the shower was clean and hot,
Good, basic but stylish accomodation. Clean and private. Exactly what I needed.
