Excellent location and service”

Location, service, value for money

We had booked two nights stay with Meracus Hotel. On our first night, we arrived late at the hotel after our Sapa Express bus dropped us off a street away. The hotel is located near the Hoan Kiem lake. We had stayed in Hotel Meracus 2 during our previous trip to Hanoi and we were excited to experience Hotel Meracus on our second trip to Hanoi. Upon our arrival, we were informed that the previous guest occupying our room had not checked out as he was hospitalized due to food poisoning. As there were no other available rooms in the hotel, they arranged for us to spend the night at a neighbouring boutique hotel, HM Boutique Hotel, just a couple of steps away on the same street. We were disappointed but we were promised a free upgrade to the junior suite at Meracus Hotel for our second night. Next morning, Meracus Hotel called us promptly to inform us that our room was ready for check in whenever we were ready. We had breakfast at HM Boutique Hotel (which wasn't good) before moving over. On arrival, the hotel staff took time to explain the surrounding to us (including providing a map). There were rose petals laid out on our bed, as well as in the bathroom sink. The junior suite was spacious and we had a large balcony to ourselves. The hotel also provided a laptop for usage during our stay. However, it was quite useless as the internet connectivity was poor (wifi works better on the phone). Hot water for the shower takes some time to warm up. We had arranged airport transfer with the hotel for our return flight (400k vnd). As we had to leave the hotel very early in the morning, the hotel packed breakfast for us for our journey. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience during our stay in Hotel Meracus. Slightly wished that we didn't have to be moved to another hotel but the circumstances were unfortunate. For the price of the hotel, can't be complaining much. Service was excellent and will definitely recommend this hotel.

New hotel with good service and friendly staffs”

Friendly staffs, good location in Old Quarter, Comfy bed

Really impressive with the Meracus in all aspects i.e. location, facilities, services and staff friendliness. We learned from former reviews that Meracus is a new hotel with pretty good room and services, so we booked a Deluxe Room for 2 nights with a break between the two. We are very satisfied with our stay here as the room is spacious, clean, well-decorated and the bed is so comfy. We also asked for the airport pick-up service which cost $18 per trip and it was great. No need to worry about getting in the right taxi or whether you'll be overcharged. The location is also very good. It's very close the the Hoan Kiem Lake so you can easily walked there to see the Water Puppet Show at night and visit the Ngoc Son Temple on the day time. All staffs are very friendly and helpful, especially the Manager. So bad that I didn't ask his name. He gave us very good information about places for tasty Vietnamese foods, apart from the info. available in the Hotel map. Breakfast at the hotel is international buffet and Pho. Love this hotel and will definitely stay there again if I happen to be in Hanoi in the future.

Terrific hotel and great service.”

Service, Location, Breakfast

I have already reviewed this hotel from an earlier stay (see below repeat) but I forgot to mention that they also have a free late model laptop in every room. We stayed at Meracus 1 for 3 nights - 1 night before Ha Long Bay and 2 afterwards. We have travelled south and are on our last might in Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam tonight. We have stayed at 5 hotels across Vietnam on this trip and while our experiences have all have been positive, THe Meracus was the stand out hotel simply because they exceeded our expectations in every way. Most mid range hotels in Hanoi have fairly small rooms and the Mercaus was no exception, however it was bigger than expected, very clean and extra little touches like a drink on arrival & free fruit platters in the room really helped make us feel welcome. They were aware that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and free of charge upgraded us to a larger room, supplied fresh flowers and a "Happy Anniversary" cake. Every staff member we saw was happy, friendly and helpful and their assistance in booking tours and giving advice was terrific at this price point. The included buffet breakfasts were great - plenty of variety and quantity with Vietnamese, pan Asian, English & French style options. We can unequivocally say it the best hotel breakfast we have experienced including a stay in a new 4 star at twice the price elsewhere in Vietnam. Staff English was very good as well. I highly recommend this hotel. We will certainly stay there again next year when we come back to Hanoi.

Fabulous hotel with a Five Star service.”

Attentive staff, Very central location in Hanoi Old Quarters, Excellent breakfast.

Stay was made more memorable because of very attentive staff which welcomed as from the day we walked in on 5 Jun 2013 until the day we checked out on 11 Jun 2013. Family Room was sufficiently adequate for a family of four with two children. Breakfast was excellent with the menu changed daily. Laptop provided in each guest room with free Wifi. Location is very central, within the Old Quarters of Hanoi and a short walk to Hoan Kiem Lake. Look no where else when in Hanoi. Would definitely recommend Meracus Hotel to family and friends.

Cozy hotel in the great location”

Location, Cleanness, Price

The hotel is located on a busy street just besides the Hoan Kiem lake in Hanoi Old Quarter. The location is so great that you can walk to almost all tourist attractions. The hotel is small but tastefully decorated in colonial style. The room was large, clean, with wifi connection and a laptop provided for use. The staff was friendly and polite. Breakfast buffet was limited in variety, especially very limited local dishes, yet tasteful. The only thing lacking might be a cafe or a small restaurant within the hotel, or room service, which may be useful in late night.

Small Boutique Hotel with Five-stars Feel”

Staff. Cleanliness. Location

Situated right between Hoan Kim Lake and the Old Quarter, it serves as an excellent base for discovering Hanoi. It is a small boutique hotel with seven floors and about 5-6 rooms on each floor. What makes this hotel really stand out is the commitment of the staff to make sure that they look after your every need. The room was superb. If shown in isolation, bringing your blindfolded into the room, you'd swear it is a four or five star hotel. Linen fresh, clean and softness that suggest luxury. We had the family room, which had a king and a queen bed. And the showers were just fantastic, after a long hard day ploughing through the streets of the old quarter. It has rain-shower-hand-shower-massage-jets all built into the single unit. It may seem complicated to use, but the hotel had taken care of that by putting up a set of instructions on the bathroom door. There was also advice on their hotel map on the suggestions of places to eat, shop and enjoy. I had a plan to continue my journey from Hanoi to Haiphong and Ninh Binh. I sought the hotel for help. Jerry took note of my request and not only that, he had communicated the same to the other duty manager who shares his work, Hermes. Both these young gentlemen were resourceful and the advise they had given were very very useful. The took the trouble to meet your requirements, even beyond their call of duty. A place to call home away from home. That's how we felt.

THE HEART IN CENTRE”

For girls who love HEELS, SINGLE and want to be SAFE

I was only staying in Hanot for my short business trip in 3 days, as I went alone and this is my 1st time in Hanoi so I prefer to stay in a boutique hotel but in central will be a great idea. When you walk out, 10mins walk will see Hoan Kiem Lake, then next to it is other theatre, this hotel is super convenience for you to access all other streets. And for girls, SHOES, HEELS is around you, so yup, I did buy for me 2 pairs, WOO WOO :D I didn't regret at all during staying there, the hotel is cozy and SUPER friendly staffs, they also welcome and greeting you whenever wherever they see you, I love this attitude and make me feel special lol. The room i stay is superior so just nice enough for 2 person, I requested to stay in high floor when check in and I got the top floor. Eventhough there was an annoying sound which I dont know where it came from, so I called and request for earplug at 3am, yeah 3am, but the staff immediately give to me, NICE! I strongly recommend this hotel for those single or couple who want to have a comfortable place and pure friendly Vietnamese style welcome. Cheers,

Comfortable hotel stay, room a tad small. ”

Clean, excellent breakfast, friendly staff.

The hotel is located very close to Hoan Kiem Lake (central). The water puppets show theatre is only a stone’s throw away. The hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We were warmly greeted with fruits in the room, with rose petals on the bed and bathroom too. The room is very clean. In-room Wifi is available. However, it is a tad too small. The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast. It is arguably our best breakfast during our entire stay in the hotel. The hotel is priced slightly above average compared to the competition. There are many hotels around the area and we have benchmarked a few. The service provided however is impeccable.

i live in vietnam and spend many weekends in hanoi, usually booking 3* accommodation in the old quarter. the meracus is one of many and is a very pleasant place to stay. we were greeted with welcome drink and cool towel at check-in. the room was clean, tidy and pleasantly furnished. the buffet breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. the hotel is situated on the edge of the old quarter and 2 minutes walk to hoan kiem lake.

A superb boutique hotel in the middle of Hanoi Old Quarter”

We were very please with our stay in Meracus Hotel. This is a nice and cosy boutique hotel in the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter. We had a balcony family room with 2 beds (for 4 of us). The room was not facing the street so quite quiet. Our room had good facilities, including coffee/tea, drinking water & usual amenities etc. The hotel staffs were super friendly & knowleageable & able to book Ha Long Bay & Hanoi City Tours with no trouble. Hotel & room were very clean & quite new too, with a chic oriental design. Hotel is only about 200m walk from Hoam Kien Lake & there were lots of street vendors, souvenir shops, cafes, bakeris & nice eateries all within walking distance (Hanoi Old Quarter). The morning breakfast buffet was in the basement. It was OK. Maybe a little more choices would be better We were still quite happy with the foods & they serve omellete & Pho (Hanoi style noodle soup). I supect this might be the best Hotel in it's price range in Hanoi! Will comec back again. Thanks!

“Fabulous in every way!””

“Fabulous in every way!”

We just finished our stay at the Meracus and were impressed by the high quality of service that was offered there. The staff are professional, friendly, speak excellent english and make your holiday a breeze! The hotel is decorated in neo-classical style and features comfortable beds, fancy showers and a delicious buffet breakfast. It is right in the centre of the Old Quarter and is in easy walking distance of Hoan Kiem lake, the water puppet shows and many good restaurants. This place is the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in and the best on our trip to Asia so far. With hotels it's always the little things that count and the hand written card and little gift of traditional Green rice cakes left on our bed on our final night were impressive and delightful. We will most definitely return to Meracus and their wonderful staff, if you are considering booking, do it, you will not find a better place. Thanks for a great stay.

Small Details Make a Good Difference”

Helpful, accommodating service; well-appointed rooms with attention to details; varied breakfast menu

Meracus Hotel was properly located, just a short walk away from Hoan Kiem Lake. The personnel were attentive, respectful and helpful, and the lovely small details in the rooms - from the flower petals strewn on the bathroom sink and bed, to the 'thank you' pastry and card - makes the hotel a welcome reflection on the wonderful Old Quarter of Hanoi.

Excellent location-good value ”

The location is ideal, less than 2mins to hoam Kiem lake and in the middle of shoe district. Breakfast was delish and staff incredibly helpful- tours/ best pho or where to buy coffee

We booked the junior suite and paid $40 ish total, the room was huge with a balcony and totally worth the cost. Bathroom was a good size, no street noise. The other bedrooms are a little smaller but for $20ish I'd still say worth it. The breakfast was delish, they had Vietnamese options as well as "western". Eggs Benedict or Pho whichever you're in the mood for. Essential since Hanoi doesn't really wake up until about 10ish anyway. The staff were incredible! I'd recommend getting the hotel airport pickup, less hassle and for $18 it's the going rate. They were able to recommend a great pho place and where to buy coffee, suggestions for our own DIY tours and arranged a FABULOUS tour to Trang-An/Ninhbinh which was probably the highlight. We did halong/bai tu long bay as well, but booked on our own. The staff just goes out of their way, when we did the day tours or the overnight they packed a lil breakfast to go, and we kept our large luggage at the hotel. While not "secure" it was perfectly safe. Also provided a handy walking map which we put to good use. The location is IDEAL! Just 2 mins from hoam kiem lake, and close to plenty of restaurants, both fancy and where the locals eat. Our one downside - we left a bottle of gin in the fridge and some of it magically disappeared. Not enough that it was an issue, but enough that we noticed. At the end of the day, not serious, and we probably should have done a better job of hiding it. Hotel was wonderful! If you can, splurge for the larger room. It's really great value for money and we'd stay again.

Amazing Hotel Tucked Away in Old Quarter”

Location, Staff

of my three weeks in vietnam, this by far has been my favourite hotel! i only have good things to say about meracus and the staff they employ. also was a great price, paid just aud$ for four nights in a deluxe room. after a tip from a friend in da nang, i booked a car to pick me up from the airport with meracus hotel via email at 10.30pm the previous night - the reception team confirmed first thing in the morning. staff were great on arrival - cold towel and welcome drinks. they also provide you with a great little map of the surrounding area, complete with a walking route, recommended restaurants, things to see, places to shop. also has a list of tips on how to haggle, what to avoid etc. this is a small boutique hotel, i booked a deluxe room and was given room 701 on the top floor. cosy room, with the most amazing shower i've ever been in! room had a massive balcony with a great view out over to the lake an over the old quarter. fruit plate each day, the cheapest mini bar prices in all the places i stayed in vn (usd$1 for 1.5l water or 355ml coke), rose petals on bed and in bathroom on arrival! hotel is centrally placed in the old quarter, a two minute walk to the lake and to shopping streets. meracus is situated on a street that specialises in shoes, and you can walk to a nearby night market, street with silk tailors, a night market etc. the staff here are great, very friendly and only too willing to help you. the first thing they told me on arrival was to ask them to book me taxis if i required so they could make sure i got metered taxis without fast meters - true to their word, they only called reliable taxis. always greeted when walk in or out of the hotel, and given the small number of rooms, they remember what room you're in and who you are. definitely check out the restaurants on the map they give you - green mango is amazing! will definitely be staying here when i return to hanoi!

Gret hotel fromwhich to explore Hanoi”

Great location and best staff we have experienced on our 6 week trip!

the hotel has a great location only a couple of minutes from the hoan kien lake and set in the old quarter where most tourists stay. from here you can wander the local streets, eat street food and barter for some not so authentic wares. western restaurants and western bars are also close at hand so there is something for everyone. the room and facilities are first class with rooms cleaned daily, a laptop is provided in each room and the tv has many english speaking channels (essential for daily olympic updates the buffet breakfast has something for everyone and the staff throughout the hotel from the front desk to housekeeping are extremely polite and helpful (probably the best we have experienced on our trip so far). on arrival we were provided with a very god map and some helpful hints, the staff also assisted us with printing boarding passes for our next flight on departure. i would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting hanoi!

Highly recommended”

The Meracus Hotel is bear the Hoan Kiem Lake but not too noisy. Excellent location! The room was clean and tidy. There was a laptop in the room for customer to use (I did not need it though). I booked room in advance. When I arrived the receptionist described their service and surroundings. In the room, I saw petals on the bed and basin in the bathroom. On the desk there was letter addressed to my name and a piece of paper with weather forecast. A small plate of fruit was in the wardrobe. There was also a safe. The breakfast was delicious. What was the most impressive is the service. The hotel staff were young and everyone could speak English and was very polite and helpful. I highly recommend Meracus!

the hotel to savour!”

Service beyond expectation, friendliness exceedingly pleasing!

Fantastic location and forget about the taxis!! It is a short walk to Hoan Kiem Lake where you can enjoy fresh air in this CO2-polluted city. Service from this 3* hotel is beyond 5*. Restaurant crew calls in the morning to remind us to have the complimentary breakfast. We were pickpocketed at one of the tourist sites and the hotel reception team went to the police station three times to help us with the report. That certainly saved our holiday time. Room is good sized and well provisioned, including Notebook with free Wifi. Clean bathroom with relaxing shower options that you can only find in the Hyatts and Hiltons!!

The service is seamless. ”

The staff are very accomodating. The hotel is quite small but the service is at par with any 5 star hotel. They provide you anything you need that will make your stay hassle-free and memorable. The location is also perfect, it's very near the hoan kiem lake where all the happenings are. We would definitely stay at Meracus when we come back to hanoi.
