Calm and serene - lovely setting”
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Mount Havana Luxury Boutique Villa. The rooms were large (the bathroom was as big as some of the hotel rooms we have stayed in!), the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was excellent – in this respect the vegetarian curry (and I’m not a vegetarian!), was amazing and for the first time ever I ate (curried) beetroot and actually enjoyed it, something no one else in has managed to do for me in the past 50 years, and something I never would have thought possible! True, the place is a little difficult to find, though the taxi driver did manage it, but this adds to the calm atmosphere of the villa and its surrounds. There are no TV or minibar distractions (read the Villa descriptions), and we never found the need for them. The grounds are delightful and well worth exploring, with cinnamon, tea, starfruit, papaya, nutmeg, and cloves growing amongst many other plants – and all the vegetables for the meals are grown in them. Kandy, is within easy reach by Tuk-Tuk, and we also used the villa as a base to visit the tea growing region close to Nuwara Eliya, and also the sites at Sigiriya and Dambulla – transport all arranged by the villa staff. All in all, we had a really good time and would certainly recommend it to others.

Tranquil retreat, pure nature, perfect service”
We stayed at Mt. Havana for four days and it was the last stop of our first visit to Sri Lanka. For anyone who would like to have a break from any kind of noise, city stress, etc. we can definitely recommend this extraordinary villa boutique hotel. Our stay was as a family with two children (7 and 3 years old) and despite the quite location the kids had tremendous fun exploring the huge gardens with all the fresh fuit(Mango, Jak, Starfruit, etc.) and just liked the fact that there was pure nature around with squirrels, monkeys or just a cow happy to be fed by them during a morning walk. So for us, living in Shanghai it was exactly what we needed. Regarding service we were in the comfortable situation of being the only guests in an already small establishment (only 5 rooms in total). So after all we were perfectly being looked after by Mr. Soranga and is team in an almost colonial and somewhat decadent feeling, each time we pressed the "butler bell" whenever we needed something or just to tell the staff an what time we wanted to have dinner or breakfast the other morning. Food was delicious in large portions and definitely worth the price. It should be mentioned that when choosing Mt. Havana principally the guests depend on the catering on site since there is not much restaurants or other outside dining places in reach. However, given the quality of the food and fruits/vegetables coming from their own gardens this is not a disadvantage at all. To summarize we have no negative points to tell for this stay. At last, the hidden location does not mean an overall disadvantage for further exploring the Kandy area and upper hill country regions such as Nuria Elya, etc. Mt. Havana in this way is even located pretty much between all these locations and day or half-day trips by car can be organized very well.

Mount Havana Boutique Villa is tastefully designed with very comfortable large room and clean large bathroom modern design. The property is surrounded by a large garden in which a great variety of fruits & vegetables are grown; we have enjoyed a guided tour of it by Saman the General Manager of the Villa. The garden has its own bees that are carefully housed in various bee houses around the garden, so, honey is really homemade. The chef should be inspired by such rich diversity of fresh organic products, unfortunately it is not yet implemented or not obvious on his menu. The menu is generous in choice as well in portion size. We believe that the management tries to satisfy their guests by offering as many choices of dishes as they can as the Villa is isolated in countryside and far from any restaurants. We would suggest better choice of dishes carefully chosen to complement each others on the menu than this long list. Also finer cooking enhancing the Organic home grown vegetables & fruits would certainly be appreciated by international visitors. The Boutique Villa being isolated would need home leisure to entertain guests such as a billiard, home games books & magazines. The employees are welcoming and friendly. We recommend Mount Havana Villa for those who want a relaxing quiet retreat of few days.

Luxurious Tranquility”
Finished my 3 nights stay in this property a week back. I must recommend it highly. Its situated inside a 16 acres of plantation a small town called Gampola. Gampola is in the middle of 2 famous places Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. It is about 25 Kms ahead of Kandy and you will have to drive for 25 Kms from Gampola to reach Nuwara Eliya. Its a beautiful villa, situated on the top of a mountain, having 6 spacious beautiful rooms with bathrooms as large as bedrooms. The view from this villa is breathtaking - You can their own plantation, forests. mountains, clouds, etc. You do not have Televisions and Phones in the rooms - Idea is to relax and rejuvenate. Staff is very nice, Chef is a sweetheart, cooks amazingly well. He has limited stuff on the menu but he can cook up a storm when requested. Highlight is the fresh fruits, fresh fruit juices, tea, etc. - All of this comes from their own plantation where all this stuff is grown organically. I am extremely satisfied by the comfort, taste, rest and scenery that this place provided me. Go ahead book them and thank me later.

Amazing staff, great views”
I stayed at Mount Havana for 2 nights and I really wished I could stay more. Inshallah next time. The staff was really friendly, we were accompanied by our 15month old son who became really friendly with the hotel staff during our stay. Hotel Manager took us out to show the amazing hotel surroundings on the last day, they have a 27 Acre land around the hotel full of tea gardens with amazing views. Most of the food served in the hotel is grown on their own land and is 100% organic, fresh milk comes from the small dairy farm they have in the vicinity. Bee honey, fruits, etc. everything is home grown. Even the water is heated by a heater running on bio gas plant. I really loved the organic food as it tasted fresh and healthy. What more could you ask for in a place with such beautiful surroundings. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and who ever is planning to visit Srilanka. The only slight downside was the road to the boutique hotel, its very small and bumpy, I hope they get this fixed soon. Also, its a bit hard to find the hotel if you are traveling at night s I had to call the hotel staff a couple of times to find it while I was on the correct road. A bigger sign board and some directions will help. All in all a great experience, highly recommended.

We stayed for one night at Mount Havana. This hotel was one of the best on our whole trip. The rooms are really nice, the house is lovely, the staff is amazing, and everything was just perfect. We would really recommend Mount Havana to anyone passing by this area. We had a great BBQ Dinner with candlelight in the garden. The food was really good. Also, the breakfast was great. We really enjoyed that we could pick the time of our breakfast without having to stick to timetables. Mount Havana is the best tip for couples on a romantic trip. We can also recommend it to families, who want to book the whole place (it has five rooms in total).

Hopelessly Romantic”
One of the best experiences I have had - my husband was a bit hesitant to go to Sri Lanka as he was not sure about the quality of the hotels, infrastructure of the country & level of service. Hidden paradise in Gampola ”
Mount Havana is a great place for people who want a quiet and relaxing getaway. It is situated a little bit further in the mountain, but the serenity, view,, food, accommodation and friendly staff are worth your trek up. Me and my friends were upgraded a room so we could be closer to each other upon arrival. The staff went above and beyond to meet our needs and the food is just amazing. Most of the food served are directly from the hotel farm situated just behind the villa, and the curry is simply awesome! I would really recommend this place to anyone who wants a quieter getaway, with awesome view in the morning and great food!
