Overall we enjoyed our stay in Palms Mount Lavinia. The property itself is absolutely lovely and has an old charm. The pool was clean, the room (triple) was wonderfully spacious and the stuff smiley and accommodating. However, the hotel feels run down and neglected, with a thick layer of dust on many a thing, water and dirt stains on the walls and spider webs in the corners. The floor in our room (as in the rest of the hotel) was so dirty that a trip from a shower to the bed resulted in black stains on the lovely white linens! The hotel is practically empty and is in immediate need of of love and care. Also note that the hotel is NOT in Colombo but 10 km away. Whereas this doesn't sound too far, getting to and from Colombo took us on average 40 min even with a tuktuk as the traffic there is very dense.

A good hotel with exceptional service in Sri Lanka. As my first time here, I’m impressed on how they treat their guests well. The room is cozy, the breakfast is delicious, the staffs (including Raj) are friendly and hospitable people! It’s only a 10 minute walk to Mt Lavinia Beach, 10-15 minutes walk to eateries nearby. It’s also easy to get to town with a tuk-tuk or Uber/Pick me app. Overall i had a great experience here!

this became my go to when i had to stay in colombo. the deluxe rooms are apartments - you get a bed room, bathroom, walk in shower, kitchen with living room table, and balcony. in each of the deluxe rooms you will get at least some internet - maybe not the best for skype quality but it worlks. i originally liked this place because they wouldn't hassle you out in the mornings and have a late checkout - this changed on the last day. there is no restaurant be aware. the hotel is also a 5-10 minute walk from the main road. if you need to get a rickshaw you will have to walk to the main road. also you are in mount lavinia so you're surrounded by restaurants as well as local joints. be aware that leaving for the airport from mount lavinia is an almost 2 hour journey. for those of you who care, there is a nightclub right next to the beverley hills which can be really loud on weekends till about 4am.

Absolutely wonderful place to stay! The staff and their family was remarkable, knowledgable, loving and kind. The rooms were amazing and the bed was the best bed that I have slept on in several years! the staff at Golden Bridge are so warm and caring and helped me learn so much about Mount Lavinia, Colombo and other parts of Sri Lanka. This is a 3 star Guest House with remarkable prices! It is just a short walk to the beach with great restaurants and an unforgettable view of downtown Colombo as you are walking the beach. And Gold Rd. is just one street above the Golden Bridge where you will be able to find nearly all things a tourist or similar would need. Mount Lavinia is a remarkable place! And right next door to Golden Bridge Guest House is a beautiful Buddhist temple and school! I can't recommend enough Golden Bridge Guest House! Grandpa, I set up the dart board upstairs for you to practice at while I am away! I love you all there, truly I do. I will cook everyone the most amazing and delicious dinner when I come back. I think about everyone there each day and it makes me smile =) I miss hearing "it's a small world" while having fresh Sri Lankan Coffee and gazing out at a horizon glimmering affection, nature and love. The site of the guests house is a nice narrow path which enable good parking space in their compound You are in an oasis when you are within the premise with 2 levels of accommodation. New rooms are added which will enable more guests occupation since the room upstairs are limited. It's a no frills guests house so guests are freely to come and go with 24 hours access. There are plentiful of food outlets know locally as "hotel" can be found and there are also lots of seafood restaurants along the beach in Mount Lavinia. Along the Galle Road which is just within 3 mins walking distance are also plentiful of restaurants establishment. It is the heart of Mount Lavinia where Ocean Blue House is situated and positioning.

I originally booked one night to start my trip but ended up staying 3 more. It does take some time and costs a bit to get there at night from the airport but it was worth the hassle. The owner is a really friendly and honest lady that will make sure you have an enjoyable stay. It is located out of Colombo but the train station and bus stop are really close. Bus 100 will take you downtown in about an hour for 28 LKR while the train (less frequent) takes about 20min for 15. The beach is also easily accessible walking and allows you to have a chill day from busy Colombo. I would definitely go back.

I originally booked to stay for 2 nights but ended up staying for two weeks which says it all really. The owner Neville and the rest of the staff were very accomodating and helpful and created a great atmosphere which also made it easy to meet other travellers staying in the hotel. The rooms were basic but clean and the location is perfect for the beach and bars of Mount Lavinia or trips into Colombo. Overall, an excellent budget option for travellers.

I used to live in Mount Lavina and when I needed to do a visa run from Thailand, I was determined to find affordable accommodation in Mount Lavina. This is difficult to do, as hotel accommodation in and around the Sri Lankan capital is generally quite expensive for the budget traveller. A shame, as Colombo is a great vibrant city. The White Nest, is a person's home that has been adapted to provide travellers with comfortable lodgings. The location is great. A short walk to Mount Lavina Hotel, an old colonial mansion built on the cliffs above the sea with a great swimming pool overlooking the sea with a view up the coast to the city centre. You can use the pool for only 6.00US a day. The food served there is fantastic. As well you can walk up to Galle Road and eat at Queen's Cafe. I strongly recommend the Sri Lankan curry lunch -- 6 curries and rice for only 245 Rupees (about 2.30US). They serve the best Sri Lankan curry, I've had in a restaurant. Most others serve Indian or fusian curry dishes. Again -- the staff at White Nest are very helpful and friendly. Enjoy! And book early -- there aren't many rooms.

It is very easy to find,between Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia,take bus 100~101 from Colombo fort and get out one stop after Dehiwala ! We came here for a few days yo get out breath back,Dammika is a great host,would do anything to help you,his breafast is the best !!Place could do with little bit TLC,but Dammika makes everything acceptable with his lovely character!!We left some our bags there and will stay there again before we fly out ! Comfortable stay and the hotel basically meets my needs. The hotel Management is friendly and take an effort to ensure that guests are attended to. The only two staff in the hotels are pleasant and friendly. The hotel is accommodating to needs of the guest. Location is on the along the main highway headed to Galle and before Mount Lavinia hotel. a shaft walk from the hotel, guests have a wide choice of local restaurants which provide authentic Sri Lankan food that is clean and tasty.

The Chamenka Guest House is in a residential area of Dehiwela, south of Colombo, near Mt. Lavinia. If a person arrives by plane, they should make transfer arrangements through Mr. C. at the guest house. If they arrive at the Colombo central business terminal, they should call ahead for directions. There are some restaurants nearby, a grocery store, and Mr. C. can arrange for a reliable tuk tuk driver. Lavinia Beach is about 10 minutes away. AC is not necessary. A ceiling fan is sufficient. There is also a refrigerator and washing machine. If a person is heading south. Mr. C. has recently opened a house near the beach east of Galle. It's more for bird watchers than the beach crowd. Very quiet. Good for families. five minute walk to the beach and restaurant.

Our stay was good and very comfortable. The hotel staff (Manager) was extremely friendly and helpful with shaping up our travel itinerary, arranging travel, advising us on things to do and not to do, as tourists Hotel is very close to the beach (5 mins walking distance) and 10 mins walk to the Mount Lavinia train station The breakfast was good and was served by pleasant people

An excellent place very close to the sea. Breakfast was copious - you could not ask for better. No other meals provided, but after breakfast you would not need to be eating for a long time! The staff were helpful and spoke enough English for communication to be satisfactory. They did try to help with any small requests. They have an auto on site which is very useful for nearby journeys, but you need to negotiate the price. The owner is offsite and can only be contacted by phone, but this was not a problem. The rooms have been renovated, the shower cubicle and bathroom area is excellent. The beds are very comfortable, the TV worked and showed around 50 channels and the A/C was very good. We will definitely come again. Negative points? They need a bell on the outside to alert the staff when there is a late return at night or a very early arrival. We got caught a few times until we communicated our movements more adequately. The overall estimation of the place is excellent value for money.

Upon I arrival I was aggressively set upon by two reception staff demanding I pay for the room again, despite me showing them my confirmation and receipt, there was much arguing and eventually I was handed a phone and told to speak to the owner, again I explained I had played via the internet and he begrudgingly agreed to give me a room, I use the term room lightly it was directly off reception and had the look and feel of a prison cell. The glass in the windows was frosted with rusty bars across it and bugs crawling all over the window will, there where large damp patches everywhere and the room smelt terrible, the bathroom was equally filthy and had never been cleaned. At night the reception staff sat around shouting and drinking and making noise well into the early hours resulting in no sleep, there was no mosquitoes net thankfully I had my own as the room was teaming with bugs, the breakfast was actually ok , whenever I left the room the aggressive man from reception who may have been the owner would glare at me or quiz me about my booking this went on up until I left, I'm very well traveled and am used to bad places, but having paid a bit extra I was shocked at how the service and conditions of the room where, in summary if you find yourself in mount Lavinia and need a room do not stay at the mount waves hotel even if everything else is full. It is honestly the worse hotel in the world and has the rudest owner, in defence of the other staff at the hotel they genuinely looked embarrassed by the situatio, I think the owner clearly needs to think about his business and his customer service.
