Old World Motel”
I enjoyed the history associated with this Motel. The facilities are aged, and would suit manual labourers very well. No teeny tiny bathrooms here, plenty of room to move, and nothing was too fiddly or wobbly in the generous walk in shower and bathroom. Our rooms were clean but the furnishings are old, so its closer to a backpackers than upmarket, but it encouraged me to take time to look around Queenstown and absorb more of the history, including a leisurely wander along the Queen river as it meanders through the town, filled with water the colour of Pumpkin Soup. The riverside plants certainly enjoy it. Delightful. Thank you.
A good stay to 1 night ”
As we were camping at Lake St. Clair and then ongoing to do the same at Cradle Mt so we stayed 1 night in between at Queenstown for stocking up. Room is large and a bit of smell of vintage (the same when you go into a vintage 2nd-hand shop) which is no problem to us. Great shower and the bed is very comfortable. Have microwave, fridge, water boiler inside the room... 1 hr free wifi (we didn;t use) Queenstown is just a tiny town without anything but just stop for a break and stocking up from the supermarket there which is closed at 7pm.
Budget Motel = Great Stay ”
Set up as a backpackers motrl, this budget motel still caters to the tourist as well. Friendly owners and restaurant staff made our stay very welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable. This is a budget motel so we were pleasantly happy with our stay. Central location with only a short walk to the town centre and all cafes, tourist activities etc. Thanks for a gteat stay:)
A motel with a fantastic view”
The motel was clean and comfortable and the facilities were complete. It also has a fantastic view of the mountain range. It was a wonderful stay for us.
Falling toilet door”
One of the cheapest accommodation during our trip in Tasmania. The sliding toilet door seemed to be self improvised hanging onto a sliding groove by two screws. The sliding was not smooth and the door will drop. As adult we could handle but not safe for children. The old gentleman manning the motel was very friendly.
This older style motel was adequate for our two night stay. Our room was large and well equipped. Although the furniture was old, it was satisfactory and the bed was clean and comfortable. The managers were friendly and helpful. Our only issue was with WiFi access - the voucher only lasts 8 hours, so it needed to be renewed several times during our stay.
WiFi reception was inconsistent, but apparently everywhere in Queenstown is facing the same issue - also due to the weather. Don't like the toilet.
Old style motel. We booked two rooms. The big one has kitchen but be careful when you turn on the metal knob in the shower as it might give you low electric shock! We stayed here just one night. It's ok.
Good for a short stay”
The location was ideal, only a short walk from the main centre of the town. The area was quiet and staff friendly. Cooking facilities available were a bit old and not working properly such as the cooker (it took over 2 hours to roast some meat and the stove top had no temperature control/not working so our food overboiled). Best to just eat out. All cutlery and crockery provided and fridge is large. Our room was a bit unusual with the shower being the same room as the kitchen. Shower taps gave a small electric shock every time the taps or any part of the hose was touched...not sure this is safe! Please have a look. Bedroom was nice, plenty of storage but none of the windows opened in the kitchen so the smells/steam drifted into the bedroom - have to leave fan on with doors closed. Heating was fine in the room, especially with electric blankets. Parking space outside also easy. Beautiful murals painted outside. $4 washing machines/dryer and communal lounge room available but we did not use these (also a bit outdated). TV did not get the best reception, we stopped watching it after a while as it kept cutting out. Free Wifi is not very strong and keeps cutting out (I think it's the whole area in general) but good enough for emails and general web browsing. Needs updating but pleasant enough for a short stay and has everything you need.
Pleasant and helpful owners and staff”
Quiet and easy walk to the main street. Basic yet clean and comfortable. Value for money. Perfect for single people.
Room had everything needed for a few days. Staff very helpful. A very enjoyable stay
Good value for money”
Very cosy and clean, has everything you need for confortable stay. Conveniently located too.
A lovely little place I was so pleased We had stopped overnite as it gave us sometime to look around before continuing on to Strahan
Don't ever take a family here!!!!! This is a haven for disease!!!”
This was the most disgusting accommodation I have ever experienced. Staff were only on the premises for check in and the children and I were the only guests alone in the horrible complex for 3 days. There was one roll of toilet paper for a three day stay, the heater didn't work and one of the electric blankets didn't work. This meant 3 of us had to share 1 bed. Linen was filthy, really really filthy. Towels were hard and discoloured and fraying. The shower was smack bang in the kitchen. Yes, you read that right. My credit card was maxed so we couldn't go to a decent alternative and because staff left the premises once we had checked in, there was no way to complain or request being moved to a different room. This motel also wreaked. Opening the door set both me and the children a few steps back in shock and disgust. There were towels bunched up on the clothes line in the rain for our entire stay too. Filthy. Couches were disgusting, almost black with ...whatever it was. Carpets were damp and sticky. The dust gave us all asthma and I got such a severe headache we had to go to the hospital.. I will be initiating litigation as soon as we return to the mainland. This reflects badly on the entire town and left a taste in our mouths that will take a long time to get rid of. Outrageously gross!
good quiet location”
It was very quiet. The woman was excellent help and the showers were superb. The pillowcase had that 'man' smell was my only complaint but have discovered other places with same issue. Must be my sensitive nose
Comfortable and cheap”
Central location. Room smelt a bit musty and the shower was small. But the room is large and has everything you need.
Mountain View BUDGET Hotel”
When you have your toilet with saloon swinging doors into the kitchen you have to wonder?? The location was great but this is definitely a BUDGET hotel. Toilet/shower/kitchen all in the same room is something to be desired! Not sure if there was food available at this site as this was not made clear, not even sure if breakfast was available either.
Fantastic lovey owners
location ok. arrived late and staff still on site. cottages old but comfortable. everything you need is in the room
VALUE FOR MONEY ACCOMMODATION”
For those driving, this is a value for money stay away from town centre. All necessity are provided
