The best cost-benefit in Tonsai”
The Moutain View Resort was for us an excellent option for stay in Tonsai. The place is pleasant, just in the foot of the mountain with nice gardens and close to the nature. The view from the balcony was very cool. We feel very well there. It is quiet compared to others in the middle of the village or to that close to the beach. We would stay only for one night and decided to stay for 4 nights. Our room had a bathroom inside. Although have small issues (like a water spill in the sink), it was clean and totally functional (no hot water). The bed was comfortable and the linen was clean. The room has functional mosquito's net in the windows. No mosquitos or lizards (what will not be a problem for us) inside. Like most of the options in Tonsai, the power works only at night, what was not a problem for us, as we prefer to explore the wonderfull places around instead of stay in the room. We went to visit some less expensive options and they were pretty more rustic. If you are prone to, it would be an option. For us was too much rustic for the moment, but it would be ok in other situations. The most expensive options in Tonsai may have the advantage of having power full time and breakfast included. Regarding the last, we prefered to enjoy a different option of breakfast each day. There are several in the village. Concluding, if you prefer a more sofisticated option, go to the most expensive ones in Tonsai or go to Railay. Having in mind that Tonsai village is a very rustic spot, the Mountain View is a very good option. We enjoy and recommend it. Ah, the reception staff was very kind, peacefull and helpfull, all the time.

Good beach side hotel. ”
First of all if you want to get a "roughing it" type of experience than stay at this hotel. Because most of Ton Sai Beach has their power shut of from 6am to 6pm, you will not get to relax in front of a fan or a/c. That's okay because my friend and I were outside taking in the beautiful beaches of Krabi anyways. At night they turn on the fan to your room which is great. The bed is rather stiff and hard but that's okay because some people like it like that. I didn't find to many problems with sleeping on that bed. This feels like a 2 1/2 star hotel and not a 3 because of the fact that the electricity was off during most of the day. Other than that if you are more concerned with a budget motel just next to a beautiful beach, than chose this motel!!

Exceptional”
Love this place. Third time at Tonsai......twice we stayed at Mountain View. Staff are lovely. Rooms spacious. Easy walk to restaurants and bars, beach close by. Mainly rock climbers stay in Tonsai so very chilled out, relaxing and friendly crowd. But very suitable for families or anyone wanting a relaxing safe place to stay. Definitely recommend Mountain View. Val & Michael, Australia

Mountain View Resort - Tonsai Bay”
I spent a good couple of weeks reading reviews desperately trying to choose the right place to stay in Thailand over the Christmas - New Year period. Having now arrived back after having a great time I can honestly say that if you're looking to escape the tourist crowds and experience the old backpacker style of Thailand then you can't go wrong with Tonsai Bay. It's a pretty remote place, only reachable by long tail boat, a journey that will involve getting your feet wet so get your sandals on. The striking difference between Ao Nang where you catch the boat and Tonsai [beautiful, undeveloped, atmospheric] just round the cove is unbelievable. The vast majority of people who go to Tonsai are there for the world famous climbing opportunities and as one guy I met said, 'You'll never see so many '6-packs' in one place... and that's just the girls!' The great thing about this situation however is that during the day Tonsai feels very quiet and relaxed as everyone seems to be on the cliffs whilst at night people come together in the various bars and restaurants creating a nice atmosphere for socialising. A couple of factors that some may need to consider is electricity is only available between 6pm and 6am. Internet is slow and phone reception poor. No ATMs but they can be found via a short walk round to Railay. No hot water although I only ever wanted a cold one due to the heat but my female friends missed it for leg shaving purposes. These may sound like a pain for some, but I hope they don't change as the flip side is they keep the more tourist types away and keep Tonsai for the travellers. Mountain View Resort itself is a great place to stay. Situated at the West end, set back in the coconut forest it's far away enough from the nearby bars and restaurants to feel peaceful but close enough for a late night intoxicated stumble to be no hassle and only ten minute

Great resort for climbers and backpackers ”
We were in mountain resort from 25th January till 9th February 2018 in a standard bungalow # 205. We've found everything we needed, beds were clean, linens freshly washed, got complimentary shampoo, toothbrush, soap, towels. Bungalow was ideally situated, slightly uphill with decent view. Mornings were beautiful with birds singing and sometimes monkeys jumping on the roof. There is a space for improvement but considering this is Thailand and quite secluded area it was all right. Windows were covered with a net tightly so no mosquitoes inside. There was only cold water and a fan. There are not eating facilities in resort but 3 to 5 minutes walk will do the job and you can choose from restaurants on Tonsai main street. It takes 10 min to get to the beach through park and there was a possibility to get to Railay beach by walking above the beach and when tide was low, it was accessible through beach. If we come again, we will certainly stay there again.

Excellent”
You get what you pay for in Tonsai and the Mountain View was a good option for the $$$. The rooms are sealed up, as in I didn’t have any run-ins with outside nature inside. The bathroom/shower wasn’t anything special but did the job. The power was reliable at night, and they even ran it during the day at times. The front staff lady when I was there was super nice and helpful, probably the highlight of staying there actually. A couple helpful notes: They accept credit card payment if you have to extend your stay which was huge as ATM access on PhraNang is a PIA. Also a little secret, the front desk can book your ferry transfer to different parts of the country, not super impressive in itself, but again you can pay for it with credit card (not possible anywhere else in Tonsai Village that I could find). I was short on cash so this was a HUGE help. As far as locking up valuables, bring a small lock/buy one for $3 at the store. Then they have lockers available to store your stuff :)

Good Spot in Tonsai”
My girlfriend and I LOVE Tonsai and have been there many times. We have always stayed at the same place out of loyalty but, they were booked up when we got in this last trip. So, we decided to spend a couple nights at Mountain View until our bungalow opened back up. We went with the superior room but I would recommend the double bungalow because the beds are more comfortable and they are cooler temperature wise. The ladies that work the front desk are really funny and super nice. Tonsai is a hard place to find a clean room and other than Countryside this is really the only option in what I would consider midrange accommodation. Trust me, as I have looked at all the different accommodation options in Tonsai in the past year

A Tale of Two Rooms”
if you are looking to stay in and maintain a lower budget tonsai and the new bungalows at mountain view are a good choice. the room was an excellent bargain when compared to some of the other places in krabi. just be sure to check your room before you check-in and get a definitive price from the manager if you are looking to switch rooms. location- tonsai is absolutely beautiful during high tide. the area has a very bohemian vibe with rock climbers and backpackers who are very friendly and the staff in the area follow suit. the more posh railay beach is just a 50 baht long-tail boat ride away or ten minute walk during low tide.

Awesome”
This was my favorite place in Thailand to stay. Tong Sai is a really beautiful place to stay and is relatively quiet. This resort is well kept. Comfortable beds. No complaints at all, especially for the price.

good money/value/location/comfort”
We stayed at this resort in new fan bungalow (in fact it is a room in one row with others, but with its own terace). There are also cheaper old bungalows, which stay solitary and don´t seem so old. Room is clean, good equipment, very nice bathroom (private), staff at reception speaks very good english, is helpfull (takes you up and down from the beach with your heavy bags on a sidecarmotorbike). But the very best things about this resort is its location-small beach surrounded by the rocks and cliffs, a lot of bars, restaurants with fresh seafood buffet, the best trips to another location (Ko Lanta, Phi phi,...) for very good price (comparing with Phuket for example).

Nice mountain view”
in ton sai beach area there is electricity just from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. the beach on ton sai is not very nice. almost no watter during low tide. much better option is railay beach, which is in walking distance from ton sai. there are several very nice restaurants in the area and much cheaper, then on railay beach. ton sai beach can be reached only by long tail boat from ao nang.

OK for the money”
The resort was ok and the yard well maintained. The cabin itself was a bit worn down. You get electricity to your cabin from 6pm to 6am. We were traveling with a 2-year-old toddler so the biggest minus was that there was no hot water. It was nice and quiet in the night so you do get a good nights sleep. Mountain View is located on the Hat Tonsai Beach of Railay. This beach is not really good for swimming with kids, though it is not a long walk from the West Beach. The accommodation is a bit cheaper on Tonsai. Maybe Mountain View is not for those who are used to Marriot hotel standards. But for the backpacker family who is not afraid of a little more rustic setting it is ok.

Clean enough but false advertising of facilities.”
They advertise a restaurant and pool tables. These are both shut down and the building is falling apart...looks like the jungle has taken it over for many years now. There is a store still and restaurants are a close enough walk. The new fan rooms were nice and updated, no wifi. They should stop falsely advertising the facilities at the hotel and lower the price. Close enough to the beach...all the hotels on Ton Sai beach are not ocean front anyway which is fine but you dont get the cool ocean breeze. Good rock climbing. 10min to Railay Beach (they are neighboring beaches separated by only by high tide). Hotel has laundry service, they air dry so it takes time but its nice to have clothes not washed in the sink. No power during the day but it doesnt make a difference as most spend there days out and about. The hotel bungalows were nicer than all the other ones we saw.

Lovely stay in Ton Sai Bay”
Nice resort. Electricity all day and WiFi in the bungalow. Some parts little bit dated, but a nice stay in Ton Sai!

Budget resort with some nice touches”
Friendly staff, a little bit secluded from some of the noisier bars. The bungalow fan rooms are a good deal for $650bht/d. Staff cares for the grounds and the landscaping makes this place a cut above similar resorts on Tonsai. No room lockers (they do have a locker bay by the check-in), and the diesel fumes seem worse here than elsewhere in Tonsai.

Very good”
We stayed here for 24 nights and were very happy with having a bungalow with flushing toilets, sealed windows/doors, a gorgeous view and 24hr power. We weren’t expecting much but we were very pleased. Everything in tonsai is so close, so nothing is “out of the way” like we previously read. We got a wicked deal online before we got there and found out we would of been paying much more if we hadn’t.

Private Hotel in relaxed environment”
The Mountain View Resort was exactly what we were looking for: A relaxed location in a not too crowded part of Thailand. Lots of hippies and rock climbers kind of set the vibe. It's a bit of a walk up a dark path which was a little dicey since we arrived at night after it had rained so it was a bit muddy and slippery but easy to navigate the rest of the time. There is no breakfast at the hotel as we were lead to believe but there were a lot of other options in the area

not a bad option considering the area”
We stayed here for a week in a new fan bungalow. It was alright, and the biggest problems were not with the hotel or the room but Tonsai itself. There is a lot of burning trash in the area and it drifts both into the hotel and out to the bay and it is awful. So when we each got sick for a day, we were stuck in thew room with no fan because the electricity is only on a night, and we were hot and miserable breathing the burning plastic and other peoples cigarettes next door. So the hotel is fine but if you are spending that much already, spend a little more for the air con, and hope that you don't have to spend a full day in bed. People say you will adjust to the heat faster if you don't have aircon, but we found that we needed it at night to recover from the heat. Anyway, on the whole this place is decent for Tonsai. Also some folks wrote that their room never got cleaned. You just have to ask at the front desk and they will do it no problem.

Staff is very kind, the bungalows are ok”
They gave me some amenities when I arrived: 2 bottles of water, a toothbrush, soap, shampoo, etc The bungalows are fine, the don't have mosquito net, nor hoy water but I this resort you have electricity all day long (only in high season) There are monkeys on the rooftops so don't scare if you hear a strong noise coming from yours. You will only hear sounds of nature when you go to sleep, no music, no noises... Is very relaxing.

lovely basic bungalow”
we had a bungalow with a fan. the bungalow was nice and the mosquito nets kept the critters out. we saw lots of wildlife around Tonsai as this is on the edge of the jungle. lots of monkeys, toads and a scorpion that was pretty terrified of us! none of these in the room!! the bungalow is brick so they wouldn't be able to get in. i struggled with sleeping without aircon but i knew we weren't going to have aircon so this is my fault really. the facilities all worked as described it was just very hot the staff were great, very friendly and helpful. they have some beautiful pet cats abd kittens. and there are many other cats and kittens on tonsai so a great place to be for cat lovers! one thing i would warn is it is easier to get the boat back to ao nang from railay as this is a much busier beach than tonsai. my partner and i ended up getting a private boat back from tonsai as there was no one to share a boat with
