Hotel with great location ”
Ramy at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Hotel is located in between the train station and the old town. Lots of shopping options and supermarkets around. Great for those who like to stay near the Dresden central train station. Room was carpeted albeit a bit dusty, toilet a bit small for bigger size persons and towel hanger was right above toilet bowl due to space constraint. Nonetheless, we really enjoyed the convenience of the location. Aircon was great during the hot summer month and shower head was powerful. Not too bad a place to explore the city.
Good location but impatient staff although some are nice”
Hotel is located at a very convenient location. Near to train and bus station and walking distance to the city area. Good place for shopping too. As for the staff, it took a long time for check in and the lady serving us was impatient. She did not have us receipt for the city tax charges and forgot to key in payment made to a room (we booked 3). I hope she can be more patient with English speaking guests and more careful with payment. The breakfast staff and check out staff were nice. Lift is slow. Please provide sufficient time for check out. Please note, on top of hotel fee paid in agoda, the hotel collect a city tax on arrival. I think it depends on the number of days stayed. Mine was €11.72 for 4 nights per room.
Great location! Low shower water pressure 😅”
This hotel has excellent location. Very easy to walk from the train station via a pedestrian boardwalk. It's also very near attractions. Got aircon for this terribly hot summer weather, so that's good. Wifi is reliable. Only minus is the shower water pressure is very, very low. Other than that, we are very happy.
While most hostels and hotels are happy to store luggage for you for free, this hotel charges you 1 Euro per luggage. Those who need luggage storage before check-in or after check-out should be aware of this.
Good quality hotel in practical location”
This Ibis hotel is situated in a pedestrian area which is part of a large modern shopping area. The room was smart and modern, slightly cramped, but offering good views over the city centre. Buffet breakfast offered a very wide and generous choice of quality food, but became quickly overcrowded with too many tourist groups arranging to take breakfast at the same time. Service at reception was excellent, particularly at check-in and when we asked for specific transport information an assistant printed out details within two minutes. All reception staff spoke English as well as German, but some (foreign) housekeeping staff did not understand either English or German. Notwithstanding these minor problems, this hotel can be recommended without hesitation as a comfortable and efficient base for exploring Dresden's many cultural and commercial areas and offering good value for money.
this hotel is part of the ibis chain and so meets the standard requirements you can expect with ibis. it is just a 5 minute walk to the train station and a 15 minute walk to the major tourist sites, that makes it convenient. rooms are comfortable and staff are friendly and helpful. unfortunately wifi is not free. breakfast is an extra charge but there are a number of good cafes in the vicinity of the hotel. two identical ibis hotels adjoin this one.i would recommend this hotel for value and convenience. luggage could be left free for the day after checkout.
Good Location but no free WiFi”
Good location: not far from train station and easy to access shopping areas. But this is a place without free WiFi Besides, their elevator shall be upgraded with better software / logic. It took many guests long time to wait for an elevator. It will only allow one elevator to go up and the rest stay in Ground floor. But if people from several higher floors have to go down, only one elevator will operate >_<
Good hotel,bad staff”
In the room with TWO beds is only ONE chair. The staff of reception was very, really very unaccommodating. I paid on arrival, but I received the bill only on departure, consequently I didn¨t know what I pay!!!
Hotel within walking distance to the Elbe river”
It was a one night stopover stay at the iBis Bastei and I managed to get a short but peaceful sleep during my stay. The best part about the hotel was that it was possible to walk to the Frauenkirche at night. The best part was chancing on an underground restaurant serving Oktoberfest menu. There was ample food and drink for less than 30EUR per person. The inner city area was also a great place to have breakfast the morning after.
A convinient hotel at strategic place”
I went there for five day study trip, it's convinient hotel,at strategic place with affordable price. I really enjoy my stay there the only withdraw is the wifi isn't free, and the breakfast is not included
Parking lot not easy to find, but hotel is good”
We did not use the hotel much as we spent the time sightseeing. On arrival, the GPS lead us to the front of the hotel, where it is a shopping plaza. As we were early for check-in, the staff tried to advise where to find parking, and mentioned that the parking did not belong to the hotel, so the cost would be ours. As the directions were not very clear, we settled for the mall parking, which was the nearest. We later found out after checking in that the closest lot was located at the opposite entrance. If this information would have been provided more clearly, either pointing to the other entrance, guiding to the other entrance, or providing a map, this would have been much appreciated. We wasted a bit of what little time we had in beautiful Dresden looking for this parking lot, but otherwise, our stay at Ibis Bastei met all our expectations and requirements (except the wifi is not free). Location is not far from City Centre and close to a beautiful train station, set inside a shopping plaza with modern international brands. It's a good blend.
Staff not nice”
The staff is not helpfull, rather rude. Room are quite small
good location, comfortable bed, good breakfast but we have to pay 1 euro for 1 luggage when we drop our bag in the morning.
Nice city hotel”
The hotel has an excellent location, in the center of Dresden, closed to railway and tram.
Nice city hotel”
Good location in the center of Dresden, closed to railway, tram and busses.
Close to train station, exorbitant price for wifi ”
Able to walk from train station to hotel in no time. However, for a newer hotel, had to wait ridiculous amount of time to ride tiny elevators and really got annoying after a while. They also charge an exorbitant amount - 12.50 euro for 24 hours room wifi. I pre-purchased this on my last day in the evening, as I needs to book my next hotel, we were leaving for Berlin in the early morning. When we went to check out, the female receptionist had the nerve to ask for an additional 12.50 euro because I had used "a second device". Yes I had committed the crime of using both iPad and iPhone, dunt da da. There was no way I was going to pay 25 euro for not even 1/2 a day of wifi. And I didn't. Be very careful with this place as it appears they play you like a KISS themed pin-ball machine trying to wring money out of you any way they can. And by the way the pillows suck...had to fold twice over...they're flat as a Czech pancake.
In generally I'd say the Ibis hotels are a good fit for anyone who is traveling to Dresden and has minimal expectations (clean room, convenient to train). If you are in dresden on business or for old town attractions, this is a safe bet. If you are in dresden to explore north of the river (AMAZING new town area for the 20's aged travelers) then I'd recommend looking into one of the many nice hostels that are available on that end of town (and are closer to the other train station)
Good location, but aging interior”
The location is perfect, but depending on what room you book, it can be quite small and you can see that the interior has serviced guest for more than a decade ...
Very standard ibis style”
Smallish but adequate room, good bathroom (shower), helpful staff, super breakfast.
