Comfortable stay, excellent location , nice and tidy hotel and good service. Breakfast can improve”
Very nice hotel. Stay was comfortable and good service. Very easy check in and check out. Location is excellent. 2 stations just a few minutes away. Queensway and bays water. Breakfast buffet is not that good, can’t eat daily as the menu is fixed and very limited . This has scope for improvement. Otherwise a very descent and nice place to stay.
Great location. Expensive for what it is. ”
Stayed here for 7 nights. Pros: excellent location, right off Hyde park and Queensway underground. Staff were polite and helpful. Breakfast is apart of the cost. Cons: I found the Troy Hotel a little expensive for what it was. Their site on booking.com lists a "large double bed". In reality it is small and barley fits two adults. I s'pose this is necessary though as the room is tiny and only barely fits the bed. (we barely had room to open one suitcase, let alone two). The hotel in general needs a bit of a makeover. It's very dated. Breakfast is provided as part of the cost but it is a keep in mind that it is a very basic continental breakfast. Having said that, London is so expensive, so it does save you a fair bit of money if you're needing to buy brekki everyday.
Good value hotel in central London”
We were positively surprised that the room was rather spacious and spotlessly clean, having learned to have low expectations for lower priced hotels in central London. Nothing to complain about in Troy; the location is great as it's near to several tube stations and a walking distance from Hyde Park and Oxford Street. The room had all facilities you would expect, and while nothing tends to be warm in London in the autumn it wasn't cold at least. Breakfast selection was rather small but not terrible. Not much for vegetarians and vegans, but bring in some avocado and have that with the provided bread and it's good enough for us at least. Oh, the bed was squeaky, but didn't hear too much from other rooms. Those wanting absolute quietness probably shouldn't stay central anyway; this is at a quiet street though so it's good enough for most.
Good value hotel that exceeded expectations at this price”
Comfortable bed and warm (almost too warm!) room. At the price I paid it represented very good value for money and breakfast was an added bonus. Location ideal for an evening at the theatre and to do business in the centre of London. Would certainly stay here again. Only criticism was the shower which was tiny and difficult to control the temperature of, without a scalding or a cold shock!
Met the owner of the hotel who went out of her way to arrange medicine for me..very very thoughtful. The hotel is located close to all that is reqd for ..tube station, bus station, hyde park, oxford street, kensington etc
100 metre from Queensway MRT. 500 metre from Paddinton. Opposite of Kensington Park. Location is superb. Building kinda old. Need some refurbishment. Some room with and some without aircond. With lift is a plus.
This hotel was ok. Bed is not comfy at all, shower was tiny I couldn’t move to wash my hair! Breakfast was ok and it was a great location
Wow i was so taken back with the troy hotel.I read some reviews that were not good but myself and my daughter stayed in room 501 for two nights 17 _19 july and we could not fault a thing......The staff all over the hotel were excellent and so helpful. The breakfast was perfect and the staff on breakfast were so pleasant. We had a kettle, hairdryer, shampoo and shower gel and soap.A ceilang fan and a free standing fan were also in the room plus a fridge which was great. The beds were comfey and the pillows were great.. The shower was very powerful and loads of hot water...I will be staying at the troy hotel on my next visit. The location was perfect just beside hyde park..
Good price, good breakfast, old room”
Check in and check out were a breeze, the staff were nice. The single twin room I was in was small but that's expected. The only downside there is that the carpet was pretty old and stained. And the breakfast was eclectic but was yummy!
Great Location, Value for Money, No English Breakfast”
It's location is on a street that is 5 minutes walking distance from the bus stop, the train station and a public park. It is also next to a touristy street with lots of restaurants, cafe (starbucks) fast food and mini groceries for basic necessities. The only downside is that they have toast, cheese and boiled egg for breakfast everyday!
highly recommend ”
I really enjoyed my staying at Troy hotel. Location is perfect. Bus station is just in 3mins walking distance. Breakfast was quite nice. You will have boiled egg, fresh milk, coffee, hot bread, apple juice and yogurt which is just perfectly enough for breakfast. definitely use again next time.
Small cosy comfortable room for one ...”
Small cosy comfortable room for one with good shower, washbasin and WC. Recently well-refurbished in traditional hotel style. Very comfortable bed, good carpet and furnishings, tea making facilities, safe, TV. Good continental breakfast. Free WiFi dropped out for whole of last day of 5 night visit. Well-located near Queensway Tube, Kensington Gardens and buses to Oxford Street.
A Quiet and clean hotel with good location”
We enjoyed our stay in troy hotel. The hotel has lift and is within walking distance to the Queensmary tube station and paddington train station. It is also near the hyde park christmas market. The room and the bathroom is quite spacious for 3 beds. It is quite well decorated and with good view. Breakfast is simple but it is good enough as an early morning meal. The lobby does not look impressive and can be improved to make the hotel more attractive.
Staff very rude- in wrong industry”
Arrived from Australia late in the evening to reception staff who could not be bothered lifting his head. Very rude an dun welcoming. Staff got worse from there... Booked an airport transfer for me but forgot to tell me it was full... Leaving me frantically calling a cab to get to the airport They sent us on incorrect bus lines, and had no idea directions to major attractions. On the plus side great location, rooms very warm
Good hotel in excellent location but poor WiFi”
This is a good hotel in an excellent location just opposite Kensington Gardens and close to Queensway Tube but it is let down by poor WiFi. Good breakfast, good bathroom with good shower but no tub. Lift works well. Comfortable beds. Carpeted throughout with reasonable lighting and comfortable feel. Has seen it's best days, though. Luggage can be left for free. Helpful staff. Only one bedside light in twin room, which was not situated between both beds. I paid 75 pounds/night, which makes it good value for London.
From the time we arrived at the Hotel we were comfortable, the staff were friendly and very helpful. breakfast was great and with a lot of choice. The location is central to shopping and 3 railway stations all within walking distance. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are also a 5 minute walk away.. Will definitely recommend and stay again.
Nice staff and easy access”
When we arrived, we were welcome with smile by the staff incharged and the check-in process was so fast and smooth. Everything was arrange nicely. We booked 2 twin sharing rooms and was given one upgraded room (deluxe double with extra bed which could occupy three people). The room was quite large and clean. The other room (twin sharing) also clean and nice. The toilet was clean and towels were change everyday. Only the WiFi connection need to be upgrade (intermittent during the access inside the room).
Great location, squeaky floors”
The hotel is very conveniently located. Shopping, restaurants, tube stations and bus stops are within 2 min. walk. Nice residential area near Hyde park. The stuff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, however the floors are incredibly squeaky, as they were original and have never been replaced. The same is the mattress - very firm and worn out. We had to request a comforter and a few extra pillows to survive few nights we have stayed. The room was not huge, but spacious enough with queen bed, coffee table, two armchairs, and enough room at the entrance to accommodate our luggage. Continental breakfast and Wi-Fi internet was included. The breakfast was adequate. Excellent place to stay for a few days if not for the uncomfortable bed.
Sweet staff that tried hard, but it just is not a place you would do twice.”
A bathroom where you have as much room on the toilet as in your plane seat, a broken lift with a room on the 3rd floor (lovely they carried my bag up, but my bum knee still had to carry me), breakfast in a rather cheerless basement... 🙄
Lift breakdown and Unfriendly staff”
The lift broke down during my second day of stay and my room was at the 5th floor. The reason I choose this hotel because of the lift facility. With my weak knees, I have to go up and down the stairs of the 5th floor through out the remaining 4 days of my stay. When asked the staff when the lift will be repaired, keep on saying tomorrow will be fine. Even after the day I left, nothing being done. Biggest nightmare was to lug down my luggage during check-out without any help from any of the staff.
