Short walk from the train stations, room was cramped and no space for large bags, a lot of backpackers with sweat clothing, and socks so the dorm room smelted bad. They have fridge, microwave, snack oven, hot water, Tae and coffee, but no counter space. The showers and toilets are clean. Have laundry service.
Amazing place to stay”
Comfotable and place is clean. Staff is alsp very friendly. Location is about 5 mins walk from the train station. The bed structure was moving slightly because it was on wheels but the mattress itself is comfortable. Wished there were a couple more bathrooms!
Nice stay out of Kawaguchiko lake area”
Align at Gekkoji station, 3 stations away from Kawaguchiko and walk bout 5mins from there. Quite neighbourhood. Rent a bicycle from the hotel and had a great time cycling around town, mt. Fuji was very clear and it' a good 15mins exercise to churito pagoda. Highly recommend this place if you need to be away from norms touristy Kawaguchiko area but might be hard for Muslim to find food here. I just1 had my instant noodles and sandwiches ready to keep me full for my 2days and 1 night stay.
Good location close to nightlife”
Good location a few hundred metres walk from station & 7/11. The Japanese style rooms are large as the beds fold up (they are still comfortable) so there is a bit of space to move around. There’s no real space to make food but there is a toaster & a kettle provided. There’s also not much relaxing space except for a smokers balcony with half a dozen chairs and a couple chairs inside but all of this is right outside the dorm door. There is however a pub owned by Michael downstairs which is open most nights. Michael and the pub staff are friendly but I wouldn’t say the same about the hostel reception staff. Good location if you want to go boozing as there’s heaps of side-alleys very close by with small bars & food places. I would stay here again.
2nd time around”
It's my 2nd time staying at the hostel and what can I say, still a good one. The room this time (good for 4) was a little bit cramped compared with the room (good for 2) on my 1st stay which was a little spacious for the number of guest. Won't mind staying at this hostel again when I go back.
The best place to stay in Mt. Fuji area. ”
Best place to stay in Mt. Fuji area. The staff were very helpful with surroundings information and very friendly. The room was absolutely clean and comfortable. It was a very pleasant stay. And the best thing is the owner, Michael, whom we met at his bar just down below the hostel. Trust me, this hostel got everything from comfy stay to good drinks! Just ask the owner of the best place to see Mt. Fuji and the town and he will gladly show you the place with his own drawings. Thank you Michael!
Great location when going to Chureito Pagoda”
It was actually a little bit hard to find upon arrival but once we got there, it was easier to navigate around the place the next day. We arrived late in the evening and still the staff greeted and assisted us in a very friendly manner. She was very helpful. The room was clean and spacious although it was quite awkward to talk or make other sounds (music, etc.) even when inside the room as the place was really quiet and it was like everyone can hear you from the next room. Clean drinking water was available, clean showers and toilets. We had to pay extra for a towel though. Would definitely recommend this place for travelers especially those who want to go to Chureito pagoda. Perfect location just a few minutes away by foot.
Pleasant place to crash in at Fuji-yoshida”
Basic accommodation was as expected. Clean place with plenty of dining options nearby. The receptionists were very fluent in English and were helpful. Free internet and wifi available. Location-wise, Gekkoji station is 5 minutes away while Fujisan station is about 15 minutes by foot. Overall, it was a solid stay for my short weekend trip to see Mt. Fuji.
clean room, friendly staffs, good location”
it was a great experience staying in such a cheap hotel with large spaces and friendly, helpful staffs who speak good English. There was a restaurant owned by the same owner of the hostel and also Japanese style restaurant across the street. If you feel hungry at night, you can walk for 5 to 10 minutes to reach 7-11 to get coffee or food. The hostel itself is equipped with toaster, microwave and washing machine and tea/coffee is free. You can get larger room with dorm price if it is in low season.
budget saver, friendly staffs, clean rooms”
it was close to station(within 5 minutes walk), if you are not going in Fuji mountain climbing season, the rooms are available and cheap(like you can stay at a bigger one with the dorm budget). Staffs are friendly, helpful and can speak good English. There was an American restaurant right below the hotel run by the same owner but didn't open everyday. There was a Japanese restaurant right across the street and if you want to buy cheap food and fruit, you can go to the 7-11 which is 5 to 10 minutes away, opens 24 hours.
Great Value for MOney!”
Very friendly staff!
Good to stay when your plan is not concrete”
Flexible checkin and checkout
peaceful, quiet , chilling”
If you find someplace to stay near Kawaguchiko but not too busy. This place is one I recommended. From train station near the lake to Gekkouji station is 30 min. and you can walk from gekkouji station about 50-100 meters to this hostel. Clean toilet with shower room. I will comeback!
Excellent Facilities & Clean in Value Room”
When i first came to this hostel i feel homie and comfortable with the atmosphere, the facilities also excellent, Toilet, Shower, Kitchen & Room are clean and neat. The Staff are friendly and ready to help, even when my credit card have a little problem, the staff are help me with pleasure
The Ideal Stay For Mt Fuji”
Hostel is ideally located to train station, attractions & buses. Facilities & room (Japanese style) can only be described as superb with a view of Mt Fuji. Staff are extremely helpful & courteous. Supermarkets are close & handy.
Clean hostel and recommended ”
Overall I m happy. The hostel is quite clean like most of the reviews. I arrived at about 6-7pm. And a 20s young tall gentleman with smiling face was serving me patiently. He was quite helpful and polite to explain thing to me. Like what other reviews said, this hostel doesn't provide towel and soup. But, this is a hostel so I expect I would need to ready all these stuff myself. And with that less expensive room rate, I think it is fair enough that this hostel doesn't provide soup and towel to the guest. Another thing I feel happy is, you can rent bicycle from this hostel and move around. So I rent it and visited the famous tourists spot nearby. But I don't think I want to come back this small town again. Because this small town is very quiet during day and night time, and not many shops are open at night. anyhow, if u wish to spend one night in this small town, I m happy to recommend u this hostel for one night stay.
Close to Chureito pagoda”
It's a station away from Chureito pagoda. You can even walk to that spot overlooking Fujiyoshida town with Fujisan as the background. So beautiful! It's three stations away from Kawaguchiko (train fare is 300 yen one way), where most local and highway buses depart to tourist spots and other prefectures.
An easy 7 minute walk from Gekkoji station brought me to this delightful hostel. The greeting and orientation from 'Butchy' was the kindest, warmest and most helpful that any weary traveller could hope for, and he cheerfully helped with researching and printing off maps, schedules etc. Thank you so much Butchy. Thanks also to Koyuki and the others (sorry for forgetting your names) for your kindness and help. The traditional room with tatami was a great choice; so warm, cosy and just beautiful. The hostel is very well equipped, spotlessly clean and very quiet during the late winter period. I would return again tomorrow if I could.
Get off at Gekkouji station!”
The hostel was 10-15 minutes walk from Fujisan station but only 3 minutes walk from Gekkouji station. I wished I knew about that sooner. The staffs are capable of communicating in English which is helpful because most backpackers that come to this area are looking for hiking adventures and that they often need the staffs' assistance for that purpose. Also you can view mount Fuji from the lounge. If you're lazy, you can just watch the sunrise from the lounge!
Basic hostel - a little hard to find. Be certain to go to the visitor information centre and get directions - it will be a lot easier. If you are late email for a map. It's about a ten minute walk from the train station and there are excellent connections for Tokyo / five lakes / Fuji. Staff are incredibly helpful as is the visitor information centres at all the train stations.
