Completely rude and unprofessional staff - avoid!”

We checked in and went to the restaurant for lunch. The chicken fried rice had very little taste although the noodles were alright. My boyfriend took a bite of our third spring roll and I noticed and pulled a long dark hair from both his mouth, and the middle of the spring roll. We understood from the restaurant manager we’d get 50% off the whole bill, but when she showed us the bill she had only taken 50% off the spring rolls, that had her staffs hair in them, that we ate. Completely insulting. She rudely shook her head and literally said “I don’t care” and pointed for us to go talk to the hotel manager who was equally as unhelpful. She comp’d the lunch but we explained the issue was her untrained and impolite restaurant manager. Eventually a number of staff had gathered as we tried to explain the issue, during which the manager picked up the phone and ignored us while her staff spoke to each other in Vietnamese as if we didn’t exist. We left and went to a much nicer hotel nearby.

Amazing stay at the foot of mua cave”

You cant get any closer to Mua cave than this. It was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlight of our stay. We love the treehouse even though its quite small compared to the rooms. Breakfast was simple and good. You should also purchase the souvenirs from here. Much better rates than Old quarters.

        Amazing”

Beautiful and scenic resort. It comes with amazing site seeing options that is the Hang Mua caves. We stayed for 2 nights during Tet and it was really festive. The hotel seems to be run government and the staff were beauracratic and not helpful. They promised early check in at 5am but there was nobody in the reception and we slept on the sofas in the reception. Ensured so much mosquito bites. The receptionist comes at 7am and tells us that the check in is at 2pm. OMG. They lost 2 of my shorts while washing. They did compensate after much discussions. Restaurant, food, staff were great.

        Review score”

Had informed the property that we would be arriving around 4AM as we were taking a sleeper bus. They said it was fine and someone would be there to check us in. When we arrived there were no lights on at all and the front gate was locked. Stood outside trying to open the gate and find a way in for about a half hour before someone finally came out. Even tried calling multiple times but no answer. They then took us to our room in the pitch black without saying a word to us. Key got stuck in the door and was a problem for our entire stay. Outdoor bathroom was completely unusable. Everything covered in algae and bugs and leaves. This should be part of the room cleaning but is currently neglected. Room was nice but there is no soundproofing in the bathroom so you can hear every word and sound from the next room. TV also did not work. The location was okay but the road to get here is very rough (under construction) making it difficult to navigate the area on a scooter. Further, the whole site is under construction making it noisy and dirty with little to do on the property. Would not recommend staying here.

Beautiful stay away from the busy streets and flocks of tourist away from the town. Rooms are clean and nice but could be better with good maintenance. Wake up to beautiful and serene scenery of Mua Caves.

        Great location”

If It wasn’t for the awesome location of this property I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s located at “mua cave”, the best lookout in Ninh Binh, and because of that you get free entry. (Save 100k dong a person). Beside that, the lodges are run down ( our room phone didn’t work, the electricity would shut off) The staff is terrible, when we checked out there was no one at reception to check us out, we almost missed our bus because of it. Every time you walk back into the lodge you get yelled at by the parking staff and ticket office of the mua cave to buy a ticket, very badly organized for the guests staying at the lodge. The restaurant is over priced and not good, + bad service. They also rent scooters but it’s 2x more expensive then renting them at the Tam Coc town. A taxi to Tam Coc cost 50k-100k (10min drive), a huge discrepancy depending on the taxi driver. Theirs a lot of potential but very badly organized, probably best to stay in Tam Coc.

        Awful ”

The place is just ridiculously bad...I can't stress enough how bad it is... The only reason I booked is because it was the closest to mua caves and I thought if I wanted to go there for the sunrise I can just walk. The thing I didn't realize that every tourists going to mua caves has to pass through the hotel. Imagine hundreds of tourists going by you door! Also those tourists leave tons of garbage behind. So the area is very dirty. Another thing is hotels under major construction! They were doing something right next to my house so starting 8am it sounded like walls are about to come down. Food is disgusting. I wish I could give zero stars..

Do yourself a favour and book as many nights here as possible. In my opinion, they could be charging more per night. Great food, peaceful location, and the room was very comfortable. Couldn’t rate this place higher.

Room has no heater or heated beds. It's located right next to a cave. So it's extremely cold at night, during winter (1st week of dec). As we checked in at night, we had to sleep in a really COLD room with many layers of thermal wear. We were given a portable heater and a thicker blanket the next day. But not enough to warm the BIG room. Bathroom not very well maintained and abit dark, making the view of cave in bathroom looks abit scary at night. Not really a pleasant stay as room is really freezingly cold. Maybe good for summer time. Only good thing is the powerful flow of hot shower and fast speed wifi. But bathtub is very high and quite dangerous to get in and out, esp for children and old people. Very big and nice compound. Walking distance to Hang Mua peak. This means anyone, not just hotel guests, can access to the compound. Some reno/construction work in progress. But not causing any inconvenience. Food, average. Staff, pleasant. Cannot really walk out far to explore.

Pros: air con very good, great shower, comfy bed, room was literally 10mtrs from start of Hang Mua steps, entrance fee to Hang Mua included in room price, can rent out good bikes for cycling to Trang An or Tam Coc, location is great Cons: Facilities are limited, restaraunt is okay, biggest con is electricity knocks on and off every so often as they are so far from the grid

This is a lovely spot with plenty of space between each separate bungalow. The restaurant provides great food served with love by some friendly staff. From here you can see the stairs which lead up to the top of a ridge with fantastic views. You can hire both push bikes and motor bikes to check out the area including a great spot where you paddle through several caves and can walk to some beautiful Buddhist Temples.

The location of this ecolodge is stunning at the base of Mua Caves. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The room we stayed in was quaint with beautiful views the only downfall the washroom in the adjoining unit was adjacent to ours and we could hear everything from their washroom. The meals were average but filling. We would return to this lodge.

We enjoyed our stay until my friend's bag was bitten by a rat. Fortunately, we got our refund for the bag upon request at the counter. We still paid for the hotel room fees. The hotel should look into the pest control initiative to prevent this from happening again.
