Great hotel in the heart of rainforest jungle”
Superb hotel for travellers who wish to experience rainforest adventure. Although the lack of wifi or poor internet service was a bit of a let down but overall the many activities which the national park got to offer really made us forgot about it. Especially when our young son could not spend any time on the mobile phone but was forced to get involved with the outdoor activities. We really had a wonderful time in Mulu, thanks for the services provided by Marriott especially the ease of transportation to and fro the national park office.
This is a nice relaxed hotel and good value for money. Communal areas are well laid out and spacious. Rooms are well appointed although could probably do with a bit better ventilation as things do get a bit damp in the forest. Would definitely recommend the hotel and the area in general for families
Beautiful resort close to the park thanks to the complementary shuttle. Large buffet breakfast. Nice and helpful staff. Rooms are clean and well equipped. If you want the most quiet rooms (away from the river and the electric generators), go to the farthest block from the lobby (around the room 140). This is some walk to the lobby and restaurant but worth it for silence. The restaurant is expensive but the asian food is good.
Great service in a great location!”
What a great experience. The staff was so friendly and professional, food was great and the hotel is clean and beautiful! We enjoyed 2 tours that was arranged by the hotel and the guide was competent, friendly and had allot of interesting facts to share. We will recommend Mulu Marriott and surrounding trips to anyone!
5 Star Service Hotel in the greeneries ”
We booked for 2 nights for nature excursions at Mulu National Park with King Bed and river view. Very nice ambience and setting surrounded by nature. Unlimited transfer between the hotel and Mulu National Park. All the staffs from reception to restaurant, etc are very polite, courteous and helpful. My partner was given a birthday surprise with decorated bed on the birthday and birthday cake while staff singing a birthday song. It was very memorable and enjoyable stay. Wifi only available at hotel lobby and swimming pool were a little small. However, everything else such as excellent service and good ambience close to nature compensate that. It’s good to be out of digital world (without or minimal wifi) to immerse into the nature completely. The facility is considered well-maintained for a 20 plus years old hotel. Breakfast are adequate to start for the daily excursion to the nature. One important highlight is that the hotel management fulfils the social responsibility by creating job opportunity to the local tribes which in return, improve the overall quality of life for the tribal residents. Strongly recommend to this hotel for the comfort, hospitality and memorable experience!
great location, beautiful hotel, and staff”
The hotel is located close to Mulu National Park - 5 minutes away by shuttle bus which is available whenever you wish. The hotel is beautiful and set in the middle of the rainforest. Very comfortable and serene. Great staff and very helpful. Breakfast is also good
Good but expected more”
Gorgeous rooms, but could hear the neighbors moving around. Had power issues throughout the night which caused the ac and lights to turn on/off which woke us up multiple times. Ac whistled very loudly while cooling the room which made it difficult to sleep. Check out is 12 and check in is 3. Given that the second flight out to Miri is 3pm and there’s 3 hours between room switch overs, thought we could have a little later check out. Not the case. First time I’ve ever been denied a late check out at any hotel. Restaurant food was ok. Had better meals at the Mulu park cafe and for half the price. If I had another option of a nice place to stay in Mulu, I would and will strongly consider staying in the park’s accommodation next time.
Transport from & to airport was provided, hence peace of mind. Staff were friendly & helpful. Nice ambience & room was great. However, food can be improved as it was just average & bland to our liking. The restaurant was hot & stuffy although there was aircond. Overall, nice & comfortable place surrounded by nature.
Esther from Singapore”
Hotel view is superb, staffs are friendly and helpful. Transport to & fro Mulu park is free and pretty frequent. Surprised to spot a few fireflies on a tree as we walk back to the hotel in one of the nights! The hotel is in the "jungle" area so be prepared for very limited wi-fi access. It is a good get away imo!
LOVED it. ”
Amazing and accomodating staff, so quiet at night, really feel like you're in the wilderness. Close to park, and happy to drop and fetch you. I LOVED IT.
Perfect combination of luxury and nature”
Marriott Mulu is perfectly located, very close to Mulu Park with free shuttle to and fro at any time of the day. The service is excellent and the staff is sincere and friendly. Food is good despite it having only one restaurant.
Yes, it is in the middle of rain forest and made completely 'floating' from the forest bed! If you are looking for a tranquil getaway, this is the place that you need to be spending time in. Shall return when my son is big enough to do harder trails and cave walks.
Fantastic place. Spacious n superb. Well above expectation room amenities. Wonderful staffs. Very polite n helpful. Everyone is a gem. Thanks to all of you for making it a most memorable, wonderful n adventurous stay.
Dear Balakrishnan, Thank you for staying with us at Mulu Marriott and leaving us such a wonderful feedback on your stay. We hope to welcome you back again one day. Thanks & Regards, Jane Cluster PR Manager
ENJOY THE NATURE! RELAX! RELAX! RELAX!”
Is time to unplug yourself! Over here, you can sit back and doing nothing. Internet line is weak here, not available in room, only in public area near restaurant and swimming pool. Having transport every half an hour to the mulu national park, really convenient. Breakfast here is fantastic, variety! The only throwback is the sand flies especially in the public area. Food here expensive! Bring lots of cash.
Excellent resort ! Staff incredibly helpful and kind. A few improvements or suggestions: salad items need to be available at all times. I could not order a salad in my 4 night stay also, pillows in room appeared to be down and fluffy but had an awkward smell to them they should make sure the down is clean I will definately return ! This place is off he hook ! They had two for one massages in the spa on one of my days get the signature massage wiith two women working on you together. fantastic is all I can say !!
This hotel is so beautiful. The location and the layout is stunning. I had a lovely time here. It was nice after a day of tour and trekking and caving to come back to this luxury. I loved the lobby area heaps and the furniture was so unique too. The staff was wonderful. The only little setback (If I could call it one) is that there is no wifi in the rooms . But with such stunning scenery all around who needs wifi? Food & especially drinks is a bit on the pricey side so it is best to get a buffet breakfast with the room. But having said that there are cheaper options at the Park HQ. But the food is of better quality at the hotel so I didn't really mind paying more for food at the hotel. A lot of food including the fish, meat, fruits is flown in from Miri so when you take that into consideration it really is worth it especially for the comfort this place offers.
Rustic & luxurious”
the hotel was an oasis of luxury in a rainforest that is isolated and hard to get to. Staff were trained and when one considers their natural Environment and the steep learning curve, have a challenging situation. Nevertheless, the senior staff were well informed and trained. Belinda Ngo was pleasant, really helpful and clear minded. Chef Musa was a delight to engage - especially enjoyed his rendang, and Mr Guna was always helpful going the extra mile for my decaf coffee. We'd recommend this place to friends.
national park and 5 star service”
The free shuttle between the national park and hotel was excellent and always there to come back to the hotel. There are more food options near the national park but food at the resort was expensive (as you might expect). The breakfast and meals we had were fantastic. Staff were incredibly helpful from the bar to the resturant to the check in staff, I can't say enough about them. We prefered to book tours at the park but Steve, the guide at the hotel was excellent and I think his tours would be wonderful. The pool was so good and a great relielf from the heat. Put your phone and computer away and just enjoy the board games and relaxing atmosphere of the resort. Definately would love to stay here again.
A disappointing part of our trip”
Mulu itself is INCREDIBLE we did the four main showcaves, the bat exodus, racer cave and spent time boating up and down the river. If you’re considering a trip to mulu, I would say with all my heart, GO! our stay in the NP was great but personally I was pretty disappointed by the mulu Marriott. This was our fancy, treat ourselves stay we had planned for our last stop during our time in Malaysia and maybe we just had our expectations high but honestly it was let down. Just simple things I would expect at a nice resort like this, especially for the price paid compared to other options in country and compared to actually staying at the lodge in the park. There weren’t ever towels at the pool even though the hotel was only at 20% capacity I had to ask multiple people multiple times each time we tried to swim and would only receive towels long after we had just stood there and drip/air dried. We would have to flag down and call out to the servers in the restaurant or get up and go chase them down if we needed anything. They seemed almost afraid to swing by the table or make eye contact (not with us personally but in general) with any of the guests. It was a bit of an awkward ‘the hired help’ colonial kinda feel to the place as if they had been told to stay invisible. we always had to ask several times to get water with our meals and usually just went to go grab it ourselves. Not ideal after long days of walking and climbing in a hot humid climate. Give water..! During meals we would order cocktails and we would finish dinner without our drinks ever arriving. That happened twice. They have three different cars to shuttle people between the park and the hotel but there doesn’t seem to be a nice routine to have one waiting at either end switching round when people show up, even though the times people come and go are predictable and clockwork when the set tours start and finish, which means that it can take over 20 minutes for the van to pick you up. Not a big deal, but i
It’s a nice ,cozy & spacious place except the WiFi is very slim”
Lol, when i get in the hotel truck it’s look like our Chinese culture truck that’s send decease people but anyway it’s open air that’s at least we don’t smell any sweat n funny smell like inside the Aircon van
