      Pleasant stay with great service!”

Friendly and attentive staff, Good recommendations, Nice balcony place for breakfast

Staff was friendly and attentive to your needs, willing to go extra miles to give their best recommendations for places to eat local food and tips on going around bagan, including getting back your jacket that was left on previous connecting bus. The hotel owner also offered us room to rest/shower even after we checked out and waiting for night bus. Breakfast (banana, samosa, fried fritters, coffee/tea) was at the balcony in front of each room while they are getting their dining area upgraded. Nice view of the garden + koi pond. Room was clean with a big metal case for you to lock your valuables. Water pressure was a bit low though but good enough. Due to lack of time, we booked a taxi via Mya Thida and the driver was knowledgeable with Major in history, briefly explained most of the spots that we stopped for. If you have time, try joining group tour with Mya Thida in which you will sit on a 8pax van with a guide. Night bus from Bagan to Yangon was booked via Mya Thida too. JJ express. which wow-ed me several times throughout the journey. 18000ks for 30-seater bus, welcome drink & blanket, on board meal, bus attendants, mineral water, wet towel and chinese pop songs covered by burmese singer. Definitely a great place to stay in New Bagan!

      Great hotel with amazing staff”

Very helpful and informative staff, lovely large room with balcony area, impeccable clean

I had a great nights stay at Mya Thida. Having arrived on a night bus from Yangon at 5.30am, they were kind enough to let me check into my room straight away and even have me a lovely breakfast. The owner of the hotel speaks wonderful English and took his time to explain to me which Pagodas to visit on my two day trip in Bagan. He did not disappoint as I also had a lonelyplanet and many of the ones he me toned were not even commented on in the book. Also the restaurant that he mentioned was called 'The Moon' in Old Bagan and that was excellent as I found food in the local restaurants to be rather bland and far too salty. I checked out the next day at 6.30pm to get another night bus and again they were kind enough to let me keep my room for the entire day. It's a 30minute bike ride to old Bagan so it's not a centrally located hotel, however it doesn't feel like that long when you have such amazing sights to look at along the journey. I hired the bike from the guesthouse for $4 for a mountain bike (it's worth spending a little extra to have a geared bike as there are a couple of long gradual hills). So even though its not the cheapest place to stay I definitely got more than my money's worth. Thank you Mya Thida for a great stay in beautiful Bagan!

      Great little guesthouse”

Clean comfy bed, strong air con, great staff

Mya Thida is a really cute little place with a garden and pond in the courtyard. I stayed in the 4-bed dorm room, but since it was low season the room was never full. It was nice to finally find a dorm option in Myanmar (there are mainly only private rooms in this country, which can be a bit frustrating for a solo traveler), however for $15 a night it seemed a bit pricey for a dorm. I've been paying about $15 for my own room elsewhere. But it made up for it with a great, local style breakfast (stick with it, guys! The white bread toast every other hotel provides as "breakfast" gets old fast), the cleanest room I've had in Myanmar, extremely friendly staff, and an awesome air con. They also let me check in straight away when my bus got in at 5am! The hotel is in New Bagan, so you have to pay quite a fee to get a taxi from the bus stop, but I thought it was a nicer area than Nyaung U. Most of the locals I met live in New Bagan and you can see plenty of local people going about their daily lives. Some nice little restaurants down the street as well (I ate at Ma San Win twice for some Myanmar curry. Friendly staff and really good sweets that they give you after your meal). Only a 10-15 min. bike to Old Bagan and the main temples. If you're on a bit of a budget I would definitely recommend Mya Thida.

      Calm setting with attentive staff”

wonderful staff, quiet setting, cheap deal

This guest house is tucked in a quiet corner of New Bagan which can be a bit dear compared to the dirt-cheap options at Nyaung Oo. But what Mya Thida has to its advantage is its calm setting and spacious rooms (with balcony) that allow you some privacy. After a day of biking, it sure is relaxing to sit on your balcony and stare at the little fish pond in the middle of the guest house (or chat with other travelers from their balconies). The staff are so warm and attentive, they would help you arrange everything from onward bus tickets, horse cart rides to bike rentals (I’m talking to you, Thin Ha!). Be aware though that prices here are much more expensive compared to the Old Bagan area. The hostel charged us 25,000 kyat for a whole-day horse cart tour, whereas the same would cost about 15,000 – 20,000 kyat in Old Bagan. I guess this price is reasonable because of the distance. If you choose to bike to the temples, it would give you a good 10- 15 minutes of pedal work before you get there. Still, I would chose to stay here again if ever I come back in Bagan.

An excellent choice for all budgets”

      location, value, staff

I am very please with my stay at Mya Thida. I booked it in haste and my plan was to get there and figure everything else out. I ended up not wanting to leave the property because I enjoyed the staff so much. The hotel is an excellent value, and really for all budgets. I typically travel in the $100 a night hotel range, and found this place to be most pleasant. The AC works great which is an absolute necessity - Bagan is hot! Most importantly the staff was incredible. They all were extremely friendly and attentive. Breakfast was served on your front porch each morning. The owner "Onzi" moved back to Bagan after spending several years in Singapore. He went out of his way to arrange everything from temple and boat tours, to bus rides and a cooler full of cold Myanmar beer for the road. I would highly recommend this hotel.

One of the best accommodation ”

      Service food and location

We had a splendid stay at Mya Thida a month ago, in fact it was the best hostel we have stayed in Myanmar. The room smelled nice, was clean and had all basic amenities. The owner was very friendly and hospitable, he treated us free breakfast upon arrival and offered a late check out the following day for us to do a tour. I would recommend visitors to follow their tour in bagan as the information provided had allowed us to appreciate mysterious Bagan even more and comfortably. We love Bagan! Thumbs up for their service! One suggestion though, the lights in the room could be brighter so visitors can enjoy some reading in the room. Singapore

A Little Gem in New Bagan”

      1. Very helpful and friendly staff. 2. Location in New Bagan 3. Clean comfortable dorm room.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in New Bagan, and extended another night at Mya Thida. Weilinn and Thiha were exceptional in their helpfulness, and this I observed were extended to all other guests too. Many, including myself, asked for help to call and book hotels for onward journeys. On day of arrival I was lucky to get a very early check-in at 4:30 am. Weilinn also shared the information on temple-hopping and other things to do in Bagan. Mya Thida - highly recommended! :)

Comfortable and friendly budget hotel in New Bagan”

Friendly and helpful staff, location, breakfast service.

I stayed at the Mya Thida hotel during my 4 night visit to Bagan. My stay was very enjoyable and the hotel is well run, comfortable, and a nice bargain compared to other hotels in Bagan. The manager and staff arranged an excursion to Mt Poppa on the behalf of me and some of the other hotel guests that was a lot of fun. And it's great to start off each day with breakfast being served to you on your hotel room balcony facing the hotel courtyard. The breakfast changed a little every day but always included coffee or tea, fresh fruit, rice, and other local dishes.

      Best value in Bagan”

Value for money, awesome breakfasts, solid location.

You get more than what you pay for here. It's just dorms, but I met other people paying a lot for other accommodations throughout Bagan. There's patios for each room that make great chitchat places to contact other travellers. Non functioning wifi. Tips: buy water and beer off property, they charge a bit more at Mya Thida. Also buy boat tickets at the bottom of School street because they're only $30 there whereas this hotel charges a bit more. The breakfast here changes daily, but it was always filling. Down the street across from seven sisters is a restaurant called Harmony which is the best place to get a cheap large meal nearby.

Wonderful staff, clean rooms, excellent price!

I stayed in the dorm room, as recommended by a friend. The room was clean and comfortable, with lockers, A/C and free wifi. The bathroom is a good size and the shower is decent, with lots of hot water! The hotel is in New Bagan, so I cycled to Old Bagan and around the temples. It is also easy to take an electric bike or horse and cart. It was really the staff who made my stay here so great; the two guys who manage Mya Thida are fantastically helpful. They are the main reason I would recommend staying here!

Great little hotel, in the middle of New Bagan”

Balcony, big rooms for 2, bike rental

We had a great time at the Mya Thida Hotel. It's right in the middle of New Bagan - Old Bagan is about 20mins away and Nyaung Oo about 40mins away by bike. The temples and pagodas are all in that area so it's handy for sight seeing. Lots of great little restaurants withing walking distance as well. The guy at the reception didn't speak great English though but was very helpful and friendly. The only bad thing was that their bikes aren't in good condition. My pedal broke off the first day and we both had flat tires several times, and the manager wasn't helpful AT ALL about it, saying it was our own fault. Not so great customer service there!

Our overall experience is good! The hotel owner is a good English speaking person. He tells us a lot of Bagan's history and story while we are having the Bagan pagoda tour. I can feel that he is a passionate person, he likes bagan very much. Throughout the 2 days we stay in Mya Thida, the staff there is always friendly and attentive.

Great staff, clean air-con rooms, decent breakfast

We had a very comfortable 2 nights at Mya Thida. The staff there were very knowledgeable and helpful in arranging transportation (e-bikes) for our sightseeing around Bagan. There are several stores and eateries within the area that can help keep you on a budget. For Myanmar it can be hard to find a hotel that is clean, with breakfast and air conditioning at this price and Mya Thida is a good find in all three areas. Getting to New Bagan from the bus terminal was a pain, but on our e-bikes it was still very possible to see all the major sites. Would definitely stay there again because of the friendly staff and fair price.

I had a great time at the Mya Thida Hotel. I arrived in the morning, and within 30 minutes was already on a tour the owner was giving to a bunch of the other guests for a fair price. Was a wonerful day out. I was in a shared room with 4 other people and it was great. Air conditioning worked really well (except when the electricity went out, which is still common in Myanmar). Breakfast was basic but tasty, and the fish pond in the small courtyard was a very nice touch. Staff were friendly and helpful, although only the owner spoke English.

I have been travelling in Myanmar for two months (with a short trip to Kuala Lumpur to get another visa) and this is the best hotel that I encountered. Each day a new breakfast was served in my balcony room. I was allowed to stay in my room (so I could shower etc before leaving) until 6.00pm when the courtesy pickup came to take me to the bus station. The staff could not have been more helpful and if I go to write up the Ananda festival in January 2014 I will definitely stay at Mya Thida.

      Pleasant and friendly ”

each room has a front balcony--great for socializing; good Western breakfast; helpful staff

Mya Thida is a great place to stay in New Bagan, walking distance from the main road (where the restaurants/bars are), but also quiet. Each room opens onto a central balcony, which is a great way to meet your neighbors and socialize over breakfast. The Western breakfast was great, the Burmese breakfast was ok, but fried and cold. The staff speak excellent English and helped arrange bicycle rental (they also can arrange electric scooters) and a boat trip from Bagan to Mandalay. I would definitely recommend this place to other travelers!
