Lovely boutique”
My boyfriend and I went to San Francisco for thanksgiving. This boutique hotel was great for value and close to Chinatown. It was a little further away from city center than other hotels but the distance was still walkable. The room were nice, clean and comfortable. There is also a bar on the second floor and complimentary breakfast (although the options were very limited) Our stay was very enjoyable and I'd definitely go back.
Do yourself a favour and stay here”
We decided to stay at the Mystic Hotel whilst in San Francisco for our honeymoon. The staff were courteous and helpful, the hotel is in an excellent location, breakfast daily was more than adequate and filled us up well beyond lunchtime, the rooms were very clean and tidy and there were complimentary choc chip cookie's available each day (the cherry on the top). You will not be disappointed if you stay here!
Excellent hotel and great service! ”
After travelling for a while, I was delighted to get a room at the The Mystic. It was just what my sore body was in need of. The bed was very comfortable and everything was spotless. The breakfast in the morning was also outstanding. Great location in downtown San Francisco and would stay here again for sure.
Small but prime ”
The rooms are very small but the location is great. There are no facilities and the elevator takes time to arrive. It is an old building and considering the cost of living in San Francisco, it is ok value. Room cleaning was exceptional! Even when we thought we surpassed the time to get our room cleaned it was always cleaned by the time we returned to our room.
Good location and staff!”
Good place at San Francisco and good location
Lower level rooms have a view of a wall or directly into offices across the ally. ”
San Fran is so very expensive. This is a budget hotel price in a fancy pants hotel. If you need to save money like us then this place is great. If you can afford it stay somewhere nicer.
Exceptional”
1. Most parts of downtown are easy to reach either by walk or public transport. 2. This place is near Montomery and Powell BART station; so it is well connected to places outside downtown as well. 3. Staff were cooperative; complimentary breakfast was good. I fully recommend this place; serves the purpose when travelling to SF on business.
Surprisingly good”
We got an incredible deal on this hotel, which is why we got it in the first place. However, the staff is super nice and very courteous. From the checking in, coming in late at night, breakfast, and check out, they were super kind and attentive. While parking in SF is a nightmare, the garage across the street isn't too bad, but it isn't the one the hotel offers. In reality, it was cheaper to actually use that garage, too (we just took everything out of the car). Also... their breakfast is pretty good, though I admit I really wanted a pancake or waffle or something. The peppered bacon made up for it.
Stayed here again, much better experience”
In my last review, which is probably directly below this one, I said I wouldn't stay here again. But, apparently, the lure of the croissants at breakfast was too much for me to resist. It was the best price available for this level of hotel during the dates I was staying, and I was able to book a better room than the one I had last time. It was a MUCH better room, the bathroom was clean and it didn't smell, and the internet was significantly faster, assumedly because there was a better signal. The bed was again, very, very comfortable. Both times I've stayed here I was on the third floor, which I recommend. First floor is obviously lobby, second floor is dining room, and third floor is the first with rooms. Since the elevator is so painfully slow, I'll try to request a room on the third floor next time, just to make sure I don't have to walk up and down any extra stairs, while avoiding the lift.
Great location and friendly service”
this hotel was refurbished not so long ago, so it has good facilities. after reading the other reviews i requested a quiet room and got one. i had a few "incidents" happen during my stay of a week, including an accidental fire alarm that went off in the middle of the night that the staff couldn't turn off, housekeeping kept taking my tea mug away thinking it was one of theirs, and my toilet was blocked. however, these things do happen and the important thing is how they are handled. each time the staff were very friendly and helpful and made every effort to deal with the issue, so i can't really take off too many marks for the incidents. breakfast was a bit ordinary but was ok.
Ticked all the boxes!”
This hotel was THE ONLY one when booking our trip that was value for money, great location and with some style! Room was great! We didn't have a view BUT this was actually an advantage as the room stayed cool and was less noisy from the street! Bathroom was amazing for a standard room! Room cleaned everyday if needed! Staff are super friendly! We walked pretty much everywhere from hotel (or ubered when i heels haha) ... just one thing to note the breakfast is 'grab and go' style so is just coffee, fruit and pastries (good coffee tho) so dont expect to much with that! but still worth every penny!
Thank you for the kind words! Kindly, Brandon, GM
Avoid Room 309”
I have never written a review on a hotel before, but after staying at The Mystic Hotel, I just felt other travelers needed to be warned . After opening the door to my room (309) I was speechless, and not in a good way. There are two windows in the room but both of them are frosted. It came to find out later that one of the window over looked to the back alley and another one down the basement. There is only a chair in the room with no table. I thought this was going to be the worst of it, however, at 6a.m., I woke up to a startling noise and realized that there was a dumpster truck right outside my window. Needless to say, I was not able to sleep right after that. That is still not the end to my nightmare. Not too long after that, I also realized that my room is right next to the door leading to the alley so I was constantly waking up to noises that were coming from the corridor. In addition to that, the flush in the room was malfunctioned and can only be use once a day. It was really frustrating knowing that the hotel is fully aware of how awful this room is and still continues to scam people by putting them in this room Even though this hotel has a great location, near main shopping streets, restaurants, convenient access to public transport & cable car, it is still a hit and miss of what you will get.
Excellent”
Nice hotel. Nice staff. Not luxurious but had everything I needed and room was clean. Good location and good price.
Good location, reasonably clean and cosy room, simple breakfast at lobby”
Mystic Hotel is located near Union Square and main attractions of SF downtown (i.e. near Muni Bus 30 and 47 which can bring you to many places eg Chinatown, Fisherman Wharf). Room was clean and comfortable. Although our room was facing the back alley, it had good amount of sunlight. Only point to pick on is the dark corridor which looks a little dodgy in the beginning. Otherwise, all is fine for the price we paid.
Very good”
Nice quiet hotel. Very quaint in downtown SF. Close to bus line, within 30 minute walk from bay. IF you come in the summer time there is no air conditioning, but it was cool here this week, so not a problem
Good location but not so convenient”
The room was not big, but it was nice and clean with good bathroom size and amenities. It was modern yet classic, new yet traditional. The bed was spacious and comfortable. This hotel has a good location with very close proximity to Union Square; however, it was not that strategic. Since there was bus stop right in front of hotel's main and only entrance; therefore, it was not very convenient for guests with luggage since the taxi nor shared van refused to stop in front of hotel to drop them of or to pick them up.
Loved this Hotel. Great Value!!!”
Great Value! High quality rooms at lower rates than much higher priced hotels.
A stylish hotel in a great location”
I stayed here the night before the SF marathon. The location is perfect as it's just a 20 minutes walk to the starting line. The hotel is very stylish. The room is just the perfect size with a cool bathroom. I had a room in the back so it was really quiet but I imagine if your room is near the front you may hear the traffic on Stockton. The staff are friendly. I just wished I stayed one more night to give my feet a break!
Overall, pretty disappointing”
I was disappointed by my stay. The room was cute and comfortable (especially the bed), but the bathroom stunk like hell of mildew. Really, unbelievably strong smell of mildew, so much so, that I couldn't leave the bathroom door open at night, or the smell would keep me awake. Surprisingly, the bathroom was very clean, though it had very low water pressure, which made things hard. The elevator was incredibly slow, to the point of basically being nonfunctional. So, if you don't like walking up and down the stairs, request a room on a low floor. Really, the only saving grace of this entire experience was the breakfast, which was included in the price. They had the best little miniature croissants I've ever had. And you can eat them with Nutella. I also liked that they had boiled eggs, which was a nice way to get some protein in the morning. Overall, I would definitely NOT stay here again. But I want might wander into the dining room in the morning and pretend I'm a guest, to get another one of those croissants...
Brilliant Bohemian Chic”
Fantastic location. 5- 10 mins walk from BART station. Staff very helpful. Double Room on the small side but large enough for one person. Best breakfast I've had in years. Definitely recommend this hotel.
