very convenient”
the hotel is right in front Terminal Bus Sandakan. which is the most convenient way to move around farther away from Sandakan City without spend heavily on your pocket.

Above average”
I used to live in Sandakan. I remember looking at it and always wanted to go inside and stayed in one of the rooms. It took me about 30 years later in order to do so. I think the hotel has passed it heydays as one can see from the lobby and in the room where I stayed. The hotel has been around for about half a century and it is truly a landmark for Sandakan. But I have to give it to the management for trying to keep up with the trend and provide a much needed option in Sandakan. The hotel has a rooftop called BaLin and the place was fairly packed until closing time when I was there. Good place to enjoy couple of drinks and catch up with friends. I didn't get to try the food but from what I saw they have decent list of items on menu. The restaurant downstair in what used to be the old Malaysian Airlines office has a funky look to it. Very well thought of and if I were still living in Sandakan, I would be hanging out at this place. Don't remember the name and I only had breakfast there.

Charming hotel”
Very interesting room, with diagonal windows, a view of the Sulu Sea, bamboo shades, incredibly comfortable bed and pillows with nice bedding, great lighting - very stylish in a Asian mid-century way. Great food in the rooftop restaurant, including excellent cocktails, and also excellent Kopitiam next door. We originally planned a one night stay, but I really wanted a second night for the bed, great food and a chance to visit Agnes Keith House, a definite do not miss.

Best 'breakfast included' in Borneo.”
Lovely roof top bar with good (if slightly pricy) food. Spacious rooms, even if the technology was outdated. Unfortunately no wifi in the rooms and that in the lobby was next to useless. Staff super helpful and the breakfast was delicious.
