Exceptional”
We had 2 nights on the fifth floor, the room is simply decorated, but spacious, clean and has a great view over the bay. The receptionist was a very nice lady always kept friendly and smiling. I would think the price a bit higher this season, should not be in Cat Ba at weekend, price higher too. We rent a scooter driving around the island, beaches around the town were busy, nice hiking in national park. The next day we did a day trip to Ha Long bay without the hotel organization and had the most memorable day.

Good price/quality ”
This little hotel on the touristy (very touristy!!!) beach strip of Cat Ba island is everything you'd expect from a low budget stay. This little hotel is clean, offers AC and fan (more than I've had in most budget places) and all facilities a traveller needs. The owners are friendly and helpful people who are willing to help you whenever and rent out good quality motorbikes to scoot around the island. They are happy to help with transport services as well, but I do recommend everyone do your research before booking any of these. Tourist traps and bad treatment lurk around every corner here in Vietnam...

good value for money”
The armature in the bathroom was very old, but it works good and was clean. The bed could be softer but for one night it was ok. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got one more blanket because it was very cold in february. We had a beautiful sea view from our room (all rooms in all hotels at this street in Cat Ba had a sea view.) Don't forget, we speak here about a budget hotel with very small expectations, that's why all in all it was a good value of money!

We had a very nice stay in the Nam Phuong hotel, the view from the hotel is very good as well as the location. The staff was helpful with bookings and information. The room was clean with very hot shower.

Perfect value for money”
Not a great choice of accommodation so Nam Phuong was perfect value for money. We were able to chose our room when we arrived, and had a great sea view. Everything worked fine. Basic but the staff were lovely and went out of their way to make our stay nice. Would reccomend if you're a budget traveller

Cheap if you want your own hotel room but it smelled”
Couldn’t beat the price for 2 twin beds / to have my own room but it smelled funky, kind of like puke. The owners’ english was very limited so it was very hard to communicate. No elevator and the stairway was always dark but there are lights you can turn on, but we didn’t realize that until later. Convenient location as it was next to Like Coffee, amazing coffee place and also Cat Ba Green Trail, which we ended up booking a day trip for. Not sure if I would stay here again though.

lovely view hotel”
Staff was polite even if they didnt speak so much english, but the guy was working there gave us loads of advices and was always smiling. Foodis good and cheap. The day we were leaving we forgot out phone charging in the reception and this guy run to catch up with the bus to give it back! All in all a great experience in cat ba!

Good location, nice view from window. Loads of stairs to room. Very hard bed (Vietnamese style), no hot water. Seemed expensive but it could be Cat Ba prices.

Possibly the last little Gem in Cat Ba Town!”
This was a very a pleasant stay for us. If you understand the style & location of this hotel, it can't be beat! If you have reasonable expectations for your stay you should've happy. Everyone we encountered was very helpful & friendly. I would also recommend them for booking local tours on the island, they can get you everything you will need.

BEST VIEW IN TOWN”
I read a lot of reviews on places to stay. I pretty much picked this place for the view and read it was friendly. I arrived after dark and was greeted by the lovely owners with huge smiles. They didn’t speak English but that didn’t matter. I showed my booking ID and they showed me to my room. Basic room bathroom with a shower and 2 towels, 2 pairs of shoes, tv, aircon plus fan. Small but when all you need is a bed it was amazing!!! I woke up to one of the most beautiful views I could imagine, uninterrupted view of the bay. For $10 a night I was blown away. No breakfast or anything but the street and surroundings are full of options. They place was clean and I couldn’t recommend it more. Rooms are for sleeping and having a much needed shower so zero complains.

Good budget hotel with great views”
We stayed here in the week so it was really good value - the room was big with great retro windows looking out on the bay. Very light, and good AC. The beds were a bit hard but not the worst we've had - to be expected on this budget in Asia. The only thing that let the room down was the AC piping just emptied on the the bathroom floor, which was constantly wet. Not a big deal but a shame. The staff were friendly, the location on the front is great. We'd stay again. Good, cheap massages next door too!

Perfect Lan Ha Bay view, good wifi, great laundry”
We extended you stay as this hotel is a very good deal. Compared to hostel prices, it's is better to take a double room for the same price and enjoy privacy. Try and ask for a room on the 5th floor, you'll get a huge terrace overlooking the whole bay. Its 3 min. from ferry station. Many restaurants and shops closeby. Wifi working well and laundry done great, thank you! :)

No English speaking person at hotel, we were on 5th floor with no elevator.”
Pros were nice view of harbour, air con in room, clean room but can have ants. Cons no English speaking person at hotel, needed to call owner whenever we wanted to ask something which took a while. Not much help with information about Cat Ba, no elevator so if you don't like stairs, don't book.

Real Hanoi Hostel is the Real Deal!”
We only stayed one night after traveling back from Halong Bay. The staff was very welcoming and helpful in every aspect. When we were trying to book bus tickets to Laos, they made sure that we would be out of the country before our visas expired the next day. The room we stayed in is very large and had a huge bed! There is wifi, tv, refrigerator, and a/c in the room that all works very well. Our room was on the sixth floor which is a little bit of a hike up the stairs. However, she gave us an option of two different rooms in case we didn't want to make the walk all the way up. Also, this hostel is right next to all the night life. Which makes going out for dinner or drinks very convenient. It is down a side street so you don't have to worry about loud music or drunken people waking you if you just want a quiet night in. Overall great experience, we would definitely book here again.

Great view, friendly, awesome value for money”
Location was perfect - right on the main boulevard - walk to all. View was just fabulous from the room. Staff was great in helping us book a tour of the bay, etc. Facilities older but great value for money. Would stay again and was much better and cheaper than our other hotel there.

Fantastic view”
The hotel is at great location, we had a fantastic view to the sea from our 4th floor room. We booked two nights via Agoda, one extra night at the hotel, and the lady gave some discount. It's really basic (bed and cupboard no mosquito net not even a chair) and not extremly clean, but for this price at this location it's value for money.

Exceptional”
Such an accommodating place. Extremely helpful with helping to find cheap and incredible excursions. The staff do not speak a ton of English but that is okay! Mr. Tuan speaks fantastic English and if you’re emailing to hotel this is the person you’ll be in contact with. Cannot say enough good things about this spot.
