Superd Location”
First time to Osaka with my teenage girl. Though there were good and bad reviews of Namba Oriental, I decided to give a try and rate it. Took the Rapit from KIX - 39mins to Namba Station (last stop, you won't get it wrong). Exit from North Gate, take the lift or escalator down to 1st floor, turn right, come a cross junction, walk towards Starbucks that shopping street. Once reach the first intersection turn left and you see the hotel banner hanging down from the building. Reception is on 3rd floor. No issue pushing your luggages through the above streets, it's just 10 mins or less. Next to Hotel lobby is Lawson (24h convenient store) & Smoking room. Namba Walk which link to Subway lines is just few steps away on the right. If you cross the traffic junction on the right side from hotel lobby, it will get you to Dotonbori and ShinsaiBashi. Hotel room provides a free local Handy phone which helps alot while roaming Osaka. Room size is perfect for 2, no issue opening 3 luggages.
Thank you for choosing Namba Oriental Hotel for your recent trip in Osaka. We appreciate your valued review and sincerely look forward to welcoming you back again.
Amazingly convenient hotel ”
This was my first time staying at Namba Oriental Hotel and I am absolutely satisfied with my stay here. The hotel is conveniently located within 5-7 mins walk from Osaka-Namba and Namba station's main exit near Takashimaya. It is also within 10mins walking distance to Ebisubashi / Shinsaibashi / Dotonbori. So, even if a typhoon came down on you, you could still do some shopping (like I did). The rooms are clean and just big enough for 4 adults and the toiletries provided was excellent. My family truly enjoyed our stay at Namba Oriental and will definitely be staying here when we come to visit again. I will recommend this hotel to anyone who's visiting Osaka.
Great location and great hotel room!”
I had a great stay at the Namba Oriental. If you read some reviews, there are definitely comments on the difficulty of finding this hotel and I agree. Without an easy smartphone map, this place is a bit difficult to find because it's literally in the middle of what my friend called the "Las Vegas Strip". Do not be alarmed by the putrid smell of smoke in the elevator that brings you to the lobby. That is the worst part of the hotel and that can easily be avoided by taking the escalators from the 1st floor. Rooms were very generous for a western-style room in the middle of Osaka. You are literally two blocks from Shinsaibashi/Dotombori and you are a stone's throw from JR/Subway/Hankyu etc. train lines. Don't go to the sushi-go-round next door. I hated it.
Namba area close to stn and dining”
I've been there with my husband just 3mins walk from nankai line station which we could use this line to airport. The hotel location is superb, middle of namba and easy to reach many restaurants ,which many restaurants open 24 hrs. The room was clean and spaces compare with other japan hotels. There was router for internet connection. From here we could take subway to osaka castle, universal studio japan, kaiyukan aquarium and walked to Den Den town for gundum store...if we have a chance to visit osaka, we will go to namba and stay at namba oriental for sure.
Exceptional”
Two times we stayed at Namba Oriental Hotel and both were super fine. Hotel Officers and staff were very kind and helpful. GPS phone which we can bring out as travel guide/ buddy is provided per room for free. Amenities were very much thought of! Nice branded shampoo, hair conditioner, facial wash, body shampoo, razor, bath towel, cotton buds, hair brush and so many others. Keep it up, more power!! Thank you so much for making our Osaka stay enjoyable and hassle free😊👏👏
Very good location and comfortable!”
We arrived Osaka at very late hour, and the street was still very lively near the hotel. It was not difficult to locate the hotel and the hotel staff was very helpful in explaining the room and check-out details. There are a lot of eating places around the hotel and the subway station was within 5 mins walk. The Superior Twin room which I have booked was very spacious and even came with a back massage on the sofa, it was great to have a back massage after a long day of walking! I will definitely come back to Namba Oriental for my next visit to Osaka.
Lovely Hotel in an Ideal Location.”
We had a wonderful time staying in Namba Oriental Hotel. We were just 2 mins walk to a train station, and 5 min walk to Kuromon market. We are neighbors to a Convenient store, and good food and stalls were right beside the hotel. We corresponded with the hotel before our arrival - they were very responsive and helpful to our needs. The courtyard with the fountain lid up beautifully at night with Christmas deco lights. We will definitely come back to this hotel the next time we visit Osaka.
Such a great stay!”
It was a good experience staying in Namba oriental hotel. The location was superb, near to Namba walk, Dotonbori, and other shopping areas as well as the subway station. The complimentary handy phone with free 4G is also a big plus points since you can bring it everywhere and use it for GPS. For travellers who’d like to bring their own toiletries, you may not so since they have great ones even the facial wash ☺️ You may also opt not to bring sleepwear since they have free pajamas which they change everyday. The room is quite small though but enough for a comfortable sleep at night especially if you plan to be out most of the time during the day. So overall, great hotel choice! 👍🏻
Thank you for choosing Namba Oriental Hotel for your recent trip in Osaka. We appreciate your valued review and sincerely look forward to welcoming you back again.
very good affordable stay near eateries n shopping”
Intitally had some difficulties finding the way to the hotel, because we, girls, did not want to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs (exit E5). So we went all the way to the elevator near muji and walked back. Later, we found out that the easiest/quickest way from subway is to enter the takashimaya and took the elevator/escalator to ground floor, exit and cross the road to some sheltered shopping street which leads to the hotel (just look out for mcdonalds). It took us less than 5 minutes to reach the subway with our luggage. The hotel is good value for money. Its room is the 3rd biggest in our japan trip. If I remember correctly, this hotel provided 2 types of pillows, soft and hard. The bathroom is quite big (2nd biggest hotel toilet during our trip). Absolutely no complaint about the room. I had rented wifi device for this trip, so did not notice if this hotel provide free wifi. We did not include breakfast during our stay. It's about 15 minutes walk to otaroad/den den town. Less than 10 minutes to dotonbori/shinsaibashi shopping arcade, not to mention takashimaya and the underground shopping arcade. There's a 24hr convenience store nearby, bought Osaka food and non edible souvenirs from a shop opposite of the hotel. There's a drugstore selling beauty and other necessities right at the corner. The only negative is that this is far from the JR-Namba station. Must walk around 20 minutes. So do give some time for walking and getting lost in the underground maze (my google map did not work well in the underground), if you are going to use the JR Pass to go to the airport. I would book this hotel again next time I go to namba.
Another great stay”
My stay at namba oriental was great as always. The location is awesome, i mean right in the middle of everything. The staff are always so nice, i got there really early to check in, my room wasnt ready but they did hold our luggage for us to come back that time and check in. The rooms were spacious which isnt easy to find in japan. Check out was quick and easy. I think this is going to be my always stay in japan, ive stayed at a few other hotels in the area including the swissotel at the namba station which was great and i would rate namba oriental up there with them but much cheaper.
Awesome hotel, our favourite in Osaka”
We loved this hotel, we would be back in a jiffy. The location is fantastic in terms of proximity to the Nankai Namba station (airport line) and also very close to Dotonbori. The hotel is amongst a busy area that is thronging on street level even late at night with restaurants conveniently open until late and street snack foods available. We chose a room on a higher floor so that we had no issue of street noise, and it was absolutely quiet and peaceful. The Hotel itself is gracefully appointed, with a slightly faded British colonial luxe, so you feel like you are staying somewhere a little nicer than your average hotel. We were already aware from reading previous reviews of the potential smoke smell that was in the initial lifts that take you from ground floor to the reception, so were unfazed by this. That is the only place that smells of smoke, and it's only because on the lower ground floor the lift opens up directly into a smoke-filled pachinko parlour. The securely segregated lifts that go from reception to the rooms do not have this issue at all. The rooms were spacious enough without being cramped, and were clean. The beds were super comfortable, probably the best night's sleep we had in Japan were here on account of this and the quiet. Reception were friendly and efficient. They spoke a little english so check-in wasn't a problem. In fact, I was amazed at the difference in how much more english was spoken in Osaka than my previous visit ten year ago. All in all, a fantastic hotel in a great location.
Excellent Location To Stay, Comfortable Family Rooms”
Namba Oriental Hotel is in an excellent location and well-connected to the train station. The family rooms are spacious and comfortable and all in all, it is a great choice of an accommodation. The only drawback is the expensive room rates given its popularity. I would recommend this for families with young children who have a substantial budget and are willing to spend more on accommodation in Osaka.
Great Location!”
I actually stayed twice at Namba Oriental Hotel during a three week span, with my family of four (two older kids 17 & 22). Our first stay was on the Oriental Quality floor in a family Suite. It came with 3 twin beds and a sofa bed and was very spacious with a beautiful bathroom with double sinks and separate toilet closet. On my second stay, we stayed in a Garden Delux Triple with sofa bed. This room came with a private garden area, but it is so hot in the summer that we did not use this area. The room was considerably smaller than the suite and with the sofa bed open, there is no common area. Bathroom considerably smaller, with everything in one room. In my opinion, if traveling with a family of four. I would upgrade to the family suite. This property is in the heart of Namba, with restaurants, Izakayas, Lawsons and McDonalds just outside the front door. Minutes walk to the Namba Station, Dontonbori and Kuromon Market Place, Don Q and Bic. Location, Location, Location!!!
Thank you for choosing Namba Oriental Hotel for your recent trip in Osaka. Also thank you for your good revie for Family Suite. We appreciate your valued review and sincerely look forward to welcoming you back again.
very near shinsaibashi shopping centre”
we arrived late in the evening, the staff was efficient and they processed our check in very quickly, since we were tired and i appreciate it. we had two rooms on the same floor next to each other as i requested. lawson and mcdonalds are just next to namba oriental hotel which makes it more convenient. Also shopping centre dotonbori and shinsaibashi. not to miss out the don quijote is also near. it is 24 hours since i shopped past midnight ,we will surely come back to this hotel next time.
Great location and comfortable beds”
If you are taking the subway, exit at B21 and you will find yourself at the beginning of a street with many large banners over the street. Look for one that says "Welcome to Namba Oriental Hotel" halfway down the street - the hotel's on the left. Other than the initial difficulty of finding the hotel (thanks to my daughter's sharp eyes that saw the banner), we found the hotel to be just minutes from Dotonburi and Ebi-shinsaibai. A 6-storey Daiso is just 5 min away and the OCAT is accessible via the underground passageway of the subway and train station. Lots of eating places (street food and restaurants) as well as shopping both below and above ground.
Thank you for choosing Namba Oriental Hotel for your recent trip in Osaka. We appreciate your valued review and sincerely look forward to welcoming you back again.
Oasis in the middle of busy Namba”
Really nice hotel in a very central location in Namba. Room was very stylishly decorated in brown, orange and cream. We had a double room with a king size bed. The room was a decent size for Japan. There was also a two seater couch, fridge, desk, coffee table and chairs, coffee and tea making facilities including a Nescafe Dolce Gusto coffee machine (200 yen per cup), extra storage unit, humidifier, and trouser press. Unfortunately no English stations working on the TV. Typical smallish bathroom with a short bathtub that you could sit in but not really lie down in. The hotel allowed us to check in three hours early after we arrived by train, very tired, from Nara. They didn’t charge us extra. There was really nothing to fault with the room or hotel. However a slight drawback was that there was far too much stuff in the room. We gathered up all the superfluous and put it in the wardrobe so that we had some place to spread out our own gear. To find the hotel from any of the Namba railway stations it is easiest if you go to Namba Walks (an underground shopping street) which is well signposted, and take Exit B21. Go UP the escalator and veer RIGHT at street level and walk a little way down the covered walking street. The hotel entrance is on the left hand side beside a Lawson store (like a 7 Eleven shop). The strong cigarette smoke smell from the lifts are a little off putting when you first arrive, but we didn’t smell it elsewhere in the hotel. (There is a panchinko and slot place in the basement.) The lobby is on the third floor. There is a very inviting garden with a fountain and amazing REAL sunflowers. Internal rooms have balconies that overlook this garden. Our room was at the back with a view over rooftops towards Namba Parks. It was very quiet. We had a late lunch one day in the Chinese restaurant of the same building (either first or second floor) when we were too tired from sightseeing and didn’t want to go out. Decent all you can eat buff
Great hotel with great service and location.”
I stay Namba Oriental hotel for 7 nights, my first impression was very convenient and hotel staff is very friendly and cheerful. Hotel room is so clean and reasonable big, i mean in Japan! I will stay back this hotel next time i back to Osaka for sure!
Good location, everything you need but wifi”
this was my second visit to japan and i'm now used to hotel receptions being on upper floors. in the case of the namba it's on the 3rd floor with loads of restaurants on the lower floors. the hotel is clean, quiet despite its busy and sometimes noisy surroundings and the staff are effecient and helpful. loads to see and eat within walking distance of the hotel and the various namba stations (subway, jr, airport line are easily walkable although not in the same place). rooms are spotlessly clean and bigger than normal (for japanese standard) on the 9th floor which is also the non-smoking floor. good base for osaka and surrounds to stay. from the airport take the nankai line direct to namba station (y900 for 45 minute ride, y1390 for 35 minute rapid service) and its a 5 minute walk to the hotel from the station. don't take a taxi as there is no vehicular access outside the hotel.
Nice Location”
we stayed here for the last day of our Japan trip, and it's quite a pleasant stay. I got a room on the 5th floor and my friends got on the 8th floor. when I asked for a higher floor the receptionist said there isn't any, which later I'm grateful for. the hotel doesn't have non-smoking rooms so some of the rooms are smelly. our room at the 5th floor smelled just fine, but my friends' at the 8th doesn't. the smokey feel is there, and the window couldn't be opened. the air purifier machine couldn't help either so they spent the night uncomfortably. I got discounted rate and found the room rate is cheaper than my friends' (thanks, Agoda!) the room itself is quite small. had to use the sofa and the table as our luggage storage so we can walk around in the room. the twin beds are also the smallest compared to other hotels in other cities we've been through, but once again it's also the cheapest so I wouldn't make a fuss about that - you get what you paid for. the surroundings are pachinko places so even at midnight the street in front of the hotel is still alive and there's a roof on top of it so even on rainy days it's still okay to stroll around the area. if you're hungry there's a McDonald's and convenience store just outside, but most of the others are pachinko or games store. if you want to go shop and eat, shinsaibashi is only a few steps away. it's also very close to Namba Station, which connected directly to Kansai International Airport via the Namba Nankai Station. would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Osaka.
family vacation in Osaka”
stayed in Namba Oriental Hotel from November 12 to 17, 2018 and my whole family (8 of us in the group) were happy with my recommendation of staying at this hotel...everything is literally walking distance around Namba Walk...from Takashimaya Department Store...to Kuromon Market... very convenient to find anything around this hotel...
Thank you for choosing Namba Oriental Hotel for your recent trip in Osaka. We appreciate your valued review and sincerely look forward to welcoming you back again.
