Hotel Monterey Grasmere Osaka

"location is excellent for shopping, dining, subway and train. there is direct airport limousine bus to osaka city air terminal (ocat) for those with heavy luggages. ocat to hotel is just a couple of minutes walk within ocat building to hotel, but easier to navigate to hotel is exit ocat building, turn right at the road, then turn right again at the road junction, and hotel is right there. reception is at 22nd floor. breakfast and meals are readily available at the jr namba station, nankai namba station, namba walk vicinity. for late night birds, there is convenience shop opposite ocat. for early risers, breakfast cafes are not open till about 10am, so we bought breakfast the prior night from the large supermarket next to ocat. there is no hotel self-service laundry, although a laundry shop is at the basement of ocat. it was wonderful to have free wifi in the convenience of the rooms. anyway we came prepared with a portable wifi access point in case it was needed if the hotel only provided lan access point. rooms were small as we realise most japanese hotel rooms are. for a family of 4 we needed 2 double rooms, and if not for a special promo price, this hotel will be too pricey for us at its regular price of about usd 200 per night. the double beds were a squeeze for a parent and an older teenage child, and if price were not any objection, a twin room will be better. we used namba station as the launch pad for our trips to nearby kyoto, nara, and kobe. train travel is so amazingly efficient in japan and we could get to any place that a tourist would want using the subway, and trains. there are different types of train passes that can be bought at the namba nankai station or the osaka jr station for those making multiple trips within a short time. we were impressed by the honesty of the ticket customer service who advised us frankly that it was not worth buying the passes if we do not make so many trips a day. "My stay here was excellent. Though the room was small, the cleanliness of the room itself and the bathroom was superb. Has a nice location in Namba. However, during our check in, the hotel receptionists took a long time in managing my booking. They didn’t explain to us the amenities in the hotel and our ticket for the breakfast buffet. But other than that, we had a nice stay in this hotel. Will definitely book this hotel again. "

Namba Oriental Hotel

"You can't find a hotel in Namba with a better location...with shopping and restaurants out your door and Namba Station only 5 minutes walk and mostly covered. The staff are very helpful and friendly, from the managers, clerks, housekeepers and restaurant workers. The breakfast is very good, although after staying there for one week, would be nice to have a little changes. Also would be good if they offered one english speaking tv station with news. We were there during typhoon Jebi and could not fully understand what was going on. But, all in all, we enjoyed it there and would certainly return there on our next trip to Osaka."

"Could not have asked for a better hotel right in the heart of Namba. Everything was a couple minutes away. Room was quiet and while it was small (which is expected for hotels in Namba), the location could not be beat. I will definitely consider these guys again on our next trip to Osaka. Staff were friendly and attentive with our requests and our room was clean and tidy. Free Wifi was excellent for us (so not sure why people were leaving negative reviews about it) and free bottled water everyday during our stay was a nice touch. Thank you Red Roof Plus Namba Hotel for our great experience."

"Gracery Hotel at Namba was just about 10 walk from Namba station. It staff were friendly and room cards were automated with the assistance from front desk staff. We have booked a 3 Super single beds for my family of 2A2C (11 & 8yo). The toilet is separated from the shower room w bathtub. Card accessed to your room. Free Coffee machine at lobby, there’s also ice machine, laundromat and vending machine for snacks although “Family Mart” is just opposite the hotel. Very pleasant and clean hotel. 👍"

Hiyori Hotel Osaka Namba Station
Namba,Namba - View on map
"Hiyori Osaka Namba is a great hotel in terms of location, service and especially cleanliness. It is located just beside Namba station which makes it just meters away from shopping sites like Takashimaya, Ebisu-bashi strip that leads to Shinsaibashi and Dotomburi. I learned it opened early this year, but I hope that they maintain the cleanliness in the coming years. I have never seen such generous bath amenities, good quality shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, handwash and soap in one, lotions, body milk, and other cleaning aides that I do not even know what for. To add to that, a quality hair dryer, curler and straightener! And at night, you get to use a very comfy and warm Japanese inspired sleepwear. Last but not the least, when you leave in the morning before you explore Osaka, there's coffee for you at the lobby. And when you return at night, you get to have free ice cream and sake, and refreshing fruit teas too all available at the lobby. We will definitely come back next year! "

More about Namba

Hotels in the area have Osaka’s many attractions on their doorsteps, including some of the city’s best eateries and most popular bars and clubs. In the east, there are dozens of upscale restaurants, boutiques and art galleries, where Osaka's young hipsters come to shop, eat, see and be seen. On Midosuji Street, there are two famous department stores, Daimaru and OPA. Walking south, visitors come to the Dotonbori-gawa canal and its famous nightlife district.

There are eateries on both sides of the waterway, but the south side, east of Midosuji, is the heart of the district and the home of Kuidaore, a local landmark restaurant serving both Japanese and Western food. A famous animatronic clown stands in front of the three-storey eatery. Another Osaka landmark, Kani Doraku is a crab restaurant with a giant mechanical crab on the front of the building that has become a symbol of the city.

The nearby Ebisubashi bridge is another prime photo opportunity for tourists, who pose to have their pictures taken in front of a neon-covered row of buildings. A new Ferris wheel adjoins the Don Quijote Dotonbori store, while the Shinsaibashi Shopping Arcade runs to the north and south from Ebisubashi and the Dotonbori-gawa canal.

South of Shinsaibashi, Namba is famous for its theaters and the fashionable boutiques and remarkable architecture of the Namba City and Namba Park shopping complexes. There are two kabuki theaters (Osaka Shochikuza Theater and Shin Kabukiza Theater) and traditional puppet plays are performed at the National Bunraku Theater. Namba Hatch, a popular concert venue, and Osaka City Air Terminal lie to the west of Namba Station.

Den Den Town is Osaka's electronics Mecca, with hundreds of shops selling everything from cameras to computers and anime DVDs. As the name implies, the nearby America Mura (American Village) sells imported goods from America and other western countries.
