The staff are very friendly”
I informed them in advance about my dislikes and they kindly made changes. They were very kind and suggested things like 'Is this fish okay?' and 'If you don't like wasabi, how about ginger?' It was really helpful and I was able to enjoy the delicious food without leaving anything behind. The check-in and check-out process was also great, as they had a welcoming atmosphere and asked 'Is there anything we can help you with?' I was very satisfied with this lovely hotel, where kindness overflowed, and was able to heal my daily fatigue. I would definitely like to use it again as a reward.

Located center of popular Nara area, so you can reach anywhere on foot with few minutes. Nara Koen, restaurant street, shopping street everywhere. And the atmosphere of the hotel was very traditional and somewhat you can feel you are like some royal family.

Very good”
Historic and atmospheric hotel. Popular with Japanese guests and tour groups. Very well-situated in between Kintetsu Station and Todai-ji. Not particularly service-oriented and restaurants are particularly overpriced. Still recommended for location and historical ambiance.

Big rooms with windows that open”
The Nara Hotel is a lovely old wooden building a short walk from Nara Park. It cost about 1000 Yen to get there by taxi from the JR station in Nara. The old wing of the hotel was built in 1905 and has plenty of character, although all the modern appliances, including a reliable internet connection, have been installed and appear to work well. The room is a good size for two people with twin beds and a small sitting area with a coffee table. The minibar is well stocked and room service was reasonably priced and quick to arrive.

A Grand Hotel in a beautiful historic city”
Nara Hotel is everything you would expect from one of the old heritage hotels on the oldest capital of Japan. This year, it celebrates its 110 year and it’s looking every bit as good as it did when it first opened! Think teal and mahogany fittings in a period style hotel with grand tea rooms and silver service restaurants. It’s situated just off the Nara parks which have all the sights within walking distance. The shuttle bus service to the two stations is a nice touch. The hotel shop sells its merchandise and they do have beautiful stuff. Book a room on the old building to get the best experience.

Lovely hotel, great staffs”
The hotel itself is full of amazing histories. It was fascinating to just look around and learn about its history. I want to specially point out that the staffs are amazing, super polite and accommodating. My husband and I were stepping out for dinner one night, it was drizzling a bit, didn't bother us that much, so we walked out without opening the umbrella in my backpack, 20 seconds later, the lady who greeted us at the front door chased us down the hill just to give us two umbrellas, while she was running in the rain herself. We felt so special staying at Nara hotel, and would recommend it to anyone who plan to visit Nara. We ourselves would definitely go back in the future. Fu-Ni

Exceptional”
The historic Nara Hotel is a beautifully-preserved, 100-year-old hotel that has been a favorite of Japanese royalty, American politicians (as well as World War II generals), and international celebrities. We loved our room in the main building: super-heigh ceilings, beautiful woodwork, comfortable beds, and, for a touch of long ago, antimacassers on the chairs. The bar, overlooking a pond, is exceptional, and you can almost see Einstein at the piano in the Tea Room, where he once played.

Unforgettable place.I thought it was a fairy tale”
the stay was very pleasant, relaxing, the japanese personnel of the hotel was very warm and welcoming, always ready to fulfill any request i had.the hotel is an outstanding old japanese house, refurbished in a fantastic way, easy to reach from every point of the small city of nara.the nature around the hotel is amazing, with deers free to roam also in the city centre.the food, for the standard of an italian, was high and beautifully presented.i want to mention also the the nara hotel is the favourite destination of the japanese imperial family, and it is easy to understand why.

Elegant and historical experience”
Good place to soak in the historical atmosphere. Location is also close to Nara park where the deers are. They also provide free entry to a private garden down the road. However, the prices for the rooms here and the food are expensive and cater to high end clients. The hotel aims to be a luxury place. Could try out other Ryokans in the Nara area for similar prices and they would provide more than a nice room.

A luxurious getaway hotel in the city of Nara”
We enjoyed our stay at the Nara Hotel immensely. It was by far our favorite hotel of our 8 stop trip through Japan. The rooms and service were great. The atmosphere and location in the park were restful. The gift shop was stocked with items our family was actually interested in. The history of the building was a unexpected bonus. The food at the hotel was very good by Japanese standards.

Wonderful experience at Nara Hotel. Highly recommend ”
I had one night stay and has a extremely delightful experience. The hotel has an elegant, classic style, a wonderful mix of easy and west. It well located for visiting Nara park, Todai-Ji, Kofuku-Ji, Kasaga-Trisha shrine, Isuien garden and Yushitien Gatden. But the real treasure is it’s staff: they are an army of magicians willing to go out of their way to help you! I forgot my camera charge at home, the lady in front desk alled all the electronics stores in order to find a replacement for me, once Located she placed it on hold, write me a note it and called a taxi to take me there. My glasses came apart during dinner, the waitress lady magically found a tool and fix the tiny screw such a disaster was avoided! The lady helping with my luggage did much more for me with bus, train and tour information. I’ve stayed in 5 stars hotels, this one standout as they made me feel like a royal, and that’s what a 5 star hotel is all about!

Special experience.”
From the second you arrive all the staff make your feel special. Yes it’s a special place with all the history and the building and rooms , we stayed in the old section, the high ceilings in the rooms and corridors certainly tell you a story as you walk them. Both restaurants serve beautiful food, and the staff certainly ensure you enjoy your experience. The bar area provides an exquisite experience should you take the time to enjoy a cocktail , or two. Again the staff were superb. We will definitely return to hotel Nara should we visit Japan again in the near future. Well done to all the staff we had the good fortune of meeting, and also to the many other staff behind the scenes, especially chef!s, our dinners on every evening were superb, one could dream of the experience of enjoying the French onion soup that both my wife and l enjoyed.

Classic hotel set in wonderful surroundings”
The Nara Hotel has a wonderful 'classic' feel about it. The staff worked hard to move us from a smoking room to non smoking room on our arrival immediately. The restaurant and bar area's provde a high standard of cuisine and beverages at reasonable prices for such a large and well run establishment. The bedrooms in the 'new building' are more spacious than the non smoking room we had in the 'old wing', but there is certainly plenty of space in the traditional rooms and also a newly refurbished bathroom. We were extremely pleased with our stay at the hotel and would recommend it to all!

An old dame, an experience for those who love antique hotels”
This Grande Dame of Nara is an old wooden building full of elegance and history. The hotel has access to an amazing garden which belonged centuries ago to a temple. Rooms have very tall roofs and have old furniture. The hotel has wonderful ball rooms to enjoy a drink and interesting paintings on the walls, some from famous Japanese artists such as Uemura Shoen. Service is very professional with the classic touch suitable for this hotel.
