“A grand old hotel in Nasu renowned for the quality of its natural onsen”

This is the second time we tried to book this place, and we’re very happy to be able to spend 2 nights at this time of year The hotel is located on the main road of passing downtown Nasu, about 30-40 minutes north of the high-speed railway station, Nasushiobara. We came by car, about 2.5 hour drive from Haneda Airport. If you arrive by Shinkansen, there are local buses that run along the road from the station to the hotel. It takes about 40-50 minutes, though This hotel has been around for a long time, so the room is a bit dated. The highlights that brought us here, though, are their famous onsen. There are 4 public baths, 2 outdoor ones and 2 indoors. The quality of the water here is what made it famous among onsen lovers. The outdoor baths are fantastic, surrounded by beautiful nature, trees, rocks and boulders. There are two rooms, one for male and the other for female patrons. Each room has one indoor bath and one outdoor one. The hotel swaps the two rooms daily, so if you stay 2 or more nights, you get to experience all 4 baths. It is worth mentioning that this is a traditional Japanese hotel, so a stay usually comes with a breakfast and a dinner. Both meals are excellent. They are not the best ones we have had in traditional Japanese hotels, but they are definitely up among very good ones Highly recommended

“The service from the employees, the meals, and the hot springs were all excellent!”

The open-air bath made me feel like I was in the woods, bringing peace to my heart. The meals were elegantly delicious, with a variety of appetizers, sashimi, fried dishes, grilled items, and main courses, and even though I was already satisfied, the rice was so good that I ended up having seconds and eating too much. The additional horse sashimi was the best!!! It’s said to be from Aizu, with rich red meat that has no unpleasant smell. It was worth the extra cost. Above all, the staff was amazing; this is what a great inn is like. They were attentive in subtle ways, making me happy and somehow relieving my fatigue. While not many may do it, I also recommend the massage, as the person was quite skilled.

“A visually impressive and relaxing experience ”

I was lucky enough to be able to rent a room with a private outdoor bath. Thr plan came with dinner and breakfast so the only thing for me to do was arriver, relax, and enjoy. I did exactly that in a room with many traditional elements that made me feel like I was in a luxurious one room traditional home, but with all the modern amenities. I only did one night, but now having been here i would suggest that 2 nights would have been better as it would have given me so many more hours to enjoy the bath. Thank you Sanraku for your hospitality!!

    “Half-open air bath”

The room had a bath, so I could take a bath whenever I wanted and relax. I didn't realize it was a room service when I made the reservation, but the staff was very polite, and the food was delicious. It was a very satisfying trip. Thank you for your hospitality.

“I was able to spend my time comfortably.”

The location is one of the northernmost areas of the Nasu Yumoto hot spring village, close to Mount Chausu. The rooms, as well as the hot springs and washing areas, are clean and well-maintained. Meals are served in private rooms where you can relax; both breakfast and dinner have a moderate portion size and are delicious. I would love to eat the blackthroat seaperch rice again. However, I was a bit disappointed regarding the fruit, as I was expecting seasonal peaches. The staff at the front desk and lounge, especially the person in charge of our table, were very pleasant, and I had engaging conversations about both the meals and sightseeing. The hot spring water is abundant and flowing directly from the source, which was a delightful experience. It was also great that towels were provided in the large bathing area. The layout of the chairs and tables in the lounge has a good amount of space. The ice coffee there was tasty, and it was nice to be able to enjoy it after the hot springs or meals. This ryokan is highly recommended for those who want a calm and relaxing stay.
