After spending some quality time with my son, who currently has been lodging at National Park Alpine for the past 5 months, i needed a room for myself, i had the double delux room perfect size, away from the dinning room, down the hall and shared bathrooms around the corner, definitely a place to stay and very reasonable too, the bathrooms are clean. Joy the owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely rate this place.
I wasn't good at English, but they kindly taught me how to ask questions. They also sell products, so it is convenient when I need something.
There are no complaints. Friendly staff, fluffy beds, clean showers, beautiful starry skies... it's the best lodge for Tongariro Alpine trekking. However, the beds might be a bit small for people over 180 cm tall.
Decent place to stay if you just wanted to spend the night for doing the Tongariro Crossing. Facilities were clean. Room a bit chilly. Staff was ok.

“Quaint and homely lodge ”
Very quaint and homely lodge. Shower and bathroom are clean. Although communal, it is a single shower and single bathroom (not cubicles) located at various points outside the rooms. Pro tip : bring along slippers for the walk to the shower/bathroom. Shampoo and soap not provided but can be purchased at their store. Towel can be rented for NZD$4. Communal kitchen is clean, well equipped and spacious. Living and dining area are comfortable and cozy. They also have a small restaurant now. Rooms are cozy. Naturally ventilated and there is electric heating. Bed is comfortable enough. Some rooms face the railway - you can hear the freight train pass through at night. Hosts are friendly and accommodating.👍👍
