Will be back again”
had a great time at dormy inn premium kyoto ekimae, so much so that if rooms had been available, we would have cancelled our stay at the next hotel and put up longer at dormy inn. we were very reluctant to leave after 5 wonderful nights. looked forward to the onsen every night after a long day of walking and travelling, followed by free ramen and tea for supper or vice versa. service was great though staff were not very fluent in english, they were attentive and extremely polite. little conveniences like microwave oven, washing machine and dryer made life much easier for those on longer trips. great location with convenience store just next to hotel and nearby to kyoto subway and bus stations.
Great stay at Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae”
Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae is very closed to the Kyoto station, about 2 mins walking distance. It's surrounded by a lot of restaurants. Pharmacy and Lawson are right down the hotel. Hot springs and sauna are clean and relaxing, the front office provides the skin sticker if you have the tattoo. Free washing service and the late food from the hotel. It's definitely a place I will come back to in the future.
Dormy Inn is the best!”
A wonderful stay at dormy inn! Stayed for 2 nights and cant bear to leave. The reception staff were very welcoming, helpful and polite. The hotel room although its small, it is cosy and still comfortable for two adults. Room is clean and had all the basic amenities you need. It is also located near Kyoto Station. The hot spring on the top floor is marvellous and well equipped!! It was a wonderful experience! On the top floor, you can find vending machines where you can purchase hot/cold, alcoholic/non-alcoholic drinks. An ice making machine with plastic cups is also available on a few levels within the hotel, so for those who needs ice can find it really convenient, there is also a microwave and washing machine. For those who are hungry at night, this hotel provides free flow ramen from 9pm-11pm at the hotel restaurant located at the lobby. Furthermore, there is a LAWSON 24hours located at the lobby where guest can use room cards to gain direct access from our hotel lobby. I would definitely come back to stay at this hotel or other Dormy Inn hotels as the concept and standards are pretty similar as i had stayed at Dormy Inn Umeda Higashi. Highly recommended!!!
A Great Place to Stay in Kyoto”
My wife and I were lucky to find a room at Dormy Inn in Kyoto just after the new year. The first few days before and after the new year are the busy days in Kyoto. Dormy Inn is just a few steps away from the Kyoto Station North exit. The cleanliness of the room and friendliness of the staff was excellent. By the way, the room where we stayed was roomy and comfy. My wife and I enjoyed the hot springs which were open from 3pm to 9am. A complimentary bowl of Ramen was available in the evening. The WIFI connected was also very good. The bus station and subway stop are also a few steps away. We recommend getting a day or two day bus and subway pass to see the Kyoto attractions. Having the pass would save you a lot of walking. There are a lot of good restaurants nearby (all kinds not just Japanese or Asian) - at the train station/mall area. We highly recommend Dormy Inn if you are going to visit Kyoto.
Best japanese hotel I have ever stayed in”
I was a bit unsure of what to expect since I booked tye hotel online using Agoda...but I am very impresses with both Agoda and Dormy Inn, from now on every time I come to Kyoto I'm staying here...the room I had was very nice and large...though I was by myself...if a couple were using the room they would have to be very comfy with each other. I used the rooftoop onsen, EVERY single evening, and usually kit was quite empty, I think at most there were 4 people there at the same time...and don't worry about the water being too hot, I was able to tolerate it just fine...I especially loved the part of the onsen that was open to the sky I even wrote a haiku about it 夕方になると 浮雲空に 温泉から天 The day is almost over floating clouds across dark skies roof onsen divine You can see I have fallen in love with the hotel...if possible ask for a room AWAY from the traffic side of hotel, to cut down on noise. I am also staying at Dormy Inn Shinsaibashi (which is where I am right now)...it is also good but not as nice as Kyoto...and I'll be going to Dormy Inn Akihabara next...if they had a frequent travellers club I would definitely join it. The free "singing ramen" in the evenings is fun to try once or twice but there is too much good food in teh city to do it every night...I think it is called "singing" becuase they call out you number when you are served...even if you are the only one in the room.
Great Location, Room is fully equipped & pleasant”
First time at Dormy Inn. Relatively easy to find as its by the road side and only 5 mins walk from Kyoto Station. Very clean and new hotel with polite reception. There is a smoking area and free wifi ONLY at the lobby. There is LAN connection at the room though. Lawson convenience stall is just beside the lobby lift. Room is small but fully equipped! Everything basic you need is available. (Toiletries, water, comfortable bedding, clean floors and bed sheets, Yukata and comfortable clothed bath slippers) there is even a charging cable (mini usb and iPhone charger) just at the bedside. There is clean and awesome Hot Spring bath at the 9th floor and complimentary hot noodles every night. Location of Dormy Inn is far beyond expectations and will definitely stay here again!
Location and Free Perks!!”
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay that the Dormy Inn. The hotel was located very close to Kyoto station which made arriving and sightseeing with a baby very doable! For Japanese standards, the room was a good size and very clean. The natural hot springs were an added bonus and the free ramen every night was a perfect way to end the evening. We would definitely return to this hotel especially with kids - the location is great, which made nap times manageable while trying to see the sights!
great value of money”
I had a 3d2n stay at Dormy Inn Premium Kyoto Ekimae for my trip in the Kansai area (where I had stayed at two other hotels, one in Osaka and one in Nara) and this is the best value-for-money one. The free ramen at night and free hotspring at top of the hotel are the best combination I can ever have after a long day of sightseeing and shopping.
Location is really good being less than 5 min. away from Kyoto station. They have cold and hot water available all day downstairs in the lobby and free ramen at night for guest. They are also connected to a Lawson's convenience store and there is a pharmacy (cheaper than Lawson's) right next door. The room was of decent size for 2 people since there is a foyer area when you walk into the room which separates the bathroom and the bedroom. I was debating between this place and a Solaria Hotel because that one looked nicer but I was super satisfied with Dormy Inn. Used the hot springs area for 2 nights and one night the water was so hot that some people mostly ended sitting outside of it just soaking their feet or only staying for less than 10 min. The 2nd night the water was much better and you could stay in it for a reasonable amount of time
Dormy Inns are great!”
We stayed at Dormy Inn in Fukuoka two years ago, and was happy that this hotel was available in Kyoto,. The location is just about 1 block from the Kyoto train station, so we were able to wheel our baggage to the hotel without too much trouble. The staff was excellent at check in, sending our bags by TaQBin to the next city, at breakfast and the evening ramen. Dormy Inns have a fabulous breakfast buffet! The hotel provides laundry detergent in the laundry room, so you just have to pay for the dryer, 100yen per 20 minutes. Dormy Inns have a furo (bath) and this one had a sauna as well. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The only problem was that we couldn't figure out how to work the thermostat to make the room cooler. I'll always look for a Dormy Inn whenever I travel to Japan!
Walking 2 mins to station, good facilities, microwave and hot spring”
My mum had an accident in Tokyo and still felt unwell when she was in Kyoto. Kyoto Dormy inn manager extended our check out time without surcharging. Very understandable and empathetic! Compared to the hotel in Tokyo sunroute, this one is much better and staff are more friendly! The sunroute hotel knew everything happened but without showing enough support, understanding and empathy. The duty manager was a bit crude...strongly recommend hot spring Dormy inn kyoto!
Ideal location with brand new amenities.”
We were very pleased with this hotel. Extremely new with a modern and trendy fit-out. Great amenities were available such as a hot spring and free noodles in the evening! The best part for us though was the 3 minute walk from Kyoto station. It was an excellent base to explore the area from. The room was well appointed if a little small. As 2 travellers with a suitcase each, we struggled to find space to put our luggage whilst still having somewhere to walk - the bed is just about walled in on 3 sides. That said, it was very comfy and we can't argue with the value for money. If you're out sightseeing during the day and just need a bed, and the convenience of the location, then I very much recommend Dormy Inn Kyoto.
A great introduction to Japan!”
It was our first time in Japan and we made dormy Inn Premium our first Japan Hotel stay. It was a good choice as it introduced us to various japanese cultures such as, reducing waste ( minimal room service), onsen culture (there's a shared rooftop onsen) and even food. ( soy-based ramen suppers). Its a short walk from Kyoto Train station and very near Kyoto tower. There's Lawson Convenient store just beside it so you can get snacks or other amenities if you need. The staff are friendly. Would defintely book any dormy inn for my next japan trip.
Great location and service”
This is my 2nd time staying in Dormy Inn Hotels in Japan. I read the review and checked the location before booking. The Dormy Inn Kyoto was very closer the Kyoto Station. All kinds of public transportation would take us to all tourist sights. The room of Dormy Inn Kyoto was bigger than most of the Dormy Inn in several Japanese cities. We particularly enjoyed the onsen and the free Raman by night. The breakfast was a great bargain too. I would recommend this hotel to the people who is looking for convenience and great facilities.
Excellent location with excellent service”
First of all, I definitely would not rate this as a 4-star hotel. However, as a 3-star (like most other hotel websites do), I can defintiely give a 5-star rating. I only stayed here for one night when I took a day trip to Kyoto from Tokyo. The room is small (which is fairly standard in Japan) but I felt that they have put a lot of thought into the layout. Not an inch of space is wasted and everything is within reach. Even the TV gives you a lot of useful information such as whether it's crowded at the natural hotspring on rooftop or whether the restaurant is open. The staff is helpful but the command of English defintely varies. Some of them don't speak English at all but they will happily direct you to someone who does. They were all very helpful with my day trip planning and gave me some very honest advice about my very time-aggressive itinerary (and yes they turned out to be right). For the price I paid I think it's excellent value for the money with all the amenities they provide such as the hot spring and the amazing breakfast spread. Its close proximity to the Kyoto station makes this an excellent jump off point for all the sightseeing needs for Kyoto. I'll definitely stay here again next time I go to Kyoto.
Perfect - best one!”
Location: For those who hesitate on which area to stay, kyoto station is actually good - very convenient and can travel to around via bus or walking easily. Kyoto is not that big. Staff and room: I tried 4 hotels during my visit to japan and dormy inn is by all means the best. Very clean room. Super friendly staff. Free ramen and the breakfast are very tasty. Hot spring: yes, do give it a try! There's a Lawson downstairs which makes everything even better.
Great location! Love the noodles ”
The hotel is really near to the main train station and easy to find. Walking around was easy and a joy to do. Traveling around Kyoto from here was really easy to do as well. Staff spoke good English so communication was no problem. Loved the hot noodles the hotel served free each night. Especially the first night - we had travelled all the way from Sapporo to Kyoto via train and there was really no better comfort than a pipping hot bowl of noodles. The rooftop onsen was a very nice touch. There is an indoor and outdoor bath, and everything was clean and pleasant. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. If I go back to Kyoto again, I'd definitely stay at Dormy Inn again.
This hotel was a great surprise of my Kyoto trip. It has natural hot spring and locates at very good location. The staffs were friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean. I'll definitely come back again and also plan to try other Dormy Inn hotels.
Dormy Inn is very conveniently located about a 5-minute walk from Kyoto train and bus station. Hotel service staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean. Additional benefits were the hot-spring and free ramen at night. Breakfast was excellent with lots of selection and was delicious. Will definitely stay here when I visit Kyoto again.
Very comfortable stay”
I've slept very well at Dormy Inn. I've been there with my mom who is an aged person asking for comfort, the design of our little twin bed room was perfect for all our needs. The room is clean and equipped with all facilities but the safe box. The hotel serves free good soups in the evening restaurant and the public onsen bath on the roof top offers a very relaxing experience. Dormy Inn staff is english spoken, very professional and friendly. The hotel is located right next to Kyoto train station and it is a great starting point for any tour in or outside Kyoto.
