Although this hotel is not mind blowingly exceptional, it is still definitely one of the more decent 3star hotels i have been to. One of its great plus points is the proximity to Kyoto main station which is about 3mins walk from the hotel and there is a convenience store located just beside the hotel. The room itself is quite clean although they do only provide change of towels and no cleaning service. Cleaning service needs to be requested and comes at a cost but i think thts fair enough and wouldnt be much of an issue if you are just planning to stay there for a few nights. Another good thing is they do have an onsen on the top floor which is great for travellers who are seeking to just soak into a hot bath after a long days out travelling. Interestingly, they also provide free icecream, ramen and certain drinks from certain timings during your stay and the ramen is quite delicious!
I stayed at Dormy Inn for the first time. The deciding factors were its proximity to the station, the presence of a large public bath, and the positive reviews. Once I actually stayed there, it exceeded my expectations. The room wasn't spacious, but it was functional and comfortable. Moreover, the large public bath was a hot spring! Perhaps due to the timing, I ended up having the bath to myself. It helped relieve my tiredness from walking. After enjoying a free ice pop after my bath, I spent a blissful time reading comics from the bookshelf. There was a Lawson convenience store next door, making it easy to buy breakfast and other necessities. I thought I would like to stay here again on my next trip to Kyoto.
At first, I wondered where it was, but once I found it, the location is really great. It's right next to Kyoto Tower and uniquely connected to a convenience store. It's directly in front of the station, making it very convenient for tours or dining out, and it's close to places like Kaldi and Don Quijote, which is wonderful. All the staff were friendly, and it was nice that they greeted me when our eyes met. The large public bath and free ice cream, yogurt, and ramen were all fantastic. The bus stop is also nearby, making it easy to travel by bus. I think both Dormy Inn and Onyado are great for families to come.
Great hotel. The location, right next to the Kyoto station and 20 minutes walk from Gion is perfect. The bus stops right in front of the lobby. The staff spoke very little English to the extend of needing three workers plus Google translate to extend my reservation one more night. Room was great size for Japan. Very comfortable. Could be cleaner under the bed. Free washer, free ice cream, Onsen, free noddle soup. Great hotel!

“Very convenient to travel.”
This time we stayed here for 3 nights, not far from Kyoto station, very easy to travel. There is a convenience store next to the hotel. The hotel has designated a smoking room on the lobby floor, which is great for smokers, but the smoking room is small with poor ventilation. If 2-3 people use it at the same time, it can be bad. The booked room is spacious, with 2 bottles of drinking water on the day of check-in. For the remaining days, we can refill drinking water on the first floor and in the onsen. There is tea and coffee provided on the first day, but for the other days, we have to request it at the lobby every day since there is no cleaning service for the room; however, they hang towels and face cloths in bags for us every day (but they don't include tea and coffee in the bags). Every Doormy Inn I've stayed at has an onsen and sauna for free use, which is very nice. There are cleansing oil, moisturiser lotion, shampoo, conditioner, face wash, hand soap, and body wash provided. After the onsen at night, there is free unlimited ice cream available, and in the morning, free drinkable yogurt. From 21:30 to 23:00, there is free shoyu ramen with seaweed and bamboo shoots, and you can have as many bowls as you want. After a tiring and cold day of sightseeing, having free ramen is very filling and easy on the wallet. However, this branch lacks compared to others because from 15:00 to 23:00 there is no free tea and coffee service in the dining area. There is free laundry service; the washing machines come with detergent and fabric softener automatically, but the drying costs only 100 yen for 20 minutes. Free ice is available, and there is a microwave for use. I once had breakfast at the Numba branch, which was very good and worth 2,200 yen. You can borrow several types of adaptors for charging various devices, and some places even have Type-C adaptors available, which is lovely. I suggest that the hotel set up a shoe washing area with drying facilities, and I would gladly pay extra in coins. After walking for days, washing just socks is not enough; I want to wash my shoes so they don't smell when getting on the plane back. Another suggestion is that if the hotel does not provide free tea and coffee from 15:00 to 23:00 like other branches, they should arrange tea and coffee packets in every room when staff hang new towels every morning, so guests don't have to ask at the front every day. Experiences from staying at Doormy Inn Numba, Ueno, and Kyoto (3 branches): Among the hotels, I like Numba the most because the breakfast and dinner areas, onsen, smoking room, and laundry are all on the same floor, making it very convenient. In the evening, you can see families coming back tired from sightseeing gathering together to buy food, snacks, or drinks to enjoy while waiting to eat ramen, sitting comfortably watching people come and go in the city. In summary, we and our family really liked staying at Doormy Inn hotels. If we have the chance to stay at other branches, we will come back to review it.
