good choice”
I liked my stay at Super Hotel Shijyo Kawaramachi Kyoto. It is conveniently located near the intersection of Kawaramachi dori and Shijo dori (with several bus lines). It is a quick walk to the Hankyu Kawaramachi station, Takashimaya Department Store, and various other shops, restaurants, etc. It is also close to tourist spots such as Pontocho, Gion district, and Nishiki Market. The room and bathroom were clean and breakfast is included in the price. There is also a hot spring on the premises as well as free internet and free short international phone calls.

Excellent location, quiet hotel”
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in April 2017 for the cherry blossom season. This was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our 22-day trip in Japan. This was one of the more expensive hotels that we booked. The best thing about this hotel is the location. The hotel was very conveniently located on a quiet, inner street within walking distance to Kawaramachi station, Gion station, the geisha districts, Nishiki Market, restaurants, shops, and Maruyama Park with beautiful views of the river, mountains and buildings while walking to/from Gion. It was easy to remember how to get to the hotel. Also important, it was quiet inside the hotel (no noisy guests). The room we had was probably the largest hotel room we stayed at in Japan (it had space for a long sofa). The bathroom was small like at the other hotels we stayed at. The breakfast had a good variety of choices (very fresh pastries). Complimentary powder green tea was provided in the room, along with kettle and fridge like with other hotels. An onsen is included but we didn't use it. We were able to store our luggage at the hotel before check in and after check out. I wanted to book this hotel for an extra 2 nights when I made a last-minute change to our itinerary a week before we left for Japan (about 3 weeks from the booking dates), but the hotel was full. We ended up booking another hotel about a 10-minute walk from this hotel near Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae station and that hotel was next to a busy street, had noisy guests and did not include breakfast at a slightly higher price. I would choose this hotel again if staying in Kyoto.

Great Location and Good Quality Bread during Breakfast Buffet”
The room is bigger than other similar hotels in Japan with Big Screen TV. However, the bathroom is not that spacious enough but it is acceptable, since I used the hot spring room for taking a bath. The hot spring room is only one so there is schedule for men and women. Location is near Kawaramachi and Gion. It is just few bus stops away from Kyoto Station. Last but not the least, the bread (I think it is the hotel who bake the bread) is very delicious and good quality. I would love to stay in this hotel in my future visit in Kyoto.

Great hotel, great service”
I would definitely stay in this hotel again if I return to Kyoto. Great buffet breakfast and hot spring bath service. Women guests receive a complimentary gift with facial masks and creams for a beauty treatment. The hotel also provided ropes and special pillows in addition to what was available in the room. The hotel is centrally located in a shopping area, though it is difficult to find for those who are not familiar with Japanese addresses. Once you find it, it is so convenient... just a few meters from the subway station and close to the bus stops that go to the Imperial Palace and other major attractions. The hotel only offers breakfast service and there are several vending machines with coffee, beers, and other soft drinks. Be aware that the room is very small by Western standards, but also comfortable. Internet connection was good. The hot spring bath is something you must try, you won't regret it. The staff was specially friendly and helpful. The only minus is that they will keep your luggage in store only the day you are cheking out, that is, you cannot leave it in storage for a day or two.

'Poland-o' review”
Apart from hot springs in hotel Spa that are available for every hotel guest, there are a few things you cannot find in any other hotel. If you are a foreigner looking for something extra in Japan the Super Hotel Kawaramashi is a must-stay place for you. The guests are mainly Asian, Japanese mostly, which gives you an incredible opportunity to learn a lot more about Japan than in hotels with only western tourists. The service is very helpful and friendly, the guest are open to other cultures and they are always ready to give you some extra information about Japanese people and culture, and they can even teach you some Japanese (if you are willing to learn a bit). I made friends with some of them. The menu for breakfast was good and varied every second day. Everything was fresh and available for guests. Croissants and bread rolls were always freshly baked. Delicious! Interenet access and telepthone service were also excellent. I'm very pleased with the hotel service and people staying there. There are only two things I was missing: safety boxes in hotel rooms were unavailable even if you really wanted to rent them temporarily; however there was a possibility to leave your valuables at the front desk- if you don't mind going down to the reception few times a day. The second was the unability of staff to speak English at least on elementary level-only 3 receptionists out of 10 spoke communicative language.Guests spoke better English than the service. All in all, I recommend the Super Kawaramashi Hotel to everyone who seeks some extras, not only typical western service and excellent English.

Exceptional”
This was our second time in this hotel, and I still think the location is the best you can get in Kyoto: Nishiki Market, shopping arcade, restaurants, Pontochō and Gion areas, all within walking distance. At the next corner there is Kawaramachi station if you want travel for example to Osaka, Kobe or Arashiyama. The hotel is fairly big, so breakfast room may be congested at times. However, breakfast is excellent; including Japanese style breakfast, but also freshly baked bread, croisant etc, jougurt and a wide variety of drinks. In fact, the breakfast is litlle bit different every morning. The rooms are small like everywhere in Japan. This hotel also have hot water onsen. Be brave and try it. After a long day the bath relaxes and you sleeps better. By the way, there are different kinds of pillows, where you can choose the best for youself. This hotel don't have room key at all. You get your own pin code, and you just have to remember that:) Enjoy.

Great location and good quality”
i highly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, good staff performance as well as the convenient location. as a traveller, i just need a place to have a good shower/bath, a good sleep and healthy breakfast to start the day. i think super hotel shijo satisfies all above. even though the bathroom is very small but the onsen (hot spring) makes up that. i quite enjoy the stay there and will choose this hotel again next time when visiting japan.

Comfortable Room in a Great Location”
The hotel is approxmiately a 5 minute walk from the Kawaramachi station or if you don't mind a longer stroll and save a few hundred yen then it is about a 15 minute walk from Shijo station. It is very close to Gion and other popular streets such as Ponto-cho. The hotel is very accessiable to various temples and shrines as there are many bus stops a few meters away. As for the hotel itself, the atomosphere was very pleasant. The room was relatively larger then most of the other places we had stayed during our trip. It was very clean and all the necessary amenities were provided. There is also a bath house in the hotel but we did not go. From what we saw it was quite popular amongst the guest. The buffet breakfast consistent a large selection of pastries followed with soup, salad, yogurt, cereal, and your selection of free drinks from the vending machine until 8:30am. Overall our stay was enjoyable, the staff was very friendly and spoke very good English. I would stay there again if the opportunity arises.

Unique hotel with great shopping location in Kyoto”
absolutely great location hotel with easy access via subway or bus. from hankyu line's kawaramachi station just walk along the shijo avenue shopping street until you see "kfc" and "925 silver shop" then turn right hotel is just on your left its a modern building. hotel is modern design with an extra couch, definately consider a big room in japan standard. love the onsen / spa inside the hotel. the healthy breakfast is good too with their freshly baked breads. located in the shopping market (nishiki market) with great foods and fresh sea foods. access to sight seeing information can be easily gathered from the hotel. one day pass "kyoto buses" can be access nearby hotel about 1-2 min walk to main shijo streets. definately worth the money hotel.

Fantastic japanese hotel , onsen a bonus”
This is a true japanese city hotel. That means it is efficient and the rooms are small. However it is japan so I would not discount it at all. Staff lovely, onsen was great ( separate times for men and women), free internet and breakfast. Right near kawaramachi station and big department stores , takashiyama and daimaru. If you don't want to pay to get off at hankyu kawaramachi station ( separate line from the subway from Kyoto), you can still get off at shoji station and walk. I travelled with two other people and we loved it. Guests mostly japanese travellers. Tip , check in early to grab a comfy pillow. Pillow in rooms are hard as rocks !!

Good Location and Service”
the location is pretty good for dining, shopping and traveling in kyoto. we took only 2 mins from the hotel to the kawaramachi station of hankyu line. moreover, i recommend the free hot spring service in the lobby floor if your schedule can meet the open time.

Great hotel for travellers”
Was about a 5-10 minute walk from the nearest train station (Kawaramachi - off the Tozai Line). Very helpful English-speaking staff greeted us and got us up to speed on all the info we'd need. We were happy and surprised to see that the Super Hotel was right next to Teramachi street (a shopping and dining arcade) and the busy Shijo Ave. Also of note, Gion is well within walking distance! My wife and I took a bus to the Gion district to try to spot some geisha.

Super Hotel Shijyo Kawaramachi”
My 2nd stay here, and my expectations exceeded. Sound proofed rooms allow you to drift away from the crazyness found downstairs with all the shopping Shijo Kawaramachi has to offer! A moments walk from Food, Clothes, Souveniers. I couldn't recomend staying here enough. Minutes walk to Gion, a location that never stops moving. This will be in my top 5 places to stay when I return to Japan.

Hotel which lived up to its name, Super!”
We arrived a few hours before official check in (3pm) but were able to drop off our bags. The staff were super friendly and helpful at all times. We booked a double room, room only rate, however breakfast was still included! The room: Super clean and compact! Looked just like the pictures. There was a sofa with an extra set of bedding, but I feel three people in the room would struggle for space, especially with suitcases, we just had backpacks. There were four hangers for clothes but no drawers. The black out blind was great. No view due to the frosted window. Slippers, kettle, hairdryer, fridge and various charge adaptors provided. Also a massive tv, which we didn’t use so don’t know what channels it provided. Internet was super fast. The pillows provided were filled with small marble type balls which were not so comfy, but you could choose from a variety of memory foam pillows at reception. I get the impression most bathrooms in Japanese city accommodations are compact, but I was surprised at how just how compact it was! It’s basically a little bathroom pod unit fitted into the room, it’s tiny! If you are over 6ft tall or of larger build you may struggle. You couldn’t swing your arm let alone a cat!! Having said that it was super clean and the shower had great water pressure and hot water. The toilet, heated Japanese bidet style, was a little noisy as it automatically prepares for use each time you use it, but you can turn it off should you find it annoying. Organic shower gel, shampoo and conditioner were provided, and they smelt lovely. The breakfast: Super, it’s free! We stayed four nights and breakfast was different every day. There were fresh bread rolls, mini pastries, mini hot dog sausages and some version of eggs. There was also Asian style breakfast, veggies, meat, fish and rice. Tinned fruit and yogurt. Coffee, tea and soft drinks machines. Served 7am - 9am. Location: Super! Walking distance to lots of sights, subway, shopping and there are f

You can access to famous restaurant like Ichiran Ramen, Ajinoya Okonomiyaki, Tomy Sushi and many more within 50m. The facilities is great with in house coin laundry service, hot spring and a few type of pillow fo yo to choose. The traditional japanese breakfast is delicious. And last, the Kawaramachi Transport hub is around the corner.

Great location, clean room!”
We loved our stay at the Super Hotel! Location was extremely central, with tons of great vintage shops in the same building, a great bar (Sour) right across the street, 2 minute walk to busses and subways. The staff was very kind, check-in and check-out was super easy. The room was clean with all the ammenities we needed. The bathroom was a bit small, but that seemed to be standard in this price range in Japan. Having breakfast included was a nice plus, though the food wasn't the best. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Kyoto!

Good value”
Excellent value for the middle of Kyoto. Spotlessly clean, but you had to be out of your room between 10am and 3pm if your room was being cleaned, but you could put your towels outside the door and they would leave you to tidy up. Room snug, but had double bed, TV, facilities for tea making. Tiny bathroom - only room for one at a time. Free breakfast from 7-9am. Very convenient to Shijo Street and shops, station and buses. Not the hotel for you if you spend long periods of time in your room, but I would highly recommend for tourists etc who really just want a place to sleep.
