Bad hotel. ”
It’s better than staying at a hostel, but for the price it’s just bad and run down. The room was okay, but I could hear people outside all night. Paper thin walls. Not very clean. They charge for everything too. The waters in the room were $5. Also, the on-site restaurant was disgusting and service was bad. Overall, bad experience.
You only get what you pay for ie budget hotel”
The location was excellent, Restaurant was good and staff helpful and friendly. Rooms big and spacious but very out dated,. It rained on 1st night and Alice hadn't had rain for a long time , and water was dripping down from bathroom roof and making a puddle on floor. I then was booked in later in the week and my new rooms TV remote was faulty. I know I'm sounding picky but after 5 days in dessert I just wanted to chill out in bed and watch TV with out having to get up and manually work the TV. I was allowed to changed rooms and this room had a strange smell. I didn't want to make a scene so I grinned and beared it. Was woken at 3am to fire alarm going off , and we had to evacuate hotel, as someone was smoking in stairwell. But Fire Brigade were there pretty quick, sorted it out. :) Gill from Perth
There were two positive things about this hotel”
The first one the location and secondly the food. Further my group wasn’t happy at all with their stay mostly because of maintenance of the rooms. So they need to do a renovasion ASAP. The assistence of the staff was quit ok. Thanks for that.
Great service, lovely personable receptionists.”
as usual the receptionists were very accommodating. we were in a big party of people and they bent over backwards to get us into the rooms. there is a lot of dust out in the desert and one is very keen to have a good shower and clean-up after a sojourn out in the hot, windy, dry, dusty climate. always a lot of hot water available. night staff also very accommodating and will get extra milk, coffee etc if one runs out. i have stayed in the aurora many times and will highly recommend it to travelers.
Lovely underground hotel. Very unusual”
I have never seen a hotel like this. All the rooms are underground inside of an old Opal mine. Family run hotel, the owners take care of all the details. Breakfast is very basic. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and willing to give you indications about places to visit.
Great (central to Alice), attentive service desk”
4th stay at the Aurora. Recommend this hotel for good hot water, big rooms, able to organize trips, good storage for swags etc. Internet was available but it should have been free for the price of the hotel.
Staff are very unkind and not good. ”
Every day no cleaning my room unless rang up them and chasing them and cleaning my room.
The hotel adjoins a famous local restaurant, which is also next to the Todd Mall that has everything you need. The room itself was clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable too. Overall Aurora is a good place to unwind after visiting the Red Center.
Stay on way to Arulu”
The hotel was great. convenient location with a back entrance onto the mall, making it easy access to most things. The rooms were clean with plenty of towels etc, the pool and spa were great. Was easily accessible and had a bay to park the hire car
after our outback trip it was quit relaxing to stay in Aurora Hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel can be accessed easily by foot since it is in the city center. The airport shuttle is in front of the hotel entrance. Breakfast was not the cheapest, but worth it.
Great location for walking around Alice Springs”
This town centre hotel has a good location, smart entrance lobby, and even a small courtyard swimming pool. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was a good size and with all the expected features but it was badly let down by some rather old fittings, clean but stained linen (towels and sheets all a bit elderly, off white and with some marks) and a poor location backing on to a service area where staff chatted loudly and clanked cleaning trolleys around cleaarly oblivious to the fact they were in full earshot of guests! The hotel has a popular restaurant next door, but I ate at one of several nearby local restaurants in the main precinct which also has the towns main banks, tourist info centre and shops.
spacious room with comfortable bed.”
My stay was short and whorth value for my money. The food good and time for preparation within reasonable time. Room clean but the bathroom not satisfactorily clean and some towels appeared dirty. Water in the fridge and the juck not clean. African should be reflected on native languages.
Great place to be”
Great place to be, clean, great room, pool, nice service, great restaurant, we used this hotel only for three days to see Alice Springs and we were very happy. If you like to be the whole day on the pool than is this hotel maybe not the right one, but if you like after one day discovering Alice Springs to jump into the cool pool and spa then it is perfect.
Good location, attentive service ”
If you want a clean and well-maintained hotel right by Todd Mall, Aurora Springs should be a consideration. The hotel allows late check-in (past midnight) for folks coming back from Ayers Rock and/or Kings Cayon tours. The Red Ochre Restaurant is also attached to the hotel as a bonus. Additionally, the first hospital built in Northern Territory is across the Red Ochre Restaurant and is worth the donation to give you a bit of NT medical care history. Warning: the lift does not go directly to the rooms in the 2000s so you may have to carry your luggage up about 12 steps after taking the elevator to the 1st floor.
Generally good service”
room was not as good as depicted in the photos. appeared to be fairly old and dark. bed was slightly uneven, but doesn't affect sleep. bathroom was clean and well managed. breakfast provided limited choices, but they were deliciously cooked. friendly receptionist sincerely advised us not to walk around the streets at night. and her advice was proven to be valid. it was unsafe to walk around the town at night.
Good location and staff were very helpful”
the aurora was recommended to me by a friend. enjoyed my stay. the room was clean. it was relaxing and easy to walk to everything. the staff were very helpful and directed me to where i wanted to go. i will come back again.
Clean Rooms and a Very Helpful Staff”
The Aurora staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. When we had a problem with one of our tour reservations, the people on duty helped us call the proper parties and then suggested great alternatives for our day. The rooms were clean though not spacious and everything was serviceable. The restaurant on the back of the hotel served excellent food and wound up being fairly competitive in terms of price.
Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean ”
we were there for 3 days for our son's wedding,so we also had lots of family and friends there as well.we had no problems at all.location is great( in a town that is not tourist friendly after dark).all in all if we ever came back mto alice springs i would have no hesitation in staying at the aurora.thanks
Aurora Hotel Alice Springs ”
We used this hotel as a one night stay having travelled from Uluru and flying out of Alice Springs so we did not really have time to find out about the facilities on offer. The restaurant offered good food reasonably priced and the staff were very friendly. The hotel was in a good location for some of the shopping areas and there were a few bars around the area. The reception organised our transfer to the airport but we were not made aware of the cost of it until the mini bus arrived and had finished collecting passengers from other hotels and as we had already experienced complimentary transfers from other resorts we were a bit disappointed not to be informed beforehand of the charges.
I was travelling with one of my grandchildren. Enjoyed our stay in AS. Its downside was the drunken locals that lazed about in the open areas. Because of this we felt somewhat unsafe in these areas, and certainly having talked to the locals would not venture out at night.
