Meet the purpose ”
We wanted a family unit with kitchen, so yup we got it. Just that the facilities are a bit out of 70-80s feel. Clean though. We had a funny mystery while staying there the tv was blaring in the middle of the night, and all of us swore we did not switch it on or left it open before we went to bed! At least we were staying in a group ;)
Worth the Money.”
Facilities in good condition. Free wifi. Staffs are friendly. The only drawback: Power out for more than 3 hours at night resulting in convenience of using washrooms, no heaters, and both phone and wifi out of function. A bit stuffy in room. Otherwise all good.
Value for money”
Stayed here for 2-nights during our recent self-drive NZ South Island family vacation. The rooms were clean and comfy... and it comes with kitchen facilities which we made good use of them. The location of the Motel is also very good...overall, we were very satisfied with our stay at the Motel.
Clean and comfortable motel”
it was cold in christchurch, after a long day, we went back to hotel at around 8pm and eager for a hot shower but found out no hot water. wait for another hour but still not a trace of hot water coming. call the reception and then was told no one will come at this hour of evening to fix the hot water system, the whole motel no no water. so we have to boiled water using the kettle to wash our face, hands and feet. the next morning still no hot water.
Lovely Motel with big room and friendly staff.”
I was unable to check in before 2pm and when the manager noticed that I am on my own and change my room to a large bed instead of the twin bedded room without my request. There is tea making facilities and microwave oven and dishes ect. in the room and alarm clock in the room which a lot of hotel lack. The manager is very friendly and helpful with all information.I will stay there again if i am going to kakioura next time.
Though initially our taxi driver brought us to Bealey Hotel but nevertheless this motel was surprisingly unbeatable in price and services... Free wifi service is a plus factor eventhough it was limited per room... Accessible to everything!
Nice little motel close to downtown”
rooms were nice and clean and even had a tiny little garden with a table and chairs. internet wifi is free of charge. you can walk to centre of christchurch in 10 minutes. there are no dining facilities in a walking distance though. front desk is not open all night so if you are late call them up ahead.
Very Convenient and Well Located Motel”
After the quakes, most of the business hotels went out of business and I had to look for alternatives. Ended up in Bealey Avenue Motel and was more than pleased with the room, service and location! In a city as Christchurch, you love to stay at a ground floor ;-) There are many Motels in that area, but Bealey Ave looks as omen of the better ones!
lovely hotel, very clean & modern, great location”
our room was very clean and modernly furnished. the kitchen and bathroom were well-equipped with modern facilities. the staff are very helpful and friendly. will definitely recommend this motel and also go back there again.
Comfortable and clean”
We stayed in a few motels in Christchurch but this one was the best of the three. It has to be one of the newer motels in that area. We found the room to be well appointed with a kitchenette in the room as well as a small dining room table. All in all it is great value for money.
A more than adequate stay”
the room was comfortable, albeit a tad small, but with good working facilities. although there was a big sky channels sign at the entrance, compared to some other motels that i hv stayed in nz, the range of channels were really limited. there was a live rugby match on that nite (rwc) but could not find a channel that was showing it. all the other motels i stayed in had at least 1 channel showing rwc 2011 matches live. the full kitchenette was really useful since we ate in often. tips: #1 - if u have heavy luggage, perhaps u can request in advance to be put in a ground level room, rather than the 2nd level. #2 - remember to bring a universal adaptor or a aust/nz adaptor (where the pins curve at a 45 degrees angle). if not, u won't be able to re-charge yr electronic items. #3 - try to get your groceries at the supermarkets like countdown, 4 square, fresh choice, etc, as the dairies (little corner provision shops) tend to be more expensive. lastly, a slight mishap during our stay. my wife was charging her ipod at the electrical outlet near the main door and unfortunately there was a power trip which caused the circuit breaker to shut off power. the trip happened when i switched off the lights at the light switch above the bed. somehow or another, this caused the trip and my ipod charger was blown with a 'pop' sound with burnt marks on the charger. but even worse, my wife's ipod was fried and was un-usable after that. so i hope the owners will look into room 5 and make sure that this incident does not happen again.
Comfortable and affordable Motel.”
Could not find any major faults. It was a fuss-free and pleasant stay. There are some food carts (operating out of a campervan type vehicle) nearby (Thai, Japanese) selling relatively affordable food (NZ$9-15). It is along the same stretch of road as the motel, about a 8 and 15min walk away respectively. Other than that is's quite a walk to say, the Botanical Gardens, Canterbury Museum, etc. Sad to say central CHCH is still very quiet. Hope the rebuilding is successful to bring vibrance back to the city.
very good location, just about 15 minutes drive from airport. it is on main road, and lots of similar motels around. easy access to city centre, but not much food to buy around. have to walk at least 10 minutes to get food. no restaurant, but with whole set of kichen-wares. bathroom is small but nice and clean.
Great rooms very convenient and clean”
rooms are big enough, we had many thing, oven, gas cooker, etc, rooms are very convenient, very clean, too; hotel staff very friendly, but bus stop is a little bit far, walking around 15 minutes, this hotel also near the city center,
Great Location, clean room and value for money”
Have no issues at all. Room, kitchenette and bathroom were sparkling clean. Good neighbourhood, little traffic noise after windows are closed. Wireless internet is quite fast. Nice friendly motel operators, would certainly stay there again on next visit.
Valuable place to stay in Christchurch”
We were looking for some motel that we can stay in CC before we left in early morning flight. This motel really good there are a big room to stay 3 persons. There is bath tub with jacuzzi and spa function really impressive from such a long time trip. Equipment in the room really appreciated. If you looking for just value place to stay I really recommend this place.
One night enough”
Reached CHH late in the night and checked out in the morning, but even in this short stay the staff was pretty rude and unaccomodating to any of our requests..almost as if they didnt people to stay. Clean rooms and facilities but bad staff attitude especially since this was out first interaction with people here after reaching NZ. Other hotels and people we stayed with were really good though.
Decent hotel, but not very nice owners”
The facilities are nice, but there is not much around this place. The owners were very grumpy. They were not very helpful, but they did let us leave our bags for the day while we toured around. You should have a car if you are staying here as there is nothing in decent walking distance.
Good value for money”
The motel was clean, and comfortable - and had a coffee percolator (not all do) and good size mugs, the things that matter. Location was good, although Christchurch is still struggling for eating venues, since the quakes. Very good pop-up Thai restaurant within 5 minutes walk.
Clean room. Friendly staff.”
This was the first time we stayed at this motel. The room we booked was the spa kinda type and suitable for family. Grandma likes the little kitchen inside. The room overall was tidy and provided with electronic appliances.
