Causeway Bay actually was a bay until the land was reclaimed last century. Now it’s a favorite place for locals to go shopping. Visitors appreciate the selection of shops, with some travelers booking accommodation in Causeway Bay with the sole purpose of shopping.
Causeway Bay is east of Wanchai on Hong Kong Island. The main way in is through Causeway Bay MTR station, which provides transport all the way back to the mainland. It’s also possible to arrive via Star Ferry through the pier at Wanchai.
As shopping is the major pastime in Causeway Bay, there’s no greater attraction than Times Square, a 16-floor mall with a seemingly endless supply of merchandise on offer. It has a food court in the basement, but the real pleasure is the collection of top-tier restaurants on the upper level.
Happy Valley Race Course is nearby, and Causeway Bay hosts the Hong Kong Racing Museum. Other points of interest in this area include Victoria Park near the waterfront and the shopping streets of Jardine’s Crescent and Jardine’s Bazaar.
Hotels in Causeway Bay follow Causeway Road through the northern part of the district. The MTR station is well-located in the center of the district, so it’s possible to walk to many of the major attractions.
