Quiet and Relaxing”
Stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay. The beach is nice black sand and there is good snorkelling right out in front of hotel as well as all along the bay. The restaurant has decent food and overlooks the ocean, and we even saw 10-12 dolphins just out front while eating a late lunch one day. There are good restaurants within a 5 minute walk (mainly to the left when leaving). The grounds are well maintained and the rooms are nice and quiet, would stay here again.
Location, sunbed on beach”
Amed is such a quiet and relaxing place we love it. Snorkelled most of the lipah beach with 2 mornings, right off the beach infront of hotel. Quite a lot of restaurants provide free pick up and drop off hence food wasn't a problem. Only things to note: Recep staff was not very helpful with calling for pick up, room has no tv so better find your own entertainment at night, food at hotel restaurant isn't really nice..
Well placed beachfront comfortable hotel ”
Comfortable and well appointed- great contemporary design outdoor bathrooms, pleasant and neat gardens. Pavilion restaurant right on black sand beach with excellent food. Magnificent sunrises directly in front. Snorkelling, local boat trips, diving all available through locals on the beach or via hotel staff. Quiet night life and limited shopping but who cares when you have the beach. Coral/fish snorkelling all possible off beach directly in front of hotel.
This place is a hidden paradise from the busier parts of Bali. I was a little concerned about booking here given some of the reviews around the breakfast and restaurant. These in my opinion were completely unwarranted. Breakfast was awesome and there was plenty of quality food. We stayed in four different resorts and this place had our most enjoyable breakfast. The grounds are immaculate and the rooms were nicely kept with huge bathrooms. If you want a place to chill this is a great option.
Peaceful and friendly”
The room was large and the beds are the best we have experienced in Bali. We are at the restaurant most days and the selection was impressive. Duck, ribs but especially the ravioli was amazing . Set in a beautiful garden . Don't miss sunrise from the day beds
What a place to snorkel and relax!!!”
Small hotel with only 16 cottages, each designed thoughtfully with Balinese architecture complimenting contemporary comforts. Gardens are beautifully maintained and the swimming pool is jus amazing; surrounded by lovely frangipani trees that offer shade during sunny mornings/afternoons. Snorkeling is fantastic right on the beach; it is so accessible that our 6 year old daughter could not believe that just entering the waves on the beach can take her to the surreal world where colourful fish and unreal coral makes you wonder if it is real or our imagination. Even the view of the beautiful mountains (behind the hotel) while snorkeling is amazing. Rooms are well kept and bathroom is so well-designed that I was taking a shower couple of times a day just to savour the open-bathroom facility (with a view green mountains and huts while having a shower). Tumpek restaurant serves really cold beer (including Guiness) and tasty food. Their sister hotel few metres to the right (Mahi Mahi restaurant at Coral View Villas) serves really tasty pizzas, wraps, burgers and sandwiches. The garden, especially around the pool, looks so great once the sun does down; the aesthetic arrangement of hand-made lanterns across the garden is just breathtakingly beautiful. The view of the sea, the waves and the mountains at this time of the day cannot be described in words. The restaurant next door (Bali Bhuana Cottages) serves Bali's best Black Rice Pudding for mere IDR 25,000. Please try it and thank the beautiful staff who makes this wonderful dish. Many restaurants in Amed offer complimentary pick-up and drop-off for dining and we tried The Grill one day and it was just amazing. One of the best BBQ pork ribs I ever had was here. Their entrée of homemade bread and dips was very delicious as well. The owner (Australian lady) is super friendly and ensures people are happy with the food, service and the atmosphere. Cannot wait to stay another wonderful stay at this place. Highly recommended.
Great value for money! ”
We stayed here for 3 nights. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. It is a small but quaint resort that still has everything you'd want. The food was our favourite! So many yummy dishes, ranging from local Balinese to more Western inspired ones. All in all, we enjoyed it very much! :)
We loved our stay we hired snorkelling equipment from front of hotel on beach. We could snorklel straight out from front of hotel. Love the dinning room overlooking the beach. The outside shower was geat. All over would highly recommend to stay there and we will be back
Not bad but could be better”
The room floor wasn't clean but the rest of the room was fine. The swimming pool was murky and smelt funny, so we didn't dare to use it. The beach was largely made of heat retentive black volcanic sand- do wear slippers while walking on it, I think I burnt my feet badly. The hotel will arrange for water activities for you but they did not inform me that there was a 5% commission charge. Whilst the prices they quote are a little higher than those by the beach boys, just remember that the boatmen you go out with are not safety trained; they will watch you impassively while you swim against the current just to get back to the boat. So to make sure that if anything unfortunate happens, the hotel would be able to search for me.
Quite place, all of beautiful , friendly staff”
Really quite place: no noise, nice area of the hotel All of beautiful : a lot of sculptures in the area, many flowers and trees, beautiful bungalows (a lot of nice things inside, high ceiling, a big volume , good terrace), beautiful corrals in the sea (just in front of the hotel!), clean beach Friendly staff and good services: they are ready to help in every unexpected things (e.g. go and bye money card for mobile telephone, booking cheap tickets to the bout on Gili islands), good laundry, good stuff at the restaurant (very sort, polite, a lot of smiles, etc. )
comfortable hotel/area for Relaxing ,Snorkling etc”
This hotel is fantastic for leisure, relax and you can snorkling and diving in the beach especially in summer season you can touch many kind of fish, you hold bread and fish come to you. or you can rent the jukung boat to giri selang to find out the other area for snorkling or diving.
Lovely place. Will be back...”
That's the 3rd time we stay in this hotel. Great standard, quiet, snorkeling, you can rent a motorbike to visit the area. Local boys on the beach are offering snorkeling trip to Coral Garden and Japanese wreck which are great sites. Diving is also amazing there. My favourite to relax in Bali...
Very nice, have beautiful garden, nice design room, spacious, walking distance 1 minute to the beach. The beach sand is black in color, my children enjoyed playing on the beach. Only the breakfast not too good.
Lovely and quiet”
We had a lovely stay at Hidden Paradise Cottages. A little bit more out of the way than we thought, but they were different and nice restaurants close , and a dive centre right next to it. The staff was fantastic, the food really good and the surroundings beautiful. Overall we spent 4 days of quiet times, jumping in the ocean straight from breakfast and chilling on our nice bungalow balcony!
Large cottages in garden setting on the beach”
This is not really Amed but Bunutan which is a couple of klm's away via lovely seaside villages. You can scooter to the Japanese ship wreck nearby and other snorkel sites(no need for the expensive Rp300,000 trip on the outrigger)very easily along the road. Great warung an easy walk along the beach for a great lunch or dinner. We did have a leaking roof during a night storm which dripped into the middle of the bed. We moved the bed over and when the staff cleaned the room the next day they didn't even move it back...
Newly refurbished cottages in a serene location”
we arrived at 7pm after the three hour drive from the airport. i had stayed in amed previously (although not at hidden paradise) so knew the travelling time and more or less what to expect in amed. we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves in a fresh, newly refurbished cottage; comfy bed, aircon ok, free wi fi, gorgeous outside bathroom with 'his and her' toilet paper folded in a cute fan shape! ate in the restaurant every morning for the delicious four-course breakfast of fruit, juice, pancakes, toast, eggs and coffee and also for two lunches and a dinner. not the cheapest food in the village but fresh and authentically balinese (or you can choose indonesian if you prefer). i loved the tum babi, he loved the nasi campur. snorkeling was wonderful. people were friendly. pool was gorgeous. no complaints. i'd go again.
safe choice in remote Amed”
Amed is a very remote location in Bali. The beach is beautiful and perfect spot for diving/ snorkeling. Best of all: it is graphical with fishermen boats along the beach as well as traditional houses with Balinese people living there. Lipah is the best spot in Amed area, but high quality tourism has not reach this part of the island yet: such a nice place and no mosquito net around the bed, does not make sense to me! If I were to go back to Amed again, I would go for foreign-run-hotels: safer for cleanliness and simple but logical installations.
far from the maddening crowd”
the hotel was indeed far from the maddening crowd that you would find elsewhere on bali and the 3-hours journey from the airport made it worth the long taxi ride. Great place to have a quiet relaxing holiday, it had clean rooms, good food and excellent beach. this is also a good place to start day-tours as east bali has plentiful attractions. Certainly worth a return stay.
My favorite spot in Bali”
My wife and I have stayed here before and it was just as nice the second time around and we look forward to staying there again' The staff are friendly and very pleasant. My only complaint is that the breakfast is delivered all at once rather than one course at a time so you can see there's nothing really worth complaining about, it's a very pleasant place!
Great location directly on beach, excellent food.”
Our 11 year old son loved this hotel as it was very safe and he could run around and explore. He enjoyed feeding the thousands of goldfish (just ask for toast scrap bread at the restaurant), swimming in the lagoon style pool and picking up coral on the beach. Our particular cottage was in need of renovations (especially the outdoor attached bathroom). There is no hot water or TV but we didn't miss it much. You can watch TV in the lobby at night on a projection screen if needed. They have room towels and beach/pool towels in the room - they really need to replace them as they are pretty worn. You are not supposed to use the room towels at the pool (they told me of this when taking them to the pool even though there are no signs in room stating this). There are no ATMs in town so bring plenty of cash. The hotel has has sister hotel up the beach which also has a great restaurant (chef from Australia). I would definitely stay at this hotel again but would ask for a renovated unit. Unit 31 has the wifi repeater for internet and hence the strongest signal.
