Came from a train ride to Berlin and hotel was just 3 min walk from central station Good links to public transportation to city centre Staff was friendly and helpful and you can check in online A bit noisy due to the location and no complimentary water
Online Check-in Inconvenience”
A few hours before arrival, I received an email from the property to check-in online to avoid the hassle of lining up at the hotel. I did that, and paid online with a successful confirmation from the hotel (a barcode check-in pass), and confirmation from my bank of the credit card payment. I then received an email that I can check-in immediately by scanning the bar code at the lobby and retrieve my room key card. Upon arrival, there was no separate terminal and desk dedicated for those who checked-in online. As the line was getting longer, another staff went out to facilitate other guests. I showed my online check-in pass and guest details. The staff notified me that the hotel was not yet paid. I insisted I paid already, hence I have the online check-in pass they sent to me. He insisted I did not. So I agreed to pay again, under protest. He then handed me the key cards. I called my bank to clarify if the first payment was only a hold to confirm my card. My bank confirmed to me I made double (successful) payments. I went down to the lobby and called the staff and explained. Apparently, the staff could not give me a categorical answer and advised me to talk directly to her supervisor at a later time when the line for other guests checkin-in was already manageable. I returned around 9:00 to talk to the supervisor. She then confirmed of the double payment and apologised for the system glitch. I accepted the apology but the entire incident defeats the very purpose of online check-in and payment to facilitate a seamless check-in. What is the point of giving the guests the option to check-in online when it is not recognized in the hotel’s system and go through the hassle of contacting your bank regarding double payments. This is a waste of time especially to those who just stayed overnight at the hotel. I hope the system will be reviewed by the hotel and rectifications should be made. Well located next to central station with easy access to places of interests by public transport. Facilities and staff service are good. Room size for junior suite is adequate for 3. However, there is no privacy when showering as no doors are provided.
