Good location but better options for less”
Best location but given how small Hobart is, I wouldn’t pay this rate again. Friendly staff clean room. But much cheaper options a few steps away
I was well looked after and my room was spacious, comfortable and made me feel good. ”
The hotel is opposite Constutution dock and walking distance to great eateries and entertainment along the way to Salamanca. Battery Point is just on top of the hill. Good exercise. If you dont feel like eating out there is a bar and restaurant. Great staff and customer service. It's a real hotel. Also restaurants across from the hotel I was not happy that there is no lift from car park to lobby. You need to carry baggage upstairs to the lobby. Also all hotels shld have a singles rate. We pay the same as a whole entire family who occupy a room and there may be more than 5 people. . Discrimination! I did see some of this going on.
Nice room....beautiful view”
The room was quite plain, but the harbour view was Beautiful. Although the bathroom was small with a single vanity and very little bench space, the shower was powerful. What I didnt understand was the additional $5 delivery charge for room service?? In any language, room service = food delivered to your room! We thought $18.50 for a toasted sandwich was pretty exorborant, but that was our choice. However, when it came to check-out and I questioned the room service price, I was told we owed an additional $5 for delivery. R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S!! C’mon Grand Chancellor........you’re better than this.
Captivating view ”
The best part of a stay here is the captivating view, overlooking the cruise ship berth. There was an enormous one anchored while we were staying, and it added an extra dimension to our holiday photographs. While we didn't dine at the hotel restaurant, it didn't seem too outlandishly expensive for a luxury hotel. Staff were polite and efficient. Bonus is the Skybus stop right outside which makes getting to the hotel and back to the airport effortless.
We booked a premium room with mountain view and were a little disappointed to really see just city roofs so got online to check how much it would be to upgrade to seaview and found the prices of the seaview rooms had gone down cheaper than what we paid for the mountainview so went down to the reception and asked to be upgraded. They went above and beyond and upgraded us to a Premium suite and of course we could not have been happier. Will definitely stay here again.
Chris from Melbourne”
Greta location, walking distance to everything. Staff really helpful.
Clean and comfortable”
Beautiful harbour view. Clean, comfortable room. Nice public lounge spaces on selected floors with couches in front of sprawling windows directed at the harbour + binoculars to play with. Parking onsite at very reasonable rates .
Great looking hotel, lovely pool but could not sleep very well. First night the pub nearby was playing loud music and people singing all night. Lovely staff moved me to the other side but this time traffic noise kept me awake. I would not stay here again untill they install double glazed windows which seems to be standard at most modern hotels and I forgot to ask about it for this older style hotel.
Hotel was smack bag in the middle of the city/water front couldn't been better location. Staff were super friendly and helpful, food and drinks at hotel was great. Room were very nice and clean. Price for a hotel bang for your buck
Amazing service 10/10 ”
Amazing service Clean highly recommend 10/10
Great position, everything needed under the one roof. Staff very obliging. Thank you
Ticked all the boxes
Treated as home”
Perfect service, good location, nice view, clean and large room
Another comfortable stay”
My room (1208) had a superb view over the harbour. Working desk + light were good, bedroom and bathroom spotlessly clean and well-equipped. Swimming pool is a bit small and not well-designed so when doing laps, large waves form. Staff were very helpful and a late night glass of wine by the fireplace in the lobby was pleasant.
the best in Hobart I believe”
Grand Chancellor is center of everything... the bus to bruny island is close, the salamanca market is nearby and so is the battery point. Parking is extra but its not bad. I love the view of the harbor and the service is fantastic. The free bike is a GREAT GREAT GREAT add on!
Friendly and helpful staff from front desk to room service. Instead of taken taxi to airport, front desk staff suggested that we can use private driver service at stand by price similar to taxi services. The private hotel car services is to be recommended at standby rate. Value for money. Great location with water view. We booked city view and was upgraded to water view. Thank you front desk staff for a lovely unexpexted surprise!
Great Bed and comfortable room”
I would recommend this hotel. Very good bed and comfortable room with good facilities. Two issues were the TV was very poor with an extremely average picture and the internet offering was not up to the standard available in similar hotels. Expensive and poor speed.
Good location ”
Spent two nights at the Grand Chancellor Hobart, very good location, with plenty of restaurants close by. Also a short walk to the Salamanca Market and shopping area. There is parking available but it is not complimentary, at $9 a day it's acceptable. Wifi is also available in the rooms.
Great location by the dock, nice and comfy rooms”
The harbour view rooms are much nicer as you get the full view facing the sea, I also got one with the bathtub which I enjoyed. The location is just across the street from the pier, easy to access food & the many tours that begin from there. Would recommend eating at the Mures for breakfast as they have a good variety and also the fish and chips stores just on the dock. Also recommend joining the bruny island tours while you are at Hobart! Great experience. Bad thing about this hotel is no free wifi (I realize quite a lot of hotels in Aus don't offer this) and some of the staff are a bit arrogant... Also no free parking for hotel guests :(
I was disappointed to be charged AU$9.00 per night for parking at this hotel but its location and the room were well worth while. The bathroom was rather small - and the swimming pool on 10th (?) floor even smaller - but the room was good, with good lighting, a comfortable work desk with good work lighting, and two windows that opened to give superb views over the harbour and the early morning sunshine. Breakfast in the Tasman Room (?) was excellent - good coffee, Tas smoked salmon, Huonville mushrooms
