I was staying here at JW Marriott recently for 2 nights, July 6 and July 7. The hotel in my opinion is not deserving to get 5 starts rating. First too many mosquito in Hotel lobby that make us all uncomfortable to relax and speaking with friends in Lobby areas. The breakfast buffet was overflow and they put me in the lobby instead of inside their dining room. our server has almost never coming to fill up our coffee and tea and hardly cleaning our plates that stacked in our table. Food is just average nothing special and taste is just ok.

Good hotel with fantastic location”

Security of the hotel is high and the staff were all nice and helpful. Appreciate the concierge staff for walking us out of the hotel to show us the direction to the ATM. :):) The room was huge and generally clean. Although we would much appreciate a cleaner shower head. Pillow were on the soft side too. But generally we still had a fantastic stay, and the breakfast was great!

location is a few minutes walk from tunjungan mall, but there's also free shuttle service every hour if you are lazy to walk. the room is very good size, classic style and well maintained, nice deco and layout. the dressing gown is very comfortable. the bathroom is also large enough, i could spend hours under the rain-shower. the gym is very well equipped and has very large changing room, steam room and sauna. we took the room without breakfast as we prefer to check out the local breakfast around. will definitely stay in this hotel again if the price point is within our budget.

Centrally located in Surabaya CBD, not attached to TP shopping center, but there is shuttle bus everyhour from and to TP. Facilities are excellent, small swimming pool, attached to smoking area. The room is nice and well equipt but the pillow is soft and soggy. Order in room breakfast, bit slow but very well presented and tasty. Bar is the greatest disappointment, smokers are allowed to sit inside the fully AC room (big surprise for me considering Marriot international reputation, even smaller hotel in Indonesia already adapt not to smoke policy inside AC room and has allocated smoking area), slow service, "had to be reminded" 2 for order and at the end, over charged with food that we did not order. Apart from that the staff are freindly and helpful.

Great location, worth every penny”

It’s located nearby Tunjungan Plaza by 5 to 7 minutes of walking distance. There were lots of restaurant and mini market nearby this area so it was so convenient for me. Easy to get GrabCar or GrabBike. Check-in and check-out processes were super fast. Everyone speaks English very well. Room was massive. I requested for a non-smoking room, unfortunately it was full house and I was given a smoking room. However the room I had was great and there was no smell of cigarettes at all. Breakfast were good, perhaps need to widen the range of food. Taste wise, absolutely fantastic. I love the herb drink so much! Walking distance to other attractions such as Majapahit Hotel (one of the oldest hotel in town), Genteng Kali (at the back of Majapahit Hotel and a place to find local cuisines, souvenirs or fabrics) and Surabaya Museum. Overall this is great hotel at reasonable price.

Good - but very noisy..”

Definitely not recommendable for people sensitive to noise. Isolation of the building is not state of the art. Very noisy doors and you here everything from the neighbor rooms and the floors above you. At 03:30 in the morning the muezzins around the hotel send their prayers in the air. The windows have no acoustic isolation... But staff is very nice, polite and caretaking. Breakfast is great.

5 Star Hotel with Best Restaurant In Surabaya”

Upscale 5-star Hotel in Surabaya. Was recently renovated. Love the new, revamp rooms. It has the modern & luxurious touch. The Hotel Dining is the BEST in Surabaya. -Tang Palace (Chinese) has the best upscale Dim Sum in Surabaya. The Chinese food here is also nice. -Imari (Japanese) is my favourite Japanese Fine Dining. The Beef Wagyu Fusion by Chef Gadung, Lobster Teppanyaki, Salmon Belly Sashimi and Seafood Teisoku are some of my favourite Menu. Tips: If you come in gorup choose the Tatami setting. -Vis A Vis is France Fine Dining with good steak. -The Pavilion Buffet Breakfast, Buffet Lunch/ Dinner is also OK

The first room I stayed hadproblems with the aircondition, it was hot and made my daughter sweats. And called the room service and had it cleaned, still made my daughter sweats, and i complained to transfer to another room, which colder... but on the second room, had a smell coming from the toilets, and had an engineer checked on it, but still smells...Hope in the future the hotel will check and look for the problems.

Good location, just across the famous Rawon Setan (spicy hot beef black soup), minutes to Bebek Sinjay, approx. 15 minutes to Cathedral, 30 mins from airport. Stayed in Studio room, it's spacious and the city view was awesome. Service is excellent. Breakfast is good. High standard safety. Will definitely come back.

Friendly staff, comfortable room, various and nice breakfast, comfortable bed and pillow. However, there is no kids club beside swimming pool for the kids to play and need to add the frequent of the shuttle bus to/from hotel and Tunjungan Plaza, especially during high season like year end holiday. Bus capacity is small and a lot hotel guest are going to Tunjungan Plaza, hence waiting period is long. Also no queing line at the hotel and at Tunjungan Plaza, so everybody chasing the mini bus to get a seat even it hasn't fully stop yet.

5 Star treatment”

The best thing about this hotel is the all round friendly and helpful staff. The decor and furniture in the room leans towards a old-fashioned and classic look with wood cabinets/closets. The bed was a bit too soft for me. The lobby was impressive with a nice lounge with furnished with comfortable chairs. There were beautiful antiques ceramics from China and Japan in glass cases. Downsides : The main road in front of the hotel is nearly impossible to cross on foot because there are too many cars even up to 11.00 pm. Another downside is the dinner (twice) I had at the Pavilion restaurant. The dishes were disappointing as they were not tasty.

I am quite impressed by the staff's hospitality, especially one working at the its Chinese restaurant on 13th Nov. She is promoting the Hotel's business, seems to have a great passion for it. She needs a reward but I did not catch her name, unfortunately.

good located 5 star hotel”

My activities was around the city, and this hotel is just about in the center. There is a car-free day program on Sunday at about 5 mins walk from the hotel. A good chance to sight seeing and look for what the locals do on week end. Hotel facilities are standard 5-stars hotel. So, no complaints on that part.

What an amazing stay”

I came to Surabaya quite often, but this is my first time stay at JW Marriott. And boy i'm so impressed with very thing that this hotel have. The check in and the check out process were quick! They even allow me to have an early check in. The room is huge! With a spectacular city view. The bed is so damn comfortable. I really love it. The pool is kinda so so. But the grass field beside the pool is so pretty. The breakfast here is great with many many choices. I personally love their french toast. But the breakfast area is kinda to small. Too crowded. One of the plus point for this hotel is that they provide a free shuttle service to Tunjungan Plaza, the biggest shopping mall in Surabaya. Without a doubt i'll stay at JW Marriott next time i travell to Surabaya!
