Peaceful stay in a nice cabin. ”
I would recommend to who want to stay in a peaceful lake. The cabin is huge and way more enough for 4 persons. Huge living room that you can fit more than 4. The decoration is not modern but I love it. Cons there are a lot of sandfly and moth during the night
Nervous First Timers”
We come from the United States & we had never stayed in hostels or shared living spaces and it turned out to be one of the best locations for family trips such beautiful scenery including the lake, mountains etc. We got a private colored cabin in front of the playground. You do not have to share your room with other people which we thought we might. Staff was great and very knowledgeable about surrounding areas/stores/restaurant. We were provided towels for showers. We can't wait to come back with our kids. You have private spacious rooms shared showers restrooms and kitchen. Playground for children and lots of excursions you can book or items you can rent. Wonderful restaurant up the road as well as a small convenience store. We had 4 beds available to us 3 twins and one queen if not king my husband is 6'2 and he slept very comfortable. This is for sure a family area you will have children all through out the camp we have children so hearing them play was not a problem for us.
helpful staff and stunning lake views”
we arrived late that night and we struggled also to find the location in the dark.however upon arrival all those headaches relieved as the cabin as we noted that the cabin was in very good condition and the staff was very helpful.
Not for light sleepers and clean freaks”
The view was lovely and staff were very friendly (thanks for your help with the coin laundry). However, facility was minimal. Bathroom/shower floor was icky so pack flipflops. There was also apparently no cutting board in the shared kitchen, according to the bunch of noisy PRC next door who kept me awake - NZ is crawling with them. I did not sleep well, but also not sure if I want to wake up to the sight of campers dumping their toilet - waste station was in front of the cabins... Oh speaking of campers, I would recommend this place if you have a camper van. Plenty of good spots on the ground to camp with a gorgeous view of the moon over the lake.
Decet little park”
Stayed in a challet. Rustic and a bit rough but you could tell it was well cared for. Bedding was very high quality and comfortable. Small beds in the spare bedroom. Friendly staff. Campgrounds looked clean and well cared for. Would stay here again!
Comfortable place to stay, near lake, enough facilities, washing machine, stove, tv, and everything that guest needs.
Quiet Off Peak Visit”
My partner and I had a lovely two night stay. Was very cold but was provided with a extra heater. The manager was brilliant for us. Couldn't have been more helpful! The fire pit was a lovely extra we spent hours finding wood to burn. The views of the lake and mountain range is outstanding!!! Kitchen and wash rooms are a very good size.
Compared with other holiday parks, some staff here seems to be not so friendly. The staff from other holiday park which I stayed offered postal card mailing service proactively. Here is a big NO. Okay, no problem. There was a power off at night and probably got recovered in 5-10mins. No apologies for it. Anyway.
Great for star gazing ”
We stayed at the lake view cabin (only one in the whole park and it has a little bench outside the cabin right beside the lake) which was the furthest away from toilets and kitchen as it was right beside the lake. Cabin was small as advertised on Agoda but view of the lake was fantastic. It was like we had first class seats for the lake view, though the walk to the toilets were pretty far and can be cold (wear a jacket) when going to the toilets at night. Toilets were clean though they look slightly old. Didn’t use the kitchen but it looks spacious. As the park had minimal lighting at night, it was great for star gazing. Just look up to the sky from wherever you are at night and you will see the whole milky way above you. I have never seen so many stars before (not even at Lake Tekapo, maybe because I didn’t stay out too late).
Superb Family motorcamp.”
This motor camp has a fantastic family outlook. It was so good to know that a campground such as this one still exists. Seeing children playing outside freely without the need for devices was great! The facilities were clean and well sorted. Overall - highly recommended!
Could do with kitchen facilities improvement”
Kitchen facilities were disappointing. There was only one saucepan and no lids. The kitchen was under video surveillance, presumably because pilfering was occurring. Some solutions might be: guest key access only to the kitchen, or to issue a set of kitchen things to each cabin, or to have key access to a locked cupboard of kitchen things. There is a lot of scope for developing the facilities better. I would recommend the owners take a tour of the YHA Lakefront Queenstown kitchen an aspirational goal.
Lovely location on the banks of the lake. Quiet holiday park cabin, ideal for travellers who are happy to drive into Wanaka, it is a a 15 minute drive into Wanaka where you can partake in a range of sports activities. Lots of walks and trails can be done and staff were happy to assist and advice what is around. Family cabin was made up and linen and towels did not have to be paid extra for. Shared kitchen a lot smaller than some so could be busy and not much space depending on the time people prepared food. Large applicances available and a small anmount of cutlery. Would suggest you had your own and didn't rely on using what is available.
Skip this unless you are on fishing trip”
The place is a bit far off from Wanaka & its very old.
Cabin has no bathroom and shower room. ”
It(bathroom) is far about 5 min from the room. When it's raining, it is terrible.
The place was spacious but cleanliness very disappointing. A lot of bugs. Make sure close all the windows and door before sleep.
Pots, pans and cutleries provided. Only 30mins of free WiFi. Clean room and toilets
Very helpful staff
Right beside Hawea Lake. The family room was clean and quite enough for 5 of us. The shared bathroom and kitchen were not so clean, but still acceptable.
good stay , next to lake Hawea”
clean, quiet, cooking facilities need improve that not have enough bowl, plate, fork and spoon
Stunning view from the cabin! ”
Cons: toilet is too far from the cabin
