Honeymoon visit ”
We were really excited to come and visit. Once we arrived, we were upgraded to a nicer room. Keep in mind the rooms online do not include the activities. So we payed around $135 for both of us to have elephant pick up from room to dinner, one swim, and bathing, and one morning breakfast. The rooms and staff were always friendly. The dinner was affordable and delicious. The elephants were treated really well. We learned the history about a few elephants and the process it takes for the trainers to handle the elephants and why they brought them to the lodge. The only 2 hesitations I had were: I only saw the elephants eat one type of food from the trainers (I think it was coconut palms) - however you can buy a mixture of food to feed two elephants for 50,000 IDR $3.55 USD. But what about the others? Secondly, from my room I saw the elephants overnight and two swayed nonstop. Those seemed stressed. Otherwise, it was a wonderful stay!
Amazing elephants, but terrible lodging!”
The elephants and the rescuers (workers) were amazing. Let you spend time with elephants and take pictures and feed etc. Hotel was awful. Bathroom stunk once used it once. Location is completely out the way and nothing close by which makes you have to use the lodge cafe etc (not ideal) front of house staff refused to let us use the “free” shuttle bus into UBud because we had already checked out earlier than we needed to??... they then tried to charge us 2 x the amount for transfer to which the local taxis charge.
Excellent experience at the elephant park”
If you regard this price to a hotel, it seems like the price is expensive. But the experience here is unique. We had a lot of fun staying here the whole day. The schedule given by the hotel is so full. The zoo visiting, elephant pick-up for dinner, elephant introduction, next morning's elephant bathing and swimming, elephant forest safari. It could take all day time when staying. The elephants here are so nice and lovely. The dinner price here in the park is nice. Staff here are so nice and polite. Unforgettable experience. But I am a little worried about if there is animal abuse when training the elephants.
Very unique experience”
This was a very unique experience. It's not like just staying at a hotel although it is a hotel also but the whole elephant experience is truly amazing. We did spring for the parkview Room which I thought really was well worth it. Sitting on your patio and watching the elephants is something you really can't do every day.
More than expected”
Lenni was our host and she provided an outstanding service. The hotel is great, rooms are top notch and we got the perk of getting the elephant to pick us for dinner. Plus, being a hotel guest can wander the park at will. Great service, great value
A must see/do!”
I LOVED staying here. It was an amazing experience. They took us by elephant to the dinner and we played with the elephants all day long. I noticed most of the elephants actually grew up with their riders. They were well taken care of and each rider loved their elephant like it was their child. The room itself was very clean, private, and just gorgeous. I loved the location because it was far enough away from Ubud city center that it made it a very peaceful experience. Service is very friendly and always helpful. They also had a 5 day old baby elephant when I went!
Wow-even better than our high expectt”
We travelled from afar and had high expectations but this place is AMAZING. The entire staff was perfect and all wanted to make sure the whole family had a great time. Everyone was always smiling and the answer to almost all requests was “yes.” Special thanks to the Mason Elephant Lodge for a great stay and life long memories!
Worth every penny..”
We stayed overnight and wished we booked longer.. definitely recommend accommodation with elephant access as they collect you straight from your balcony. Staff were so friendly and helpful - with only good things to say about their boss / environment. Elephants were well looked after. Yes some are changed however for their own safety (most rescued and not related). Honestly worth all the money and would stay again when visiting Bali!
We got an upgrade for a room, but after a day we actually changed it to our original room. Even though in the room with a rice field view, you couldnt get picked up with an elephant, we liked it better because it was much brighter plus it had a balcony. The upgrade one was dark and at the very end so we didnt feel comfortable there. The rooms were very clean, containing everything you need. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was very good. Elephant experience was just a cherry on top. But the locations of our rooms were not a 5* experience. So going there on a budget, that is what you get.
Great hotel, we really enjoyed this as a stop on our honeymoon. Very busy and good to see through the day, but our 2 nights were very quiet with little to no people using the hotel, which was a shame as the quality and service of the resort and staf was impeccable.
Beautiful location and great food!
Beautiful experience with the elephants. My son will never forget it. The best was the washing in the morning and the ride to the restaurant in the evening. The only thing is that as a customer staying at the resort, I would have wished that we are given priority to take pictures with the elephants and not have to wait for all the young teenagers who take 500 000 photos for their instagram account and don't event care for the elephants...
Child friendly ”
I love travelling and since I’ve had my hound boys 1 and 2 years I was hesitant but staying at the lodge make myself and my family feel welcome and couldn’t help us enough. Great experience , friendly staff and beautiful environment. Happy family experience all round 😃
Phenomenal experience!! One of a lifetime!”
We were worried about the state the elephants would have been kept in and for that reason, we only booked one night. When we arrived, it was dark but we could hear the incredible tooting of the elephants from our room and it was incredible! It was a jungle experience, as we walked to our room we walked past a snake and a few frogs! Super cool! The next day when we woke up, we were saddened to see the elephants were tied up by a short chain to one leg and I instantly didn’t want to take part in any elephant activities. But shortly after breakfast, we saw they released almost all of them to roam freely and take part in washing, swimming and riding. We took part the elephant wash and swim and also the elephant ride. The elephant wash and swim were both incredible. Getting up close with these animals (with out chains !!) was such an amazing experience. The elephants seemed to really love it. The ride.. we didn’t enjoy so much, we didn’t feel the elephant enjoyed it as much..
What an amazing place. We were upgraded on arrival which was wonderful and the lodge is just beautiful. Its all about the elephants and you can see the sparkle in their eye. I have told so many people at home about it who are already looking at booking in. Well done Nigel Mason !!!
Booked up last minute, and am I glad I did, top quality facilities and 5 star service and food. If you are worried about the elephants welfare consider starting with the poor dogs that litter bali with untold ailments. These elephants are very well and after speaking with the mahut he informed me that they do not allow the elephants to perform shows. Overall a very well run park that you can get up close with such magnificent animals.
Do not support this animal abuse ”
The elephants are not treated humanely. At ~ 5:00pm we walked around & saw the elephants were chained by their ankles, chain only being ~1 ft long. Elephants were pulling at their chains trying to break free, causing them to have deep cuts around their ankles. At this time several elephants were surrounded by piles of their own feces. We asked when the mess will be cleaned up & were told the cleaning crew would not come until the next morning, meaning those elephants are chained up next to huge piles of their own poop for 12+ hours. We saw the workers using bullhooks, & the elephants have cuts/sores on the tops of their heads & behind their ears. Elephants seem to be in a constant loop of giving rides to tourists & looked so uncomfortable in the poses the workers were making them get into so tourists could snap selfies w/ them. I was so upset when I saw what the reality of this place is that we left early the next morning, staying only 1 night even though we booked 2. Avoid this place
Unique and memorable experence”
On our late arrival the reception team were very nice and accommodating. They greeted me by name (last guest apparently but still fantastic)The place gives the feeling of a 5 star hotel but as friendly as a small guest house. Our room was excellent, spacious, clean, unique and 5 star standard with complimentary chocolates and fruit in the room. Dinner that night was one of the nicest of my visit to Bali and breakfast was perfect. All the staff were friendly and helpful! Finally the best bit. It's not often in life you will wake up in the morning with a few of elephants having their breakfast, or get an elephant taxi to your dinner reservation. Getting to give one of those magnificent animals a wash in the morning was a great experience. A very memorable part of our trip to Bali.
A must do experience ”
Very caring and attentive staff throughout the beginning to end! The whole experience is amazing and the elephants seem very happy. The room is quite something and the bathroom. Food was incredible!! Loved our stay! Thank you
