Virtually perfect!”

What a gorgeous hotel.. and I’ve been around. It’s just majestic! The hotel grounds are beautifully kept, the smell of the Frangipani is everywhere. The beach is the best we’ve seen in Bali, the pools are beautiful, the rooms are stunning, the tennis court is in good shape, the breakfast food is excellent although not extremely varied, the staff is super friendly and professional, the service is amazing (for example you are given a beach bag with cold water bottles and tennis balls in case you need them evey time you want to play tennis, also, a little dessert is left on the bed every night after the room had been prepared for sleeping).. the BBQ night is an absolute must-try with some of the best food we’ve had in Bali!!

Beatiful hotel away from the crowds”

The hotel has some of the most beautiful grounds of any I have visited in Bali. The rooms are lovely, and the two dining areas - at the beach and by a lily pond in the gardens - make the most of the surroundings. Service is excellent and personalized, with great attention to detail. We really appreciated the little things - like getting an additional set of towels in the room for our daughter without having to ask. It happens surprisingly rarely at other hotels! Spa treatments also come highly recommended!

A real 5 star resort ”

It took 4 hours to reach Matahari Beach resort but we rapidly forgot our tiredness as this place is truly a paradise on Earth. Everything was perfect : the food, the accommodation, the staff, the diving center, the spa, etc...

Nice hotel with beautiful garden”

A lovely hotel at the north coast of Bali. The garden is absolutely wonderful and the rooms are in lovely little bungalows with a lovely traditional looking interior design. The staff in the restaurant is very friendly and helpful. We loved the pool - big and clean. The beach was okay, it is a small strip with black sand but set-up nicely by the hotel. The food in the restaurant was mostly good but not outstanding. Its worth to explore options outside the hotel

Always perfect!”

Every time I visit Matahari is better than the time before. One of these days I simply will not leave. The newly-furnished beach is lovely and more conducive than ever to simply lounging with a good book, cooling occasionally wi a dip in the warm Java Sea. The most difficult challenge every day is deciding where to have dinner - in the beautiful dining pavilion by the lotus pool or under an umbrella in the beach. Ah, such challenges....

I have stayed at the Matahari several times - once alone and I felt like a queen, once with my kids and grandkids, once for my daughter's birthday - and I am on my way back there tomorrow with a visiting friend. Can you guess that I like it and would recommend it very highly?!?

The hotel good but not for family with kids”

The hotel was nice, quiet, clean and tidy..the room is ok also with open bathroom. But unfortunately there is no TV at room and for sure this not for family with kids....

Very Special Place!”

I spent several days at Matahari a year ago and loved it so much then that I wanted my daughter to experience it so we celebrated her birthday there this year. It could not have been better! She loved it as much as I do, and we recommend it highly for anyone wanting to get away from the hectic tourist areas in south Bali. The drive north through the mountains is beautiful and while the beach at Matahari is rocky, there are good swimming beaches nearby and they hotel staff will arrange snorkeling trips to beautiful Manjangan Island.

Overrated”

The destination is in the middle of no where, with very little to do. The staff were morose, the property in the rain is difficult to navigate due to badly designed paths which were flooded. Worst of all we were told Mathati guests like to rest therefore there was no television. We waited at the entrance to the property when we arrived as there was 1 staff person who was busy with someone else, our taxi driver helped carry the bags in. Very unimpressed. Many nicer places and resorts in Bali to go to. We left 3 days early and went to Kuta.

Our stay was perfection! The villas and the grounds are impeccably maintained. The food is very, very good. And the staff - oh, my, the staff! They were wonderful to us and always willing to accommodate all of our ages (8-73). The children loved their pineapple carving class and we all loved and appreciated the concert given by the children from the orphanage the resort supports. I can unequivocally recommend the Matahari. Guests should know that there is no "house reef" but that is easily remedied by either a nice walk along the beach to an area where reef restoration is occurring, or by a boat ride out to the beautiful Manjangan Island (the fish there are glorious, but rainy season brings a floating island of rubbish, unfortunately).

Wonderful Honeymoon”

My husband and I spent 5 nights there for our honeymoon. It was such a beautiful resort with so many small special touches such as bringing you a cold washcloth and water on the beach, coming around with fruit sticks for an afternoon snack, offering to deliver cocktails to your room at no eaxtra charge. The rooms and spa are gorgeous and there is a dive shop right at the hotel. We went scuba diving at Manjang Island and booked the Secret Garden trip where we got to go hiking and jump off waterfalls. All the staff were very friendly and the Manager spent a lot of time helping us fix a double booking I had accidently made on-line.

An amazing place with a lot of character! ”

Everything was perfect! A place with lot of character, intricate woodwork on the doors and windows, beautiful typical furniture, attention to every detail. Amazing almost deserted black sand beach, lush gardens, unforgettable snorkeling. Attentive and kind staff, very nice beach restaurant and a spa not to be missed. We absolutely loved the place and are certain to come back to on our next Bali trip!

We spent a fantastic week at this hotel! Beautiful villas surrounded by gorgeous and very well maintained garden; a terrific gourmet restaurant offering both local and western cuisine; very friendly and helpful staff; superb spa and diving school;...simply perfect !

Relaxing, beautiful atmosphere, perfect hide away”

Very good resort, excellent facilities, friendly staff, good food, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The resort is well managed, staff is recruited from the neighbourhood, local people do supply fish, vegetables etc. directly. Never met staff friendlier than here. Facilities are extremely well maintained. The garden is a beauty, with hundreds of birds. It's a little paradise on earth, very well suited for a relaxing time.
