Good location, clean hotel, friendly staff”
Excellent stay at the hotel. Good location with many shopping areas nearby, good food around the corner. Staff were excellent in their service, very friendly and very helpful. Hotel was also very clean, and prim and proper. Great hotel! Keep it up! :)
This was a great hotel. I was expecting the room to be bigger but then again, photos can deceive you. It looks like a old hotel but has been refurbished. I would prefer the internet to be free all the time, but then again, it is in Australia. Still, a great hotel, near to shopping centers.
Fast check in ”
Arrived at the hotel nearly 2 in the morning after a long flight. The check in was smooth and fast. Have to ask housekeeping staff for a shaving kit and it was delivered promptly. Room was clean. Cable TV programme was limited but the football World Cup was showing live in one of the channel. Internet was not fast as they are still using ADSL instead of Fibre broadband. And package was expensive at nearly $27 for a day usage. The location of the hotel was great as it was near the Queens Street Mall. Check out was smooth as well.
The staff at the hotel was great. The cook, sorry I did not get his name, but he is I think an Italian or Greek, who was serving breakfast, make for us hard boiled eggs which came with egg shell peel off and kept warm with hot water in a bowl which surprises me. Very considerate of him to do that. The housekeeping staff was efficient and very prompt. I have asked for a disposal toothbrush and toothpaste kit and it was delivered to me within 15 minutes. While I was not happy with the daily cost of A$35 to park the car, the guys who take care of the car were great. They asked whether we need the car for the day and when do we need it and the car will be there waiting for you. The concierge loan us an umbrella when it drizzled one evening while we were going out for dinner. The hotel room was okay generally but I dislike the bed which I think was too soft. Hot water for the shower was fast. The biggest pain point during my stay was the access card. It fails to work two days in a row when we were laden with shopping bags and want to go up to our room. Otherwise the hotel was great for its location to Queens Street Mall, and the great staff we have met.
- Staffs were very friendly and helpful, they guide use how to go to Brisbane scenes with patient, good service. - We arrived early at around 11:30am and they can check in for us, no need to wait to 2pm. - The location is great and close railway.
Late. night stay”
The bedroom was lovely but the bathroom was outdated and roughly renovated. The shower head height was low and non-adjustable. The front desk staff were friendly however the breakfast service in the restaurant was wanting.
The heater wasn’t working and there were no blankets. The room had another door that connected with the room next door and it was so loud
Small room, dated furnishings
Great location and good prices. Customer service was excellent. Only thing I annoying was there were no complimentary water bottles in room and there was no milk or creamer for tea and coffee. You get that even in low budget hotels these days as well. I was told to have water from mini bar and they will sort it out. I was charged later on but when I explained to girl at desk she waived all the charges. But would have been nice to have it in room as complimentary. Apart from this everything was perfect.
If it weren't for the friendly staff...”
From beginning to end, even for an overnight stay, the performance of the staff was exemplary. Friendly, smiling, and very helpful where possible, the staff here carry the hotel where management fail. Our stay was satisfactory overall, don't get me wrong. However, like many places in Australia, the Hotel is way over-priced. Rooms are small... wi-fi or breakfast are additional costs (though on our occasion, a friendly staff member showed us how to get free wi-fi for the night). I travel to many countries, and despite being an AU resident, I always dread returning to Australia due to the unnecessarily inflated hotel costs. As mentioned, our stay was ok enough but I wouldn't be doing it again without some heavily discounted incentive. Again, big thank you to the wonderful front-office staff.
A very enjoyable 2 nights in town. Most helpful staff throughout including our cleaner Maria. Only had one issue but this was addressed and rectified very quickly. Would not hesitate to return. Thank You
Good for a quick break”
The hotel is close to city centre and transporation, which made convenient to go everywhere. The hotel is attached to Pullman, which shares the same reception. It was under renovation when I was there, so the feel is OK.
Holidaying in Australia”
Front End staff was very rude and there was long wait for us to check in at hotel. We tried to Park our car from 10 PM to midnight and rate list clearly indicate charges would be $5, but reception desk is adamant that we need to pay full price which is $45 for one night stay. When I explained her about $5 parking, she directed me that we should go and talk to the concierge. It's a complete mess as Hotel staff at night time is not friendly and need some hospitality lessons
Nice looking, but cold. Not coming back.”
We are in a group with 2 little kids, as well as my parents who are in their mid 60s. We stayed in this hotel to rest up for our 8hrs layover. Extremely disappointed at the service and general friendliness of this hotel. We were notified that concierge were not available at 1.40am (concierge was why we chose this hotel, didn't know that it had conditions). We have had this situation before, and understood that it makes sense not to have concierge at certain hours due to low activity. But, in those other times, in other hotels that we have faced this, available staff were more than helpful to our needs. This particular hotel had 1 male, and 1 female staff at reception that didn't lift a finger. We have had to use their concierge trolleys to move our many heavy luggage ourselves. This was our 4th leg, traveling back. We were exhausted and jet-legged. They wouldn't have a clue of course, but nor did they allow benefit of the doubt.
The only down side was the actual room...the bed was too soft and the decor was a bit old. It was great that there was a safe in the room, but a second dining chair would have been good. Also would have liked some in-house movies for free rather than having to pay more for them.
Stayed for convenience ”
Got married at Brisbane City Hall, so only stayed for convenience. Probably wouldn't stay again - old hotel and very confusing with the two different brands at one reception with no signage. Little cafe in the foyer needs some work - again no signage and staff who don't know what they are doing (when someone can't do something as simple as making a toasted cheese sandwich, they need training).
Second time staying here, again consistently helpful staff, very attentive, rooms well equiped and clean, house keeping doing a great job. Waygu beef burger on room service is a must try. Agoda offer a cheaper rate than the venue itself.........I find this quite amusing. I called up reception and they quoted me 189 per night. Agoda gave it to me for 149 per night. In any case, it is a good hotel, and I would stay there again.
Excellent location, very expansive (and bad) wifi”
The hotel is perfectly situated in the center of Brisbane. Dont make the same mistake as I made: there are 2 Mercure hotels in de city Center, so first check in which one you booked a room. The room is not very large, and the bathroom is ok. Complimentary wifi (100 mb) is very poor. There is a parking, the rate is 40 $/night. Excellent breakfast!
