Cozy and nice place in Hunter”
First time staying in Mercure Hunter Valley, even though we drove past here many times before :) all I can say it’s a very cozy and comfy place to stay, you can visit the reception area at night and warm yourself near the fireplace ! Room was spacious, bed was comfy. However the lightning in the room was too dark, hopefully they can have a better lightning next time when we visit. Thank you Mercure Hunter Valley
Great location; revamp needed”
Location is tops. But really the hotel is in great need of a major overhaul. Mostly staff are helpful esp Tamara at reception. Would only recommend hotel for those who hv no access to own transport at the hunter.
So relaxed we stayed another night”
We originally booked for 1 night but after a few hours we knew we wanted more. The staff were so accomodating and friendly. Winerys and cheese places within walking distance or the resort had them as well. Fine dining all around. Just a great escape.
Blackout - too bad for guests !”
The location is the selling point for the Mercure, our stay was nice but not exceptional. The Fridge in the room was hot, there was no complimentary cold water etc. & as there was a power blackout during our stay, we had a whole night without light & air conditioning. We arrived home from a concert to find the place in darkness, no one from the hotel bothered to have staff try to notify us of what was going on or apologise / assist with torches etc. I realise that it was not the fault of the hotel, but keeping in mind that guests have paid close to $400 per night here, I found this quite bad service and very disappointing - more could have been done to make guests comfortable, not a great experience at all.
We loved the sceneries and great facilities
Golf, wine and good times”
The location is very desirable. Smack back in the middle of the action. Restaurants are within close walking distance and others are only a short cab fare away. The lounge/library & bar area are such a great place to meet with friends for a drink and play games. Everyone was very helpful. I am sure we will be back to stay again.
Mixed Review of a Great Hotel”
On one hand the Hotel is set in a great location and close to everything. The staff are friendly and very accommodating when we wanted to change rooms. On the other hand the bathrooms on check-in were dirty and we required a second clean. Also in the space where the carpet and the wall meet there were dead bugs, not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. The bed sheets and see through curtain also had stains. The shower has two heads, very comfortable unfortunately the shower does leaks badly onto the floor outside the shower. We had to wait until 3pm the next day to have the rooms serviced. The room service menu was out of date and when we checked out we had to pay an extra $20.00. On check out the staff were friendly but had difficulty trying to calculate the room service and payments. The rooms are very quiet. Other than that a great hotel.
Great location close to HunterValley Gardens, Shops and afew restaurants within walking distance. The meal in the restaurant was exceptionally good value, with good food and service. A wonderful weekend escape.
Central to everything, would highly recommend. Great breakfast. Staff very helpful, our fridge did not work correctly and they replaced once brought to their attention. Rooms could do with an upgrade but our room was clean and quiet.
good good good”
very near Hunter valley garden , there are some shops near the resort ,they sell chocolates, wine, souvenir and also have some restaurants and coffee shops aroud there. This is the place to pick-up for Beyond hot air ballooning
Great, though I was disappointed in the web site, I feel it could have explained a lot more, I was disappointed that when we booked dinner at Elements we were not told you must have 2 courses,by the staff or the internet, that would have been fine normally however we ate a very late lunch and wasted half of our food, which I hate and I would go to the Irish pub to have dinner next time instead of booking with Elements.
We have been coming here at least three times; each time we have found excellent service, good food at the breakfast and the restaurant and also very good rooms with lots of facilities. We have no need to search for another place to stay, we will be coming back.
Fantastic resort for a weekend getaway”
Service from the start was amazing. We actually arrived on the wrong day - no problem for the Mercure. Dates changed and our room was upgraded - all at no extra cost. Dined in the restaurant Friday night. Food was great. Served by Josh, who was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Couldnt fault him. Room was great, gardens lovely. Service at checkout also terrific - can't fault them.
Best bet for visiting the Hunter Valley Gardens”
This is probably below the top Mecure standards, much more a motel style atmosphere, but the location is perfect for visiting the Hunter Valley Gardens, which are effectively on the same site. The hotel setting is delightful, with well maintained gardens and terraces. We were there the weekend prior to Christmas and the hotel was pretty full with the strains on service showing badly. The pool is excellent but horribly overcrowded at such times, and service at breakfast was at breaking point. The location makes up for these faults on the whole, and at quieter times this would be a good place to stay for visits to the Hunter Valley.
The room was spotless and clean, but bathroom felt hospital-like and less like a hotel room bathroom. There was a disabled railing and a shower curtain with two shower heads. The top shower head, although being a fancy fixture, did not have strong pressure. The main shower head was great with powerful pressure. We saw a big black cockroach in the bathroom late at night. The surroundings were clean and close to wineries via car transport. The resort had a small shopping centre area, gym (not included with room rate) and some restaurants which are a bit pricey. Service was great and facilities good. There was a a big pool with deck chairs but couldn't use it due to the rainy weather. Parking was great as it was right outside the room (outdoor).
Disappointing not the usual Mercure”
We were disappointed with our stay as whilst the room was good size the bed had plastic sheet which could not be removed and caused an uncomfortable night. You would not sleep on plastic at home and not expect to in a hotel. The room was not made up one occasion probably as it was not possible to get up the stairs with one access blocked by painters and another by roof cleaning with high pressure water hose. I am sure there are much more comfortable hotels nearby and would never return here.
relaxing family getaway”
The Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens was great, we went there to go to the Christmas lights at the Hunter Valley Gardens which was right next door. We have two young boys who loved the pool, we loved it and would go back
Ten minutes walk to the Hunter Valley Gardens”
Apart from some initial confusion where the hotel appeared to have lost my Agoda reservation, our stay here was excellent. We were visiting the Christmas Lights at the Hunter Valley Gardens and to stay within a few minutes walk saved us long and frustrating parking delays and endless waiting. The hotel is comfortable and the staff friendly; overall this is a reasonable middle of the range hotel with the huge plus of being next door to the Gardens and near some of the most popular wine tasting. Despite claiming to be fully booked the hotel seemed half empty and the staff mainly students.
Everything at your doorstep”
We booked 5 rooms for SIngapore guests visiting wineries and the best part was we could walk to everything, McGuigan WInery is right next door with Tempus Two across the road. HUnterValley gardens is a short stroll as is the local tourist shops, restaurants and cheese factory. Recommend visiting Cellar Restuarant, food and atmosphere were great.
