Cheap room you should not expect much, so far everything was not so bad but on cleanliness is not very respected.

Basic accomodation”

Very basic accomodation quite far from the city centre. The walls were mouldy and there was no sink in the bathroom. I guess that is what can be expected for the price. The family is lovely and welcoming though and aside from the condition of the rooms it was clean (sheets, towels, etc.).

Excelent relation price-quality! The hotel is perfect because is near to all places, The room is so clean! They cleaned it every day ! They are very hospitality and nice Family! also they rented a motorbike at very good price! They helped with our luggage and we were taken to the airport while we had a good talk about Phù Quoc! We spend three night at the Lam Homestay. Every day we were very happy to come back home and exchange with the family. They proposed many great activity during the day even some we did together. I remember a beautiful evening passed with the daughter to do some English homework for school. Great intentions sometimes are not enough”

Lam family is lovely, but for that price im sure there are other better options. Too familiar as it was quite noisy and resting level is not good, althought they do their best. If u r under 25 yo and u dont care about resting definitelly is a good place, if u want something better, it is really worth to spend $5 more/day and go to a proper hotel, plenty in fhe area

They barely spoke English. The man in charge wasn't there. He manages most of the business. He was referred frequently on reviews during our stay, he was no where to be found. I was overcharged for my laundry by 10,000. It's 20,000/kilo. I only had a shirt and two boxers with two socks. That is not more than a kilo. Food was almost twice the price walking out to the street for food was easy and away from tourist traps. Overall, stay was at par and it really is a 1-star hotel. Nothing terrible happen. Pretty straight forward.

We arrived to Phu Quoc planning to stay 1 night only, but after meeting Mr. Lam and his family, the island experience just kept getting better and we didn't leave until the very end of our vacation. The accommodation is extremely comfortable, clean and neat. We woke up rested and relaxed each morning, ate a delicious breakfast (fried eggs with vietnamese bread and fresh cucumbers, seasoned with Phu Quoc pepper) and took off to explore the island. Since the moment we arrived, Mr. Lam and his family took care of every detail, assuring we have all the amenities, equipment and information for an unforgettable vacation. We felt like part of the family throughout our stay! They took care of us and made our every single wish come true, from motorcycle rental, fishing tips, home BBQ party to airport transportation... We followed our host's recommendations and experienced the best that Phu Quoc has to offer! We usually don't want to visit the same place twice, but this time it's different: We definitely want to come back to Phu Quoc and stay at Mr Lam's homestay - hopefully soon! Highly recommended, look no further, book it (and make us jealous)!

Rooms are basic and clean, unfortunately ours only had a window towards the patio, so we had to leave it closed most of the time. The owner, LAm, and his family are very friendly and helpful. Lam speaks English, communication with the rest of the family is a bit more difficult but we always got our problems solved. since you need a motorbike (which can be rented from Lam for 150k a day, most rentals in town were around 200k) to get to the most beautiful beaches on the island (sao beach and mango beach f.e.), i dont think its worth to spend a lot of money on accomodation closer to the beach. the house is on the outskirts of town but with the motorbike, exploring the island and getting around is very easy. Definitely recommend this place!

Warm atmosphere, ok budget accommodation ”

The Lam Homestay was a very pleasant place to stay. It's owned by a family, who are all very kind and helpful. Ram, the owner, will chat with you, and he made me feel like he was my long-lost uncle. Really solid guy. There's a communal table outside where you can chat with other guests. Rooms are basic, but there are ample TV channels. On one occasion there was no power for a few hours, and the wifi was out for the better part of a day, but you should be out experiencing the island anyway. Hot water always worked, but it took over a minute to get hot. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone going to Phu Quoc on a budget, who is willing to ride a motorbike there. On foot I wouldn't recommend it: too far from the beach.

It was good, Mr Lam was very nice and hospitable. I really enjoyed the new year's eve dinner. However, I think the homestay cleanliness can still be improved. I stayed there four nights and they never cleaned the room, nor changed the linens. The place is also far from the beach, although I also enjoyed seeing their village.
