Første rommet vi fikk var det en stor lekasje fra taket og inn . Rant vann . byttet til et annet rom . det var små gammle rom som trenger vedlikehold . måtte betale ekstra for varm frokost . Egg Bacon ++. bruker nokk ikke dette hotelet igjen. personalet var hyggelige.

Really friendly staff, warm cosy hotel ”
I was in room 101, the room was clean and well presented, the shower was really good. The staff were super friendly especially the female who I think may be one of the owners

Friendly staff, perfect location”
The place was clean, with a good size room, and helpful staff. There are several places for breakfast around the hotel if needed, and walking distance to all main sites (or metro stop not far away). I would stay here again.

Wonderful and historical accommodation”
After finally finding this place from front of Waverley train station via Google Map going a back way, everything was fine. Part of a great historical complex of Royal College of Surgeons, it's an excellent place to stay with partial donations going to ongoing charitable support for medical research as an added bonus of their Corporate Social Responsibility. Great!

Great location if you are around Merchant City. Definitely no frills and extra for cooked breakfast, but if all you need is a bed in a central location, perfect. Staff pleasant too.

The room I was allocated had no natural light, felt claustrophobic . Better use could have been made of the room space e.g. I turned the bed thro' 90 degrees to gain more floor space. The toilet area though clean and bright was cramped, the position of the toilet paper dispenser meant you had to nigh on do a 'three point turn' to use the WC. If I had known I was to have been allocated this room I would not have booked. JB, Glasgow Boy from London

When I reached the hotel, my son-in-law was with me to help with my luggage. He asked to use the toilet and the staff told him that the toilet is not for non-residents. What a way to treat customers. He had to wait until we finished checking in and go up to my room and then he used the toilet in the room. Totally heartless and unfriendly. And then the staff charge me for the room when I had already paid through the internet booking. I had to ask for a refund after checking my online booking. I had a heavy luggage and asked her whether there is an elevator to go up the three floors. I was told there was none and I had to drag the heavy luggage up the three flights of winding stairs. Certainly not for the elderly to stay. Really disappointing experience.

Noisy, cold, dated”
Nice staff, decent location but far too noisy & cold as old building. No lift, and 4 floors. Would not recommend. We were contemplating going home rather than staying overnight. Rooms are very dated, wooden flooring, bed uncomfortable. Clean room. Lovely breakfast staff Called reception re noise and got told we were at the quiet side.

My issue was with Binder the Manager.”
The hotel itself I couldn’t fault exactly what we where looking for. I asked to change a Double Room to a twin when I spoke to Binder on the phone a week before our arrival. He assured me that he would see to it, and when I asked for e-mail confermation he told me he can’t but not to worry that he will take care of it. When we arrived we had to pay another £70 or we couldn’t get the room. The receptionist Sunny (A gent may I add) phoned Binder, he refused to budge an inch and if we didn’t like it we could go somewhere else. So determined to squeeze the extra £70 out of us, he refused to give us our original booking of the Double Room. The next morning I spoke to Binder at reception and obviously gave him a piece of my mind, to which he took offence when I called him dishonest. He denied he was asked for e-mail confermation, denied he had a Double Room that night and his only defence which he kept repeating was “You never asked me”. I stand over it, Binder you are dishonest.

Ideally situated”
This hotel is situated in a street behind Ingram Street and The Corinthian Club. Ideally situated if you require to be in the city centre. The hotel is in an old building with character. Reception staff were always friendly and polite. My room was clean, very warm and had TV, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facilities - all that I needed. The only fault with the room was that the mattress should have been replaced as it was uncomfortable having been well used. I brought this to the attention of Reception. Breakfast was adequate, Continental style included with the room rate. Hot cooked breakfast was available for an extra £3 if wished. There were no other facilities that I could see but as I was attending a course and out all day I didn’t need anything else. I was woken one weekend night with ‘the party’ beginning at 0345....other guests singing, shouting and speaking loudly, ... they had no consideration for those already sleeping. It can happen in any hotel.
