    Excellent”

The rooms are as depicted in the pictures. Not too shabby and not too great either- you get what you pay for. + On a plus side, it's really close to a LOT of food outlets. - The A/C is extremely poor, it gets stuffy at times.

Pros: good location Cons: Aircon does not work properly : shower parts missing and broken from aircon : water system leaks a lot of water from everywhere. : shower door comes out (broken) : just seems like a lot of things need to be fixing and replaced. : it should be taken off the market till the owners come and have a look through the place and replace and repair the basic items. : not worth the rates they are charging : would be good if they raised the bed to a suitable hight.

    OUR STAY EXPEREINEC”

We check in on Friday, 11 Jan 2019 . We were given the actual room we booked for. In the evening we discovered air-con was out of gas and room was very very warm. Ask to change room, the night attendant was an old man age about 67 . When we brought the complaint to him all he could say was he does not know anything he is just a night attendant. I request to speak to his supervisor and had to tell him what to do.. Spoken to supervisor was told it was late and there no availability of rooms. I insist of changing room and eventually she siad we will upgrade to a suite with enjoining rooms. We booked for triple sharing family unit. We discovered that the suite was a single bed for 2's . But we have three person so was given a mattress that is old and dusty and we have to request for a mattress sheet. Since it was just for the night we bear the inconvenient for a night. We managed to change to the family units the next day.Another issue is the toilet in the room is about 1 foot.

rude staff, television no signal and not have remote, internet weak, toilet door hard to close and open”

rude staff, television got no channel and don't have remote , the internet is weak sometimes can connect and sometimes cannot connect. when i want to ask about the television remote and the staff said "what now" . the toilet door also hard to close and open. the staff ask RM12 for government tax (normally is RM10).when i ask the staff "not RM10 for government tax?" and he answer me " nope, it's RM12" .so i paid RM24 for 2rooms. but when i travel to Kuala Lumpur, the government tax only RM10 . i will not stay at this hotel for next trip

    Excellent Hotel”

This is my 3rd time staying in this hotel. Acceptable hotel even though it looks old. Staff is at first look very unfriendly but turn to be friendly after a few stay. Hotel is nearby Prangin Mall and Komtar where there is the local bus (Rapid Penang) terminal. Nearby to Chowrasta Market and about 15-20minutes walk to Padang Kota Lama (Esplanade) where there is a beach and eateries of mainly malay and chinese food. I will come back again.

    Large room”

The accommodation is actually two rooms..........a lounge room and a bedroom. The lounge is badly stained. The step-up from the lounge room to the bathroom is quite high. The bed is comfortable. The TV has only three channels which are blurred and not watchable. The fridge is cold. There is a wardrobe with plenty of drawers and hanging space.

Simple, No frills, worn out budget hotel”

Location was good - just on the street where there are many night hawkers with delicious food. Also near Komtar (5-10 mins walk). Staff was friendly. Generally clean. However, exterior (and interior) look old and dirty and run-down. Room provided the bare amenities and was functional enough for a pleasant stay. Pillows in need of a change. Blanket was like a piece of towel/rag. Air-con is not strong but acceptable. For the price, it is generally good. Tip: Get your SIM card with data plan at Komtar instead of the airport.

    Favorite in Penang”

This is the ideal place to stay while visiting Penang. It is in an awesome location on Kimberly Street. In the morning, when you step outside the hotel, you are greeted by the most delicious breakfast foods imaginable! Same in the evening. The hotel has a wonderful, semi-outdoor room filled with tables to eat in so you don't have to eat out on the street. They also allow you to use the dishes from your kitchen should you need them. The location is close to two picture museums, Komtar mall, Armenia street area, and also Little India. It's the perfect locale! The staff at the hotel are beyond friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to see every day. I think the best thing about the hotel is the staff. We have been traveling for several months throughout SE Asia and the people who work here make you feel like you are at home. We are truly grateful for that. The room is nice, and has a flavor of its historical surroundings. The Wifi worked just fine, and the room was cleaned whenever requested. We loved our stay here and will definitely be back!

Dont judge a hotel by its look”

    Ambiance, comfort, location

The hotel may look like those "dirty" ones on the outside, but the inside is totally another story. They have comfortable shower, bed, common room and also super friendly staff. They have big room space and even provided a hairdryer too !

great location, street food right outside hotel”

big airy room, great location, many street food right outside the hotel

It was good. The room was big and airy, amenities were minimum, they only provided 2 towels for 3 persons in a room, only bar soaps available for the toiletries, no shampoo, shower cap, tooth brush and tooth paste, yet, hair dryer was provided and worked well. The best thing about the hotel is that it is located in the center of the city, only within walking distance to KOMTAR and Prangin Mall. At evening, street food vendors started preparing the food, it is a must try especially Penang Fried Kwayteow. Ovrrall, it was a good stay, will consider this hotel again for my next visit.

    Good bang for buck”

Strategic location, clean rooms, heritage ambience

The hotel is between the interchange and the heritage area, giving it the most mobility than other hotels. Within 7 minutes of walk, you can get to the first of the famous street art or the bus interchange to other areas on the island. Right at its street there are quite a few food stalls that offer nice food, with the famous duck meat stall at the end of the street. The hotel building is one of those structures you could probably see in a tv show based in the colonial era. Good cleanliness, minimal fuss, great staff and prompt service. If you don't mind the position of the power sockets and the absence of in-room entertainment, this would be one of the best hotels the price range can find.

The Staff, Good Location, the Restaurants outside!

This hotel is great. Rooms are generous, good value, and well furnished. (The fridge especially is not always found at this price!) Our deluxe was a small apartment, complete with hatstand. The refurbishment of the building is excellent, providing a flavour of 1930's Penang. (This is the art marking above - its a historical building, with refurbishment to match). The location is excellent - step out the Kimberly door and you are in the middle of the Chinese district whose evenings are replete with cafes and hawkers. Go out the Pintail door and you are 200 metres from the Komtar complex - shops, food & the Island's bus station. And if that wasn't enough, the owner and his team make it easy. Help with taxi's, info on the island etc. There is good English on the counter. They clearly care about the hotel - for example the internet was upgraded while we stayed, taking a basic (but operational) service into a smooth experience. And I haven't mentioned the great sitting area on the first floor - just a place to sit over a sunny court yard, may be to have a few noodles. This is a great place to stay.
