Best budget accommodation in Bangkok!”
We booked an ensuite twin room with a/c here online, and extended our stay when we arrived for a slightly lower price than listed online (620THB in high season, negotiated to include WiFi). Rooms are quiet and basic, with solid brick walls to keep sound out from other rooms and outside, and are clean. Beds are hard but comfortable, WiFi, shower and aircon work well, though aircon is quite noisy. Food served in the restaurant is not as cheap as street food, but it's definitely worth the little extra as it's so tasty and portion sizes are generous. Location is great, 5-10 mins walk to Khao San Road and lots of shops and restaurants right outside. The only downsides are that it isn't close to the MRT and the staff may need to be taught how to crack a smile. I'd definitely stay again though, and highly recommend New Siam Guest House!
A quiet Guest House very well-placed ! Guest House paisible très bien située ! ”
The New Siam Guest House is a very quiet place to stay in the Khao San Area. The Guest House is clean, affordable and very well-placed. I've booked a single room with fan and shared bathroom (single bed with fan, a chair, a desk and a window) for about 280B (7€). The room was clean, quiet at night and big enough for a short stay. Actually, I already recommended this place to someone, a girl who didn't know where to stay in the area. She got a single bedroom with private bathroom and air-con for about 600B (15€). So, if you'd like to stay in the area, for a fair price and still be able to sleep at night, this is the right place. I'll recommend again this place if I have too.
Good value basic rooms perfect for transits”
The very basic double room aircon with private bath was as expected. May be small but did the job. It was clean and perfect for overnight transits through Bangkok. Restaurant was quick in service particularly if you are in a hurry for your transport or tour. It had very good coffee, they have a real espresso coffee machine. The guest house was near Khaosan but far enough away from the noise for a peaceful nights sleep. Bring your own padlock for the safe. Cable tv was also available in the room. If you book through agoda they offer free wifi which was fast and excellent.
Non-backpacker hotel for backpackers”
SoThiS is a low-cost, medium-value hostel for travelers on very limited budgets. I am a low-cost solo traveler who have grown weary of bakpacker hotels who offer extremely low-priced accomodations which trade off comfort. Some in this forum know the deal - several people of differing genders cramped in a small room sharing one toilet with no assurance of security of belongings; noisy, chaotic halls dominated by beer drinkers from sundown till 4 am. New Siam offers an alternative - clean, ok-sized rooms in a good location (Khaosan area). They have strict protocols with regards to non-guests - they are strictly restricted to the resto and lobby areas. I saw a backpacker trying to argue his way in 'cuz his sleeping gf was stayng there - to no avail. There are tradeoffs: semi-public restrooms on each floor where male urinals can be seen; none of the homey, chummy, friendly staff that you typically meet in backpacker guesthouses, just strict impersonal - even some decidedly unfriendly characters who become rude if the english gets more complicated than simple directions; internet is available only in the public areas (it might be available in some rooms near the router but forget it if you stay in the 4th floor or up); NO ELEVATOR, so make sure you stay at the lower floors (after a day of touring, it is penance to walk your way up to the 4th or 5th floor; resto and tour prices are slightly higher, but that could be quickly resolved by a few steps outside the hostel. In general, this is an altrnative for low-cost travelers who really dont want to check into the backpacker hostels.
Great price for what it is”
The location was perfect for easy access to the backpacker scene but also quiet at night. The area feels very safe with two staff available 24/7. As a couple, we chose a private room with fan and shared bathrooms. The showers and sinks were always clean, towels and soap is provided. There is nothing fancy about the place, but it's great location and great price for a clean and safe place to stay. I would absolutely recommend the guest house to anyone looking for a quieter private room off of Khao San. For a few baht you can even use the pool at their second location!
The Best place for backpacks in Bangkok!”
This place has Great location, 2 minutes walking from Khao San Road but quite enough at night time. I enjoyed my stay there so much. I paid 350 bhat for fan room with sheared bathroom. The room is very clean, big enough and comfortable. the shower is really good. The only drawback was the fact that there was only one Plug in the room and it did not fit to normal us charger. Everything was absolutely great but The thing I liked the most about this place was the nice and helpful staff. They helped us a lot and every time we passed by the reception they were smiling. I really want to thank the girl yu that works at night. She is so amazing and new siam felt like home because of her. I will come back for sure.
Good for the money.”
Nice stay at the New Siam 1 Guest House. Staff were friendly and information is clear upon arrival, rooms were a little hot as we opted for the cheaper fan room but even with fan on full it was hotter inside the room then in the hallway, not bad for the money and the location is good.
Good budget option ”
We have stayed here a few times and again this time we were happy with our stay, it's clean & good value for money compared to other budget hotels in Bangkok & the location is perfect for us. Taxi Tip : New Siam is on a small Soi between Rambuttri & Thanon Phra Athit, you can either get off at the junction between Chakrabongse Road & Rambuttri (right beside the Khao San area) & navigate your way down the Rambuttri but it is a bit of a walk especially with bags, so if you have heavy baggage ask the taxi driver to drop you off on Thanon Phra Athit Road, Phranakorn District outside Thara House Hotel. Right after Thara House is a small soi (road/alley) walk 2 mins down that & you will find New Siam. Tip : the bus stop to take you to MBK centre is across the road from Thara & also the river boat Pier is on the same stretch & that will take you to central Bangkok... Both are so much cheaper than taxis.
Solid place to stay in Khaosan ”
Spent two nights here and all was good. Pretty barebones rooms, but big beds and as expected for the price paid.Cheaper to book at the hotel direct than online by about 100-120 baht. Location is good - slightly away from the craziness of Khaosan road, but still close and lots of restaurants / shops en route. Will definitely stay again if we make it back to Khaosan.
Good place to stay for a few days.”
I have been always booking at New siam guesthouse when I came to bangkok. This time I booked one day in the bigger fan room. It was extremly hot in the room. If you get the chance book a room on the higher floors because the wind makes it cooler in the evening.
Good stay for what we needed ”
This hostel was good for what we needed, helpful staff with great English, great location (about a 5-7 min walk from Khao San Road) and was really quiet through the night. The hostel wasn’t very busy whilst we were there so the shared bathroom was practically just ours. The guest house was pretty clean, with free water, towels and soap provided. They also do food which was really tasty. The only downfall to the room was the standard fan room we chose, it was unbearably hot and found it was cooler outside of our room than inside. If choosing a room, definitely get the air con if there is the option as it’s just too hot. Other than that, it was great for what we needed and would stay again (with air con).
home from home”
TERRIBLE !only joking ! we stayed for 11 days in august and 6 days in September, a lot of documents to get and offices and embassy to go to ,the New Siam was a friendly and homely place to stay, with good food and fresh coffee. It's not the Hilton, but would you feel at home there ? Thumbs up !
Amazing staff,Budget, location”
First place I have ever stayed solo travelling and had an amazing stay. Staff is so friendly and nice and the restaurant in the lobby is so convenient and very cheap.the location is a little hard to find so make sure you know where your going before. But the location in Bangkok is great, short walk from Khaosan but not too close for all the noise. Easy walking distance from grand palace ano temples as well if you don't feel like being scammed by taxis and tuk tuks
Close to Khao San Road, good during Songkran”
We stayed here during Songkran, expect to get very wet at the entrance of the hotel. Restaurants all around, central location. Can buy tickets to go swim at Siam Guesthouse 2 which was amazing in the Bangkok heat in April. Life saver. Rooms are average but clean. Location is what makes this worth your money.
Good considering price”
There are other places that give you about the same for this price. The room is fine with beds that are comfortable enough. Outside bathrooms make it a bit harder to stay. Location and restaurant on the first floor are good. Other places that offer a room for that price may give you a room that isn't clean with an uncomfy bed. If breakfast were included that would be a plus. No huge difference between this place and other similar priced ones. It maybe more quiet there than on Kao San. I kept fan on at night. It's a little loud. Room was a bit stuffy with windows closed. Toilets weren't perfectly clean. Always someone drops tissue on the floor at these places. I'm sure all is cleaned well during the day. I ended up taking a double room instead of single when I was told the singles were all on the 5th floor. I wondered why there's no picture of the single room at the booking site. Got double for just a little more on 2nd floor. Staff all fine.
Worth of money”
We were rent the fan and outside bathroom room. The room cleanness was ok. We found no bug. A bit hot at night since we only use fan. So decided to open the window. The place was 5 minute to khaosan road, so you would not end up insomnia by the noise of bars. Staffs able to speak english. And they have bags depository cost 5 bath a day. Thank God. They also have travel agent who gave trevel service to phuket by bus or van or whatsoever you want it. Very helpful, coz we were decide to use their service last minute the bus about to go. And they tried their best. Thank youuu for that Mr. I forgot whats his name. The pont is, the guset house was worth of money.
Good value for money ”
Spacious room with a very comfy bed, the sharing bathroom are kept always clean. Hot shower is available if you fancy. The staff is friendly and the location is perfect !!! Very close to Khao San Road but far enough from the loud music at night so you can have an early night sleep. The price is very affordable , I will definitely book again when I’ll come back to Bangkok .
Very cheap and clean tho noisy”
Pros: Excellent price Clean Towels provided Nice staff Great location, close enough to Khoa San without being right in the middle of it, quick walk to River ferry and buses. Cons: Noisy at times, bring high quality earplugs. Top floor - single rooms, yet above top floor (not hotel) there were people stomping around till 2am and they started again at 8am. Selfish smokers on the balcony stink up hallways and thus rooms at times. Common in Asia unfortunately. Hotel should make it all non-smoking area. Fine the smokers! Bring your own: earplugs, soap, shampoo, toilet paper. I like this hotel and would book again.
Cheapest clean guesthouse near khaosan”
We stayed here more than 2 weeks and enjoyed Songkran. The guesthouse is very clean and quiet, though near Khaosan Road. We had the best stay for a really cheap price. As a backpacker, you will love this place for sure.
Very friendly staff, good price. Great localization - 5 minutes to Khaosan Road. There is a cheap direct bus from BKK airport which stops nearby the hotel.
