Great location and good deal for poor students”

          location and price

Despite immensely crammed room, I found it better than what I expected for that price in that location. Comon', it's New York. How can we expect a presidential suite at $75/night? Cleanliness was decent. There were stains on towels and bed sheet. I really hope it was washed thoroughly. You will have to share bathroom bathroom with people from that floor. Be wary that you might need a good control of your bowel. Also be prepared to be entertained by the conversation next door. The walls are so thin that you can literally hear the footsteps of your neighbor. Despite the drawbacks, it's a livable place especially for those people who wants to save hotel money and spend it doing something reasonable in NYC.

We were in this New World Hotell with my friend and daughter for 7 nights. No bedbugs, stained towels though, but no bedbugs. Maybe paperthinwalls, but that didn´t cause any harm during our stay.. Very polite staff. If you want to have clean towels and room, just inform the staff, you know.

          Cheap

Staying there 3 nights over visiting to New York. It is among the cheapest hotel which I could find. Considering the low price that I paid for, the room is just good for staying for the nights. I had no urge at all to spend extra time inside the room. The room is very small, comes with hot shower. Its location is not too bad, some 15 mins walks to Subway ( Canal St) which is just few stations away from Time Square. Generally it serves the those who want to save on accommodation.

One World Hotel maintains the legacy of The Bowery "flophouse" ”

If you want a low priced, insanely good location and a cultural smack to the senses, take on this hotel. Less of a hotel and more of a Bowery flophouse, more aligned to the historic bed and rooms associated with Skid Row.. Beware on our first night, the nIghtclub was pumping downstairs, there was a fight in the hallway and in the morning you could literally hear the woman in the room next door brushing her hair. The shared bathrooms are not for the light hearted - quite filthy most of the time with no toilet paper almost all of the time and we only showered once preferring to use wet wipes in our bedroom rather than take on the microbes in the shower cubicle....yes really... But if you value authenticity, getting lost in Chinatown, haggling with the locals, acquiring first rate and cheap laundry services this is for you. If you just need a place to rest after superb linguini and clams from a Little Italy restaurant but don't need actual windows in your room, this is for you.

Good hotel for its' price, comfortable beds, fine amenities

It was a great place for the price. Everyone else reviewing seems to forget that it's a cheap hotel. You get what you pay for. But it works. AC/Fan, bed, towel, etc. For a poor college student it was great. The biggest problem is the thin walls. Recommended: bring earplugs.

          Price, Location, Location

Our stay was just as expected after reading reviews from other travelers. Location was great. Tons of cost effective places to eat within a short distance. Access to the subway was very close. Noise in the hotel was terrible as expected. We ended up right next to the main office/lobby and the laundry room so we new when every guest was coming and going. Despite the cramped room and the noise I would stay here again just because of the low cost and location. We only stopped in long enough to recharge for the next day of site seeing.

          Extreme budget hotel (hostel)”

          Price, location, friendliness

I have stayed at the New World Hotel a number of times. It's an EXTREME no-frills place, and as long as you're expecting that, it's great! Hotels in NYC tend to be expensive, which is bad for the budget traveler because in such an exciting city it's normal to spend very little time in your room. So this is one of the best choices if you only want a bed and a (shared) shower. It is safe, and the staff and guests are friendly. However, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who considers hotel stays to be a haven from reality or a chance to pamper yourself.

The price was great the bathrooms were really dirty, location was definitely the best deal for this ”

Location and price stood out for me that was amazing, the only thing I had a major problem with was how dirty the bathrooms were and no elevator. I would give this stuff a 5-star rating they were very nice polite and clean the rooms whenever you request it. Being a New Yorker myself I will give this overall rating / 3.5 because although the bathrooms were not in the best condition the rest of the hotel was pretty much like an apartment and you're absolutely had privacy.

          Great deal place”

Much better price than anything else I could find, convenient location with lots of good food right outside. Sure it ain't a five star suite, but I had a comfy bed, and a functioning bathroom, it wasn't too cold and there were no spiders. That's all I need to be ha happy traveler. And the view from the roof is fantastic!

Great location but not accessible for handicap.”

          Good service from the receptionist.

We arrived from Orlando at night. Surprisingly we were told that the room was not available and transferred to other hotel nearby. There was heavily rain and we have to find our own way to the hotel given. We were refunded of USD 40, and the staff apologized for the unexpected occasion, It was really a bad experience when we have to walk in the rain to the replacement hotel. The room was so small, no bathroom attached, just the bed and television. One good thing about both hotels was the good service from the receptionist.

Yes, 1 star, but that's OK”

Let's face it, this is a 1 star hotel. The main issue is no elevator - so you'll be walking up 3-5 flights of stairs. That being said, this is the cheapest place you can stay in Manhattan. While was there, I checked out some of the other notels in the area. . . some that didn't even have websites! This place was still less expensive. The location is great, the staff wasn't like a Hilton, but they weren't too bad either as long as you didn't hassle them. When I stayed the total cost each night was $136 (that included tax). For my 2 nights, I was under $300. The cheapest 'chain' hotel in Manhattan, the Comfort Inn (not too far from this hotel), was over $250/night plus taxes (which run around $40/night -wtf??-) So, if I had stayed at the Comfort I was looking at almost $600. Over all, if you want cheap and don't care about anything else, this is the place to stay in Manhattan.

convenient hotel with not bad service”

          cheap

the hotel has an okay location but what you have to keep in mind is that you can hear literally everything whats going on in other rooms. this means that sometimes it can be really noisy. everyone shares two bathrooms but that was not a big deal because it was pretty clean. overall, i liked this hotel and i would recommend it to other people as well.

          good location

i understand that accommodations in new york are really expensive so we really can only afford a budget hotel like this. i love the location since it is chinatown, near little italy and soho where all the food and shopping places are. we attended the holloween parade and i didn't want to stay far and take a subway after midnight so we just walked back to the hotel since it was near. the only problem is the rooms are small, quite dirty and you can hear the other guests in the other rooms!

You get what you pay for ”

The location was great. The price was great. It's annoying that the price jumps from 50-60 bucks to 100 if you want a bigger bed. My boyfriend and I slept on a single bed and it was VERY tight. The towel and blanket had old stains on them but you could tell they had been bleached and washed. The walls could use some cleaning. It was very simple and NOTHING fancy at all. If you need a bed and you don't want to pay 300 bucks for a crappy hotel room, then this is the way to go. The tv didn't work. But all in all, it was fine and did the job. There were no bed bugs or any kind of bugs. I recommend flip flops to walk to and from bathroom and wear in shower for sanitary purposes but the floors were clean.

we had a rat in a room”

I travel a lot and I have very low standers and I can sleep almost anywhere. So I didn't have any hight expectations. It was very loud at 3 am ( it felt like people were just in our room). The price was great and location was pretty good. It was derty but I would still stay another time here up untill we saw a rat that ate new bag of candy from my suitcase. So after that I will not ever stay here

          Serious budget hotel”

          price, location, friendly staff

This is a no-frills hotel, more like a hostel. The rooms are more like cubicles than hotel rooms. But it's great if you don't want to spend much money and don't plan to spend much time in your room. I love NYC and would rather spend the money on sightseeing, international dining, etc. than on the hotel so I like this place. It was my third stay, and I will stay again for this kind of price.

A deal in NYC is no deal ”

Lol it was a deal. Narrow hallways with stains. Crooked steep staircase’s that give you the illusion the building was moving. A tiny entrance to your room with a metal key to enter with. Cigarette burn holes in the comforter, used sheets with crumbs. Black mold behind the toilet. No windows or ac. Wall mounted fan that doesn’t work but the end stand fan barely does. Besides the walls being thin, there were stains all over it. Crooked pictures... overall like some kind of Willy Wonka b.s going on. But its a good deal. We checked for bugs... nothing. But still slept on top of the stained up towels given, in a fetal position. Lol
