Clean small rooms at the New Yangon Hotel”
The New Yangon Hotel is in a good location in Chinatown. The rooms are small but clean. The AC is new and works well. There are many dining options within a short walk of the hotel. Just a five minute walk away is Citi Mart where you can pick up snacks and beverages. Hotels in Yangon are expensive so it would be challenging to find something much better in this price category. The staff at the front desk all speak good English. I suggest you have the front desk hail your taxis for you and you will always get a fair price. Only one English language channel on the TV. It is a movie channel. Wifi in the room is a little slow but not too bad. Wifi is free. The free breakfast on the top floor is another benefit. A different menu every day. I would choose the New Yangon again on my next visit.

Didn't sacrifice too much for great cost savings”
I switched from my first hotel (Clover City Center Plus - ~$100/night) to the New Yangon Hotel (~$70/night) after I found my trip was extended by a few days in order to save money. This hotel met all of my criteria quite nicely: the hotel was clean, the staff was friendly, the location was in downtown Yangon, and there were very few insects. It is worth mentioning, I did see the trade-offs for this less expensive price when comparing this hotel to my original hotel (all fairly minor for me): * The location was a bit off to the side of downtown Yangon in/near Chinatown with a local population in the area vs. being on a main street next to key attractions where enough people who speak broken English. It required a bit longer walk to get places (though taxis were plentiful enough if you looked to hail them for a couple of minutes. * The internet in the room only worked on my computer 1/3 of the time. It worked fine from the lobby 100% of the time. * The elevator did not function a few times during the day (I'm not sure why - did they turn it off on purpose?) but I was on the 7th floor and the walk down fairly steep stairs was not my cup of tea for first thing in the morning. * Housekeeping knocked on my door one afternoon when I was getting ready to go out, and in response to my, "just a minute," they knocked again and insisted they needed to clean. They were friendly but persistent. They were pleasant when I opened the door - I think were simply doing their jobs and didn't know that this isn't the way to cater to hotel guests. * The breakfast was cold every morning (it was still fine for me, but could have been kept hot). Dining staff was not very attentive / proactive about clearing away dishes, etc. Overall, my stay was pleasant and the hotel was nice, even though the small quality differences to my slightly more expensive hotel were apparent. I would stay at the New Yangon Hotel again as it met my needs for a hotel in that price range very well.

A Great Budget Option in Yangon”
We had a pleasant 4 night stay at the New Yangon while in town at the end of a longer holiday. Although the area immediately surrounding the hotel is not the spotless tourist centres found elsewhere, it was lively and had countless local restaurants, tea houses, and shops where you could find whatever you needed. It's also near the Strand, so there is fast access to any part of the city by bypassing traffic. The hotel itself is fairly basic, and we felt that the price per night was considerably inflated from what it should have been. My guess is that this because the third party agents, including Agoda, since prices need to be high enough to provide a commission. Everywhere else in the country, including Mandalay, we had no trouble finding quality budget accommodation without using a foreign-owned on-line service. To be honest, I felt a little like I had bought tickets from a scalper or tout outside a football match for twice the face value. On the plus side, I was able to book in advance and pay by card, something that would not have been available at the front desk. Overall, the hotel is a clean, comfortable place to spend a few nights, and it comes with friendly and efficient service and a nice view from the rooftop breakfast solarium.

Good Place in Yangon”
New Yangon Hotel is in a good location and close to Chinatown. The staff is very friendly, though housekeeping can sometimes be lazy. Yangon drivers are horn crazy and the hotel is located in front of a major bus stop. Be prepared to hear bus drivers liberally honking their horns from early morning until evening. Overall, however, a very good value in Yangon.

good choice in Yangon”
After many trips to Yangon, I decided to stay in this hotel the last couple times. Compared to other hotels in Yangon, rooms are cleaner and larger (most hotels in Yangon are very expensive and often pretty old). Location is ok, walking distance to Chinatown, so plenty of places to go for dinner. Wifi is ok for burmese standards. Staff is very helpful and kind. I really have to thank Yen Lin Toh at the reception for helping me with the issues I had with Airasia and my mishandled baggage. Reccomended!

Another Good Stay”
Many stays here now, and as expected - little has changed. For a short downtown Yangon City stay it fits the bill as the value end of things. Happy customer and will be back no doubt - Thanks.

Another Good Stay Downtown”
Back again (6th time) - and another good stay. My only issue is the lack of black out curtains, so if your a light sleeper then the windowless room(s) might be a good choice. Staff were very good and accommodating - room was very clean and comfortable and this remains my value choice for Yangon.

For Budget Travellers looking for more than a dorm”
Yangon travelers will know that having a nice hotel at acceptable prices is a luxury in Yangon. New Yangon Hotel has just that! Basic needs of a traveler is fulfilled at their affordable pricing by Yangon's standards. I think if we talk about absolute price, it offers the lowest in downtown Yangon. Highly recommended is this newly opened Sapel Burmese Traditional Foot Spa at Chinatown's 16th Street close to Mahabandoola main road. I returned to it many times during my stay for the ambience and 5 star service standards inside the massage place. It is truly something extraordinary from Yangon's unkept and dirty streets, especially a haven compared to the busy Chinatown streets outside. I think all tourists should go try out the place, especially relaxing after a day's tour and walk around downtown Yangon. There is nowhere else u can feel so good in the whole of Yangon!

A Perfect Stay in Yangon”
The Location of the NYH is perfect, if you want to really experience the local people, culture and their way of life. There is easy access to most of the major pagoda's, markets, parks, museums, restaurant's, malls in a short taxi ride not costing more than 3 USD. The Hotel is new so you can enjoy cleanliness all round, comfortable bed, new towels and linen, high pressure shower(hot), Wi-Fi, good breakfast and an absolutely stunning view from the top floor breakfast room. The fridge and hot water flask in the room is an added bonus. What really makes the NYH stand out thou is the STAFF. Very professional, accommodating, attentive, warm, and helpful in general. This applies to all the staff but a special mention goes to the Front desk staff Mr. Soe Min Naing and Vincent. The Chef also accommodated us with vegetarian breakfast as one of us is vegetarian. Best wishes to the NYH for 2014 and the future! Thank You!

Good value for Yangon!”
Given Yangon prices this hotel is good value. Room was small but did have a small window, ensuite and bar fridge.as suggested got a room on 6th floor at back so very quiet. Staff are really helpful and friendly. An interesting location but a reasonable walk from any attractions. Local restaurants are good and cheap. Supermarket near by for supplies.

Decent place, no frills, nothing special”
Yangon hotels are surprising expensive given the low standards of accommodation in the country (unless you are in the budget to go $200-$500 / night to stay in the Strand, or Trader's, etc. That said, in the "budget" hotel category, the New Yangon Hotel is passable, but don't expect too much. On the plus side, the hotel is pretty new, staff is helpful and it is clean. On the downside, the hotel room is quite small, there is no real privacy between the bedroom and bathroom in the room, and there are no amenities in the hotel whatsoever, except the upper level restaurant, with a view of the drab Yangon skyline. Buffet breakfast included in the rate in the restaurant was edible, but not very memorable. Overall, New Yangon is a manageable base to explore Yangon's attractions, but don't come with very high expectations.

Overall average stay”
Stay at New Yangon Hotel was passable. Cleanliness was acceptable but room was small. What the hotel can improve on is the breakfast provided. Selection was little and not consider tasty. I would rather go out and eat along the street. The breakfast area has a really good and unblock view of Yangon. Good location and excellent service from the staff. They would run to you just to open the door for you when you make an exit. Abit noisy since it is along the road. WIFI slow from afternoon through the night. Use WIFI in the morning

Not a bad choice in yangon”
Most hotels in Yangon are overpriced so,it's really hard to find one that's value for money. I think this hotel is value for money in yangon though still expensive compared to other Asian cities. The location is good, downtown near the river. Not far to walk to the Sule pagoda, markets or Chinatown area. There is a lot of street noise and even though I was on the 7th floor it was still noisy, the breakfast was pretty good compared to other offerings I had in Myanmar. And the restaurant was set in glass on the top floor, great views at breakfast time. The staff were friendly enough though English was limited. I stayed there three times over my one month stay in Myanmar. I would recommend it as a safe and comfortable place to stay with reasonable prices for Myanmar standards.

This place is probably as good as it gets for a hotel in Yangon right now. Good value for money and a good location.

Well located budget hotel ”
The hotel is well-located in downtown Yangon. Generally it was fine and the staff were helpful. Just a couple of niggles: the air can in the room needed to be reset every time to work and no-one told us this until it wouldn't work; the buffet breakfast was OK but there were few guests (it seemed) and so the food on offer wasn't as fresh as one would like. Also the room safe was very unreliable.

A good hotel at a modest price”
A nice hotel located in a not very busy part of downtown. Good value for a not expencive price. The hotel, rooms, furniture, linen, etc. are in good condition. Nice view from the restaurant on the upper floor.

This hotel is a great value.. it's not a far walk from the center of downtown. There is a cinema nearby and a good Sushi place. The staff was very pleasant and the room very nice for price.
