Lovely Stay and some exceptional friendly staff”
Very happy as my sister and I requested and were given quiet rooms whenever they were available and once even upgraded We stayed 5 nights Sept 2015 pre cruise and 2 nights post cruise mid Oct. Helpful and friendly front desk for directions and booking of restaurants etc . Stayed here in Oct 2012 with my group of 5girlfriends and we loved it. Only draw back was that some taxis don't want to enter the narrow alley of the hotel so you'll have to cart your luggage in but the hotel can call a taxi to ferry you out to the port or airport. The mini buffet machine in the hotel lobby is a bit pricey but there is a minimart diagonally opposite. We love to explore for food so usually end up breakfasting at Tapas bars in Mercat de La Boqueria. We'll surely book again whenever we are going to Barcelona.
amazing and helpful staff”
the location of this hotel is super amazing next to the shops and restaurants the staff very helpful and they give you the needed service always with smile, the room small but very comfy the bed is waaaw to sleeping
For location, you can't ask for anything better. Close to Las Ramblas, the market place and the Gothic Quarter. Very central located, and very friendly and helpful staff. So many great places to eat at walking distance of this hotel..
We booked the Superior Room New Style and it was everything the pictures showed. We had a terrace which made our first trip experience to Barcelona even better. The location is also perfect. 5 minute walk to La Ramba. Perfect distance so that the partying at La Ramba doesn't effect your sleep. All around, we would extremely pleased with this hotel.
Theft by staff”
Small wallet with a few US$ and my drivers license. Am over 65 and felt I was profiled by maid. When reported to desk, inquiry was made re Could I have packed it? Left it somewhere? Could they check my room?.... As if I hadn't already done that. Very dissatisfied with this hotel recommend staying elsewhere. Heat was still on from 3rd floor up. 4th floor room was uncomfortably hot and airless. Only good bit was breakfast.
Location , location, location. It is in the real center. Walking 7 mins. to Plaça de Catalunya. Easily to go to Las Ramblas, and to attractive sights, e.g. Barcelona Cathedral (Catedral), The Palau de la Música, Museo Picasso, etc. Lowlights is the housekeeping stuff room is opposite to room 208, my room, the staff is working there earlier morning before 8:00am, we were woke up by the mosie.
Fantastic central location.”
A great location in the Gothic area, close to a lot of attractions, transport & shops. The junior suite was roomy and clean. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. They assist guests in making reservations for tours and restaurants. Two supermarkets are very close by for all of your needs.
I think that for the price of this hotel, a basic continental breakfast of coffee and croissants should be available in the lobby in the AM free of charge. I do not like to use coffee pots and hot water pots in the room. I chose this hotel based on location and safety(which was good) and the expectation of good air-conditioning (which was not so good).
Great little hotel in a part of old Barcelona.”
Nice place to stay and very well situated for all the visitors needs. Rooms are old and in good condition and kept spotless. Pet hate here the shower was in the bath. Great location to enjoy all that the city has to offer, look for the off street squares where there are lots of restaurants or just stop rest take a drink and people watch. Recommended for a city break.
My daughter and I stayed here and it suited our needs - in the Gothic quarter, great location, room was small (typical for Europe) but only in room to sleep so it really doesn't matter the size. We enjoyed our stay!
a good choice”
A wonderful stay away from the noise that is ramblas! The staff were all helpful and generally spoke reasonable English or at least tried to help. We stayed here because of other reviews on Agoda and it all proved to be very good. Santa Anna cafe in the next street does a fairly good English breakfast for around 8euro. The rooms are a good size with good beds and shower plus the elevator is normal size and there are 3 of them!
perfect location ”
very good stay , the location is perfect , and the staff is great , very helpful . it would be perfect if they could renovate it a bit , as everything is a bit old compare to NH usually .. but the location worth gold!!
Great location for access to old quarter”
We have stayed at this hotel 6 times in the last 10 years and the last 3 have been when Le Merce Festival is on. Hotel's location is perfect as entertainment is easily accessible. Staff, especially in dining hall, are very helpful and efficient. One issue I do have is that one evening I returned to the hotel at 9.15 pm and went to the mini bar in the hotel foyer and poured a coffee from the machine. I was pounced on by the security man who was very patronising and rude and shouted at me that the bar was closed. He picked up a sign which was quite a way from the coffee machine which said Cerrado. I had a word with the receptionist and asked her why does the mini bar close at all. There are no coffee making facilities in the rooms and therefore surely for guests coming and going all hours this facility should be available 24/7. There is a charge of 2 euros per cup which would mean that this facility was not abused. She said she did not make the rules.
Good but not great”
Its location is good, near shopping centre and supermarket. However, the overview of hotel and room are quite old. The staff team is ok but not great. They just answer when asking, not any recommendation or advise. This hotel is perfect for just sleep and go out.
Have stayed in this hotel before although a long time ago. Our room was extremely small although very clean. Our friends room was larger. Staff were extremely professional. Central location for The Ramblas but just off the beaten track which was exactly what we wanted.
Good hotel, Fantastic location”
We found this hotel as offering great value for money, located right in the heart of the Gothic quarter within short walking distance to attractions, restaurants, night life, museums and much more. The staff are really pleasant and helpful. Downsides: As the rest of the city centre, one should be vary way of pickpockets, and the internet at the hotel was painfully slow. Other than that we were really happy
lovely hotel a street behind La Rambla”
The reception staff were really friendly and were always happy to help with all questions and requests, the hotel is less than a minute walk from La Rambla and is situated half way between the harbour and Catalonia square. The only thing that wasn't included in the overall price was city tax, which is only about 1.30 euros a day.
Centralt beläget hotell. Servicinriktad personal.”
good value and perfect location”
The hotel is perfectly placed for visitors to Barcelona. It is 5 minutes from Placa Catalunya and 2 minutes from Las Ramblas in a quiet pedestrian side street so no traffic noise. Buffet breakfast offers extensive choice but rather expensive. The alternative is to go out and get breakfast in any one of the nearby bars/cafes. Apart from the small lobby area there are no public rooms i.e bars restaurants, lounges etc. Therefore, this place should be regarded as a place to sleep and a base for exploring all that this great city has to offer. Good value for money compared with other city centre hotels of similar ratings.
Its location was good. Very close to almost every nearby visited spots. But the room size was too small.
