"This southern “twin” of the majestic, classically-styled Taipei Grand Hotel, Taiwan’s first five-star offering, is about half its size and historical significance. Nevertheless, it certainly has its own charm and majestic presence. The hotel is situated on its own acreage along with an accompanying lake, which is well worth a afternoon stroll for its serenity and nostalgia, harkening back to an era when life was less frantic and simple. Although the hotel has seen better days, it still maintains a certain charm. It is quite a distance from the city center, beaches, shopping malls, night markets and transportation hubs. The suites are relatively barren, but well-maintained with classical Chinese furniture and a huge balcony. The hotel also lacks many five-star amenities and services, although the restaurants and breakfast have high standards. These days, there are more luxurious offerings from pricier competitors but of course, that’s not what staying here is about. "

"Pros: 1. The environment is nice. It is inside a lake park. 2. The airport service is 250nt, almost half the price of taxi. 3. Room is spacious. Cons: 1. The staff arent so helpful and informative. 2. The gate going in the area closes 9pm (we werent even informed when we checked in.) You will need to call them to open the gate just so you go in. 3. All taxi drivers we rode (6 of them) have never heard of the resort. 4. It can be hard to get someone at the reception. We were going to complain about wifi connection and we didnt get anybody for 30 minutes. A group came in to check in and there was no one to attend to them. 5. Wifi is unstable. We complained and was informed that wifi really is unstable in their area. 6. They are very inflexible when it comes to breakfast. It is fixed 7.30-8.30am. We werent informed too. But apparently it is written on their board in Chinese. 7. No taxis & buses go in so you'll have to ask reception to get you a cab or walk about 10mins uphill for a bus."
