Cheap no frills option for a quick airport layover”
In a city without anything resembling a genuine airport hotel, the Nice Day hotel was a decent no frills option for a quick overnight stay. It's about a 20-25min drive from the airport, however the hotel provides a free airport pickup service, and cheerfully hailed a cab for us the next morning (cost of our trip back to the airport was approx US$6). Others have commented on the neighbourhood. It's certainly not full of tourist amenities or particularly close to any great attractions, but nor would I consider it an unsafe area. It's just a normal Yangon neighbourhood without any of the more western, sanitised options that you find in the touristy or expat areas. As such, it has a nicely genuine feel to it, though some would consider it too gritty and chaotic. We were most impressed by the courtesy and enthusiasm of the staff, who definitely provided a level of service above that expected at this price. In every other way, it's just a clean, basic, anonymous option at a cheap price. It was great for our quick layover at the end of our Burma trip, prior to an early international departure. It would be less good at the start of a trip, as it's definitely not Yangon's most attractive neighbourhood.

Fine place to stay, a bit far from the city”
The hotel is far from the city. It's closer to the airport than to the city. The room is clean and the bathroom is also clean but rather small. TV has not many English channels. Welcome drink at check in and the rate includes breakfast (fried rice, fried noodles, fried vegetable, bean, bread with butter and jam, juice, coffee/tea, papaya, banana). It's within walking distance from a train station. If you know the train time, it can be a convenient way to commute to the Yangon city.

Affordable ”
This hotel is affordable. It has hot water, an air conditioner, and a fairly clean bed. It also had a small refrigerator. All the electricity turns off if you pull the key out of it's slot on the wall and leave, so things in your refrigerator will not stay cold. It was a good price for a young family. Good food as well.

Ok for a short stay”
Hotels in Yangon are overpriced compared to rest of SE Asia and the rest of Myanmar due to a shortage of hotels. Nice Day is fine for a couple of nights, the non smoking room I was in had a bathroom that stank of cigarette smoke but the room was clean and the staff were lovely.

Helpful Staff”
I stayed in the Yangon to look for a distributor for my company products. The hotel manager is extremely helpful. He helped to make phone call and source for local distributor because i can't communicate in Burmese

Cozy hotel with great Teh Tarik”
I was travelling with my aunt & cousin. The mini suite with additional bed was more than huge for us. Free wifi was enough to get us connected with our family n friends. Hotel staff was friendly n accommodating. I especially liked the towels provided in the room. Very pleasant

Great staff but out of the way”
Wifi was fast (for Burma), they wasn't hot water and air con worked did cut out a few times. Staff were really friendly and helpful. They helped a lot in booking accommodation in Bagan where I was heading. The hotel is far from the city centre or the main tourist sites so you end up paying for taxi's to see Yangon.

Dirty, smoky, broken....”
Pros: Good location amongst the locals, great price, friendly staff Cons: very dirty hotel, very run down, toilet broken, shower head broken, mosquitos everywhere as doors open, strong smell of musty cigarettes throughout, broken bed, carpet stained.... Hotel was once good I would say and that would have been on opening.

The worst hotel in Yangon”
We had some reservations about booking at this hotel but we wanted somewhere close to Yangon Airport for our last night in Myanmar: bad idea! It took our taxi 40 minutes to get to the hotel because of dense traffic. The lobby is not bad and we were checked in quite quickly, but then we were taken up to our third floor room in a very grubby elevator. The wall on our floor was painted industrial green. Our room had grubby walls and no decorations. The hard beds felt as if they had straw mattresses. The overhead light was dim but harsh, and there was no way of turning off the overhead light except to remove the room key from it's slot, which left us with no way of having a night light. The bathroom was grotty, but it contained the only good things about the hotel: a plentiful supply of hot water and a bathtub. The nicely appointed dining room was located across the other side of the hotel parking-garage and the breakfast was the Myanmar standard of rubber fried eggs and toast. The awful Nice Day Hotel, which looked a lot like the government-owned hotels we were warned about in our Lonely Planet guide, with its pale green undecorated walls, grotty bathroom, and a nicely appointed restaurant just across the parking garage from the hotel elevator. Behind the front desk was a plaque stating that the hotel was one star establishment: I think that’s an over-rating, except for the bathtub and boiling hot water.

One night bedding arrangement”
While the staff did its best, giving clues of ancient minimal professional training (one of the few hotels in Rangoon whre I was proposed a wake up call and it did work...), it remains that this hotel is seriously disavantaged by it old aspect, shabby surroundings, and lack of maintenance. TV flat screen brand new, but reception poor, Wifi 'Burmese style" (several disruptions but enough service for Email), A/C needing to be overhauled. Room was OK, but bathroom asian style with shower spilling all over the floor and old fittings. Main criticism is about bedding which seems a pack of straw, rather tough and uncomfortable. Room service OK, but breakfast in morning rather limited; OK for Asian style.

Rooms are dirty, electrics are ancient”
I booked this at the last minute as I had screwed up my other booking. The good stuff; free airport pick up, I didn't even request it! Staff try hard to be helpful. On the downside the carpets are filthy and peeling up. The lamp in our room buzzed loudly and the electrics were interesting even by Myanmar standards, although we couldn't hear the buzzing when the air-con was blasting away. Ok if this was a budget price but as with everything in Myanmar at the moment the price was massively inflated. Its also a long way from Yangon centre. I would not go back

Wouldn't stay there again!”
We spent one night at Nice Day Hotel and wouldn't do it again. We chose it because of the so called proximity to the airport. It's closer to the airport from there than from the city center but the neighborhood is very sketchy and so is the hotel itself. We weren't sure what kind of hotel this was. The taxi driver who dropped us off told us not to walk around in the neighborhood in the dark. The concierge locked our room's door from the inside when he left the room. Needless to stay we didn't feel very safe. For the quality you get the price is outrageous! We made it through the night without any incidences but we'd definitely not stay another time!

Nice quick sleep , neutral expectation”
It was ok unless you expect too much. Good for a quick sleep before flight but need to ensure booked taxi service with hotel staff. One more thing, the wifi is very speedy and thus very handy for a traveller. Family travellers should consider some other hotels because it is not fit for kids in some senses.

Dated hotel in an out of the way location”
This hotel is not close to either the airport or downtown. Rooms are small & basic & with little or no charm. Overpriced for what was offered I would not stay here again & anyone travelling to Yangon for their first visit would be better suited paying more for a room in the downtown area of ease of access to sightseeing, attractions & restaurants.
