Great location. My room was great. This ryokan is good for muslim traveller. They can provide no pork/vegetarian breakfast and dinner. There is prayer space in ryokan. Also, they sell Halal Cup Ramen. Love it! ❤

We have to get the attention of the serving staff to get the soup cooked, to have water served to us. Compared to other guests, they are more attentive, probably we can't speak their language. Overall, the rest are quite good.

Traditional Onsen Hotel near the UNESCO Heritage Shrines”
Plenty of food, big serving (set breakfast and set dinner if you opt to be inclusive in the room charge. I would recommend this since to walk out to look for breakfast and dinner from the hotel is little inconvenient. We stayed for two nights, the second evening dinner I would say it as lavish and generous from the hotel. Onsen is super clean.

We defenetly recomend staing in this ryukan if you want to see World heritage sites from a walking distance. And dinner and brekfast were strongly Japanese style. Onsen was sufficient enough (1 bath incide. 1 - outside).

When we arrive, Nikko is so cool, the staff gave us the heat pads, they are very nice to travellers. Also, they introduced temple route to us. For the meals, we paid for the dinner and breakfast... the foods are exquisite, but taste good and not too salt. Overall is good except the staff will go to prepare the bed when you are in dining room, as we know this is the traditional Japanese house, we are okay for that. If you can’t accept it, please don’t stay in.

A must-go when you visit Nikko. Hotel cannot be recognized by Google Maps for some reason, but this is beside the Toshogu Shrine. Staff was very helpful, though with little bit of language barrier. Breakfast was good. Didn’t get to try the Onsen. Maybe next time! Highly recommended.

            What a treat!”
My/our first time staying in a ryokan. Other reviewers call this place a budget ryokan or could use some updating, but like the other reviewers this didn't away from my experience in the least. The kaiseki breakfast & dinner were just SO wild and varied. The first night's stay we made the mistake of eating lunch too close to dinner & felt absolutely stuffed before even half our meal was finished... So make sure you go on a LONG walk and work up that appetite before dinner, it'll be so much more satisfying. The luxury of a ten mat room w/veranda, a TV, hot tea at the ready, your futons made while you're at dinner and put away while you're at breakfast, and access to their indoor/outdoor bath facilities – just SO so nice, esp. after spending nearly every day of our 2 week trip prior walking or traveling all day long. This is a great place to RELAX. Staff, esp dining staff was super courteous and welcoming. Location is hardly a ten minute walk from the Toshogu shrine. Visit!

            Amazing Experience”
This was our first time at a Ryoken and it was amazing. We got there before check in but they took our luggage so we could explore the sites. We walked to Toshogu shrine, the abyss and shinkyo bridge before returning. The walk was pretty easy and lovely. The hostess showed us to our room and explained everything including how and when to wear our yukata. We had picked a late dinner time and had tea and cookies in our room before we went to the dining room. They thought of everything. Dinner was AMAZING on a beautiful table in a lovely room! Traditional Japanese which was adventurous for us but we ate it all up! While at dinner, our beds were set up in our room and we were comfy cozy. The room was large enough for the 4 of us, but we all slept on the futon beds on the floor next to each other. There was plenty of heat (guest controlled) in the room, but the lobby and halls were cold. The lobby robot was entertaining. The western breakfast was terrific! We loved this place!

A place for relaxation. The place offers good food. However, as mentioned by others, facilities are a bit old. Getting to this place is easy too, it's not right smack of the town centre but it is close to a few tourist spots.

Customer service was what stands out the most for this hotel. In addition, the futon mat style accommodation was also a really great experience. We tried the personal onsen and it was really good. Breakfast was one of the best we've eaten. Unfortunately, it is a pretty good 15 mins walk from the bus station, and it can get quite dark at night.

An amazing place for one night relaxation! ”
I got to spend one night there, and it was great! I would highly recommend the traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast as well , they really were something else! The place offers you a Yukata (light summer kimono) in which you can wander around the place, definitely contributed to my relaxation. And of course the greatest thing there is the onsen , which was nothing short of amazing, and they let people with tattoos in at the evening! The stuff was extremely nice and kind as well, all in all I had a great time staying there for one night!

Food was exceptional. Japanese styled room and onsen. Friendly staff.
The location was good for visiting the world heritage sites. Full board is a must because dinners were very good. I thought that the dinners were going to be the same for all 3 days, but they actually keep getting better and larger. Almost couldn't finish the third dinner. The room was nice and clean. The staffs speak little English, but they were helpful. Could really ask for more.

Slightly worn out but nevertheless very cosy”
            food, service and room size
The inn is slightly worn out but apart from that offers fantastic service for it's guests. Rooms have seen better times but are clean. Also spacious. Food served in HB offer is gorgeous! Mind however it is a mostly serious traditional cuisine - we observed a group of Japanese teenagers who apparently were completely lost both on breakfast and dinner and even scared a little. But as mentioned before the food once tried was simply divine! Staff hardly speaks any English but they try hard enough to make their foreign customers as happy as possible and with great success. The weakest point is the size of rotenburo - very small altgough still pleasant to use. The rest of the bath is clean and big enough. Nothing fancy there but nothing more really needed too. To sum it up this is a great place to try 'onsen experience' with great value for money.

            Onsen, traditional room, comfy futon
We had a very relaxing evening in the hotel's small hot spring after a long day walking around Nikko. Loved the yukata provided and how the staff laid out the futon and bedding stuff for us. Breakfast was very healthy. Staff were courteous. The hotel is located only about 5-minute-walk from Shinkyo bridge so quite convenient when you use the Nikko bus pass.

Comfortable and clean with excellent food
Having experienced a few traditional Japanese hotels before we were very impressed at the value offered here. Not the most luxurious rooms but certainly the most comfortable futons! Spotlessly clean throughout. The onsen looked like it was new unlike the rest of the hotel. You need to give a time for meals and have the choice of western or traditional Japanese food all of which looked wonderful albeit with some odd choices for western breakfast! A short cab ride from the station and a short walk to World Heritage Nikko attractions make this a great local style option providing you like Japanese cuisine. Food was lovely and the staff did their best to help you enjoy the experience. I would return in a heartbeat. Travel tip - take the local bus to Lake Chuzenji and back - amazing experience!

            The scenery from the window
Classic ryokan with spacious rooms and an unbeatable view of the lovely scenery. En suite toilet, but not bathing or showering facilities - but that is made up for by the wonderful in house onsen. The dinner - which must be ordered and paid for separately - is good value for money. No internet in the rooms, but there is a very comfortable lobby with free wireless access (and great coffee). In the vicinity (or a very short walking distance) of the World Heritage shrines and temples and pine forest. Very pleasant 20min walk to the train station - with lots of shops, restaurants and cafe's to browse along the way.
