Friendly and accommodating new management”
Intro - I had a pleasant stay of several days at Niny Backpackers (I extended several times). I soon made myself at home there and made friends with the staff's adorable and inquisitive daughter. Staff - I am told that there was a recent change in management (a few weeks ago), which may mean that older reviews regarding the staff are no longer valid. I found the current staff to be friendly and helpful. Location - The place is well situated near a night market and amidst a lot of tourist activity, as well as walking distance to a number of coffee shops, the National Museum and a nice walkway along the river. In general Food in Laos is rather expensive compared to neighboring Thailand; there are a number of nearby places catering to tourists (which may further inflate the prices). For more local (and affordable food) you may need to have a bit of a walk. There is also a nice therapeutic herbal steam room nearby which I also recommend visiting (which may help reverse some of the effects of the large quantities of pork fat you are likely to eat whilst in Laos). Dorms - I stayed in the supersized dorm with countless beds but felt quite comfortable (likely because there were not too many people staying there at the time I was there). I particularly liked the thin firm mattresses and slept very well on them (but I am slightly ascetic by nature).

Awesome stay although just for one night ”
Niny was good and kind person, she let us check in early although we reach there at 8am. The dorm room was big enough, we have a good stay and met a lot of travelers at here. Niny helped us book the train ticket to Bangkok with good price and she was helpful, she always ready to help you if you have any problem. Her daughter was cute and wasn't feel afraid of us. Definitely I will come back to here again. Thank you Niny!

Great”
Still can't quite believe how great Niny was; perfect location, very clean, good A/C, and SO cheap. If I'm ever back in Vientiane, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. (Plus the standard tickets/laundry/rental services of course)

best hostel in town ”
I stayed at Mixay guest house on my first day in Vientiane. I just wanted to cry as soon as I got off the taxi and saw what it looked like. I just didn't know Niny was down the street from Mixay.... way better! I'd definitely go back

Nice staff, ok wifi and good location”
I enjoyed my stay at niny. The staff were quite helpful most of the time. The wifi did not work on the 3rd floor where I was staying, which I didn't like. The wifi was very slow and not very usable. The location was very good and it was a quiet dorm. I do not like the fat that someone walking in off the street gets a better deal on laundry then people staying there do.

The best Backpackers Hostel in Vientiane”
The rooms are very clean, the location is perfect for ANY type of food required from international to local street food and the family that run the Hostel are the most lovely, helpful people anyone could wish to meet. All round 5 stars from a LONG term stayer in Niny.

Great location and really nice owners”
I stayed here for two nights and really appreciate that the owners (Niny) are very nice people and helpful whenever they can. They rent bicycles, laundry for a good price. The price includes a basic breakfast with coffee/tea. It would be nice that they had this as complimentary during the day. The location is great! Just 5 min away the river and surrounded of lots of restaurants. Other con is that the mattress is really hard, not really comfortable. But really clean rooms, wifi, computer and aircon.

Good hostel to meet likeminded travellers. ”
Niny backpackers was great value for money, the staff will do your Landry for you in house and you can rent motorbike or bicycle. Although the the bicycle was rather old they were at a good price. On the other hand the motorbikes were slightly overpriced, although they were in mint condition. All in all a good stay with nice atmosphere, recommend.

Stay here if you can”
Great location near restaurants, market, waterfront, and temples. Staff are really sweet and welcoming. Free breakfast, showers were clean, bedding was clean too. They wash and clean immediately after a guest leaves. As a solo traveler, this place was great because people hang out in the lobby and you'll most likely meet other backpackers. :)

Great location!”
Niny is located a stone's throw away from the Mekong River and the area surrounding it is quite happening. It's not only near to various attractions, it also comes with a great breakfast!

It does the job”
First thing first : there is no dorms of 14 and 16 people, only one giant dorm with 30 beds. That being said, I was actually surprised by how quiet and respectful everybody was in the three days I spent there, I could sleep easily. It all depends on the guests, obviously. There were only 4 showers and 4 toilets, so there can be a bit of a wait. The internet was working sporadically, but it worked. The breakfast was basic but a good way to save some money (lots of delicious restaurants in Vientiane, you might as well pay more for lunch or dinner). Location is good. Bikes to rent fo 10000 kips. Some of the staff are very knowledgeable, some barely speak English. All in all, I have nothing bad to say about the place. It does the job, a good place to sleep.

Great place to stay”
I really enjoyed my stay at Niny's. I had a great night's sleep and the private shower rooms and toilets were a revelation. If I come back to Vientiane I will definitely stay here again.

Location is great”
The location is great for solo backpackers as it is closed to open market and few tourist places. The hostel is clean nothing special as all basics are provided. With the money you pay, I guess there is nothing much to complain. I recommend people to stay there if you are on a budget traveller and meet other guests.

okay for a night”
It's okay for a night in Vientiane. There's a place to hang out outside, and a small balcony if you're in the upstairs dorm. If you're upstairs they may come ask you to walk quietly because the wood floors can wake people up downstairs. Breakfast is fine.

Above average”
About Niny I can say that the location is very nice, close to many tourist attractions and close to the Mekong river. Big pro is the lovely breakfast included in the already cheap price. I had some problems with the aircon. As I live in south east Asia and I know that it’s very hot, especially in a small room shared with other 4 people, when I booked the room I checked twice if there was the aircon in the room. So I decided for Niny. When I arrived during the day and I was literally liquified, I kindly asked to switch on the aircon. The guy answered me negatively telling me that they usually switch on the aircon at night time. Ok.. weird but if you say so. Around 7 pm I took a shower. Then I asked again but he said me: yes, at 10 pm! Around 9.40 I was liquified and I went downstairs saying that I can’t survive there without aircon. So finally it was on. I slept well until it stopped around 6am. The day after a new blonde guest asked for aircon and it was on already at 8pm, wtf!

Decent budget stay”
It's best if you book in for multiple nights straight away, as then they'll try and give you a bottom bunk in a quiet spot. Still had a bit of music and really loud snorers, but that's usually an issue in large hostels. Always bring earplugs. Staff were pretty helpful, though it was clear they made their money through commissions and services. The main lady is from Vietnam and the guy helping out (maybe part owner?) was from the Philippines, but has worked for many years in Cambodia, so the staff are pretty helpful when it comes to making future travel arrangements. The internet sucks, but not more than every other hostel in Laos. If you need average quality internet, try Joma Cafe around the corner. Don't expect great internet anywhere in Laos. I ended up booking an extra 3 nights through the hotel because my onward travel to Vietnam was delayed due to the Vietnamese New Year. Would recommend to fellow budget travellers. Price is 40,000 kip for walk ins.

Nice stay”
I had a nice stay ar ninys place. I had to check out earlier in ther morning, an they prepared breakfast. Ac was cool but they turn it on after 6pm. Buttt... One girl at the dorm on the first floor had bed bugs bites and they offered nothing, no change room... Nothing. If u want to buy bus ticket, try somewhere else, it is more expensive at niny.
